I fitted a TEC cam over a year ago in conjunction with the DNA air filter and inlet. I was much happier overtaking at 60mph /100 kph, I also noticed an improvement in fuel consumption, another benefit was the ability to fit a larger front sprocket which made the bike feel more relaxed.
There were no starting problems even in the middle of a UK winter. As for the engine noise, I didn't really notice it over the increased induction roar from the DNA filter and intake, which was quite noticeable. I ran the new cam for 400 miles before starting to up the revs.
At the time, in the UK it was £200 which I think was very good value for such worthwhile benefits.

I’ve now fitted both TEC & Himalayan Tools camshafts now and both give the same rattle - probably due to a steeper ‘ramp off’ causing more clatter. My E5 has now done 5K miles on a TEC and runs really well (also with filter/exhaust/iridium plug/fuel x pro). Completely different bike from standard. Also now put 3K miles on an E4 with same set up except with booster plug and just the same in terms of performance. A ‘must do’ mod in my opinion 👍 6:48

Mine was noisy after tec cam and i set the valve clearances to the smallest enfield setting and noise gone. Tec cam suggest you can drop this below enfield minimum setting (drop by another ‘thou’) for even better performance. (Inlet and exhaust). Best mod you can make to himmy.

    • @ONTWOWHEELSBEN
      @ONTWOWHEELSBEN  10 місяців тому +1

Yes , I tried dropping the clearances further, but the downside is when the engine warms up instead of freeing up it still stays tight resulting in tighter throttle response.

    Hi Ben...!
    Hope you are doing well..
As per your advice I have tightened up the steering stem lock nut....
Now there is no noise up there..
    Thanks for that..
But now after doing that the handle moment is bit harder and it's not moving smoothly.
I have also checked it by putting my bike on main stand and slowly move the handle bar on both side its not smooth somewhere in between.
    So what would you suggest?
Should I change my conset bearing or I can fix it by some other way.
If yes should I go for Conset fix combo from Art of motorcycles...
Also for your better understanding I have 2022 himlayan and done only 10,000 km.

Watch all my videos on TeC camshaft. Valve clearance setting to be done at slightly warm engine . 2-3 mins of idling and then set valve clearance. .08mm inlet , .23 mm exhaust. Get it done by a professional. They do make noise . It will slowly improve with time ( 3-5000 kms ).

Please do suggest it bro and i am looking for your thoughts on upgrading our OG himalyan with Big bore system as well. Do you recommend installing Bigbore 462cc from HitchCock motorcycles or 500cc from NMW racing team? For now i have installed Powertronics ECU + FuelX Pro + BMC Airfilter, Looking this month to upgrade my spark plug with NGK iridium and also looking to upgrade the front chain sprocket to 16 tooth. Looking forward for your response on this comment.

I've done over 4000miles on a Tec Cam... it made absolutely no difference what so ever to the noise levels. I keep the valves adjusted periodically just as before. I think you could check your tensioner perhaps.

@ONTWOWHEELSBEN I would say at about 1500 miles if I can remember rightly, I'm not a big mileage user like yourself, so who knows, noise levels may change as time goes by. I have most of the other mods as well, filter exhaust, etc. and she runs great. My only minor complaint is that, "very occasionally" it will hesitate for a split second on the starter if the engine came to rest previously on the wrong part of the stroke. I assume that's due to now having no decompressor... It's extremely rare though.
I love the bike and would never upgrade to the 450.
