I just saw a video yesterday. An interview from 2016 by another Rocker whos name eludes me right now. Joe tells his history of playing with many others. And, yeah, Joe Walsh over the decades, Barnstorm, The Eagles and his relationship with another Great Don Henley and others. His reunites with Barnstorm up till 2016 anyway. Yes, I have seen them together since then! When ???? Look for the video. Great history of alot of others. Myself,, ' stuff" I never knew! Great history!
@@JessicaTurnertorious too humble, right? because he's just as great as any giants-in-the-industry, seriously, i mean i don't even feel worthy to be commenting here but what the hey, right? i've been listening to the _roller coaster weekend_ album, it keeps blowin' my mind, and that song called days-gone-by, like 'are-ya-kiddin'-me-right-now??' vitale's-the-man, and joe walsh's best stuff was with him, it seems to me...the eagles were great but that was with randy meisner, man, haha~~~ i did love poco, and then i did miss poco, haha... but 'i can't tell you why', is perhaps the best they could do, after randy left the group... haha~
Wow. What a great interview. My first real concert was seeing CS&N with my mom & stepdad in 1989. I suspect it was Joe who was blowing my mind on the drums that night.
Really cool getting to hear Joe Vitale talk about his career... always loved Joe’s playing and got to see him play live with Joe Walsh twice... all the best Joe
I love the work of Joe Vitale. My favorite song from But Seriously Folks is “Theme From Boat Weirdos”. I’m pretty sure Joe plays the flute on that tune. I think JAY Ferguson plays keyboards. Thank you for an awesome interview from one of Rock’s true unsung heroes.
I first found saw Joe Vitale with Barnstorm around 1973? I'd seen many shows by then and , he was the most impressive drummer I had ever seen! Since then, I have focused so much more on the 'magic' that drummers bring to the whole musical creations! He's still my most memorable drummer to date. 'Kudos' to his continued musical excellence over the DECADES!
Vitale is a true legendary drummer in the rock world.. his journey through the golden era of rock has always captivated me. Check out his epic live work when he’s at his best.. late 70’s into the 80’s, CSNY, Eagles, and Walsh.
I just saw another video interview with Joe V. yesterday from 2016 with ????? It's great history too! You'll have to look for it. Yeah, love his ' story ' of his climb to the top!
" Bookends" is one of my favorite songs. Thanks to Joe for writing it. 2:51 is not long enough for that classic song. Seems like a great guy👍👍. Thanks for posting this.
yeah, i rediscovered that song, having forgot that i heard it as a kid, all the time , wow...yeah i recently started listening to _barnstorm_ , it was always one of mom'n'dad's favorite records, and shall always be one of mine as well~~~~~ which album was 'days gone by' on, because that one is also perhaps the greatest joe walsh song, and i don't even hear him on it, i wonder, was he even there when that got recorded, haha, --oh obviously the guitar-bit{s}? , i almost forgot, haha~~~~
seriously, nobody can play like joe, sing like him, and apparently be that good of a sport, not ted nugent, not frickin' gene simmons, certainly not don henley, maybe dan fogelberg could've, haha~ but seriously tho.... the _roller coaster weekend_ album is the best thing i've heard, as an album, it's a frickin' masterpiece, and it doesn't sound real over-produced like so many other so-called masterpiece-works by various other artists....yeah and the _barnstorm_ album, what a great work, it seems to me, joe walsh owes a good bit of his greatness as a recording artist to the grace and greatness of joe vitale, by gosh~~~~~~~
has inspired me over many years to continue playing drums even if I never get great I still love to try. played drums as a kid , but when I was married to my 1st wife she said drums had to go. so I didn't play for years till I got remarried to a woman who would put up with my dreams again. today i'm married to a great lady and i'm 64 and got a new kit and i'm playing again cause I love to play .
dang, dewey! that isn't really your name, is it? i never knew a dewey! except in the group called 'america'--haha- i never met him, but i love their songs- weren't they great? i thought i was old but i'll be lucky to ever get to sixty, haha!
1st time i've ever seen joe talking or any video of him. what a well spoken great guy. just from that picture of him on the cover of "roller coaster weekend" i figured he would be just like he is. i still have that vinyl and that entire album is solid top to bottom. lot's of great twists on that mid 70's sound .(the album is '74) as i listen to him talk i think if you put him and joe walsh together their voices are so similar. the "roller coaster weekend" album has joe playing everything pretty much instrument wise and joe walsh and rick derringer sharing guitar duties. excellent stuff.
Met this guy twice. Once with Walsh, once with Fogelberg. Both times an absolute gentleman. Lenny McDaniel (RIP) told me he went on tour with Stephen Stills, Vitale was a complete gentleman showing him the road. Cheers Joe
I love the idea of recording at "remote" tropical locations too. Should've started a band years ago...or at least joined one. oh well, great interview by Joe!
You've got it right. When I saw Joe and Joe together I wasn't expecting a mirror image of what was on their records I was blown away just to see them play and they could have improvised till the end of time, they were brilliant.

god, it's so great, and so terrible to be so old, i bet! i thought i was old, but this guy's an inspiration! haha! 'roller coaster weekend' is in my top favorite albums of all time, by the way! and dan fogelberg, yeah i hear joe walsh in some of dan's greatest recordings too! like 'love gone by'--i could be wrong, about that song...the netherlands album can never be beat! it might be the best album by Anyone! if Roller coaster weekend isn't the one! is it just me, or can you hear joe walsh on this track: maybe it's dan himself huh? ua-cam.com/video/SwGgTO4c09Q/v-deo.html
every track on _roller coaster weekend_ is just as great as anything by any artist , even henley, no matter how tall or so-called successful they grew to be, man...after all this time, that album continues to grow on me, and i've literally been listenin' to it since i was ten in 1975, man: haha... like, i thought i was old a few years ago, haha, but real art never gets old, so there-ya-go, man~ is it true that dan fogelberg was like seven feet tall, by the way? dang, you'd never know it, just listenin' to the records like i always had, haha~~~
