Whilst we all complain you gotta love this hobby for bringing different people together the way only *it* can. The past days have seen a lot of bad blood finally bubble to the surface in the US and yet everyone can always agree: SLCs suck
A few that I can think of: - Clickbait coaster videos (e.g. "Top Ten BANNED roller coasters you can't ride" with a photoshopped image of a person falling off a ride) - Cloned rides (Boomerangs and SLCs aside) - Removal of anything, regardless of age/wear-and-tear/popularity/expense/etc. (think Big Bad Wolf, Vortex, Volcano - Any modification, such as RMCing, that "ruins a classic ride" - Kiddie coaster height restrictions (for the credit chasers) - Re-used and unimaginative ride names (I'm looking at you Six Flags) and/or "theming" (why is a ride apparently themed to a parking lot named "Scream"?) - Loose article policies and LOCKERS (at least Universal does not charge for them)
Lets see: The arrow looper not being good, a slight bump on the old woodie, the lap bar slightly touches your lap, vest restraints, and the park doesn't have an rmc, so it is bad automatically. Oh, and the kiddie coaster is a clone
Let’s see, assigned seating, stapling, bad pacing, smoking in queues, screaming kids but worst of all.... rmc shin guards. 40 rides on Untamed in one day and my legs were literally bloody
Similar to bad operations, boring queue lines are my number one pet peeve at a park. It's one of the reasons I prefer theme parks to amusement parks. You can only watch TTD launch so many times in 90 minutes before you get really sick of waiting. I'd much rather be in line for something with a cool queue. And I'm not just talking about the over the top queue lines for dark rides at Disney or Universal (though I love those.) Even some of the queues at Dollywood, Knotts or Busch Gardens have enough going on to keep you amused while you wait. Heck, Flight of Fear has an excellent queue. A series of boring switchbacks is really a poor use of your day, especially if you end up waiting 8-10 hours in lines during your park day.
Better yet ditch long queues and do virtual queues like Disney and Universal. There is no good reason to have guests (who paid a lot of money in parking/passes/admission to be there) to stand in a queue for more than an hour when they could be enjoying other attractions, eating, shopping, playing games, etc. The parks would make more money that way too -- time wasted in line is time the guest could be spending money elsewhere.

You nailed me when you mentioned the B&M rattle. That's one thing that I tend to complain about. I'm fine with all other roughness out there, but not the B&M rattle for some reason, which is why I view them as making the roughest rides. I get annoyed at pacing issue complaints. Sometimes, a breather section can even make the ride better, as the following outstanding element seems even better (Ride of Steel straight-track into the violent ejector hill). MCBR can sometimes even give airtime. However, the assigned seating is always my biggest gripe, mainly when they reject all requests (Knoebels this year). That's the biggest problem facing our world today!
B&M Hypers/Gigas tend to have great ride operations. The people working these rides seem to always be happy and enthusiastic about their jobs, and they work their asses off to make sure the ride is running efficiently and safely.
There's a reason Cedar Fair and Six Flags love B&M. Throughput and reliability. 4-across (or more) seating is standard issue stuff at B&M. They may cost more than other brands but you get what you pay for.
Lines and waterparks. Waterparks were never my thing. They spread germs and I have no idea why someone will want to go to a waterpark when there are huge rollercoasters in front of them. Lines are self-explanatory - and assigned seating sucks! I rather sit on the very end and I enjoy the edges if it is a dive coaster or an inverted coaster or a floorless coaster. Tunnels as well, they are annoying I like to not hold on and they make me feel claustrophobic. This is another complaint, however, doesn't directly have to deal with the park, I hate it when parks lie to the GP and every one by saying flat rides are rollercoasters, they are not. Super loops do nothing.
It's also absolutely pointless. If anyone went to SDC this year, they would notice that the ride ops would force you to use hand sanitizer prior to boarding. This was the better idea. Cleaning the trains is only useful if done every cycle, since it only takes one person to spread illness.

My biggest complaint is park ops, and not necessarily at the stations. Management should be ensuring that guests don't leave unhappy, or at least act like they care. (cough) Kings Island (cough).
@@XscreamThrills The ride supervisor was rude when I requested permission to ride Great Pumpkin Coaster without a child, after explaining my position as a coaster enthusiast. He just abruptly said no, and walked away. Then the weather turned into scattered t-storms, and every guest was left in the rain for the final 4.5 hours of the day. That isn't the parks issue, that is the guests issue to remain in the park. Safety is the #1 priority. However, seeing as how over half the day was ruined for everybody and the staff did nothing but stand around and talk (although I did get into a great conversation with a ride op while waiting in the station for Diamondback), maybe extend park hours by one hour to give guests a chance to get a few more rides in, or dare I say a night ride on The Beast. Heck, maybe delay shutting down the queues by 5 minutes to run and get into one more ride. The last thing they should do is have the lines shut down early, which is what they did. Mystic's line was already roped off prior to official park close. My prior two bad experiences were at a SF park, but at least they tried to keep guests happy by extending park hours. SFDK extended their park hours by two hours one instance. At DK, I had a bad day overall, but understood the situation, and the park made a gesture to ensure guest satisfaction. I would go back to DK happily. KI has lost my support. As a silver lining though, I didn't buy Fast Lane. I felt even worse for the people who wasted their money on that too that day. Also, on a positive note, the park was open a half hour early to reduce the line to ride Orion, so I was able to get on that twice. I only got on 4 more rides during the next 8 hours though. That's my experience. Thanks for listening.
One complaint i have is towards coasters with OTSRs that don’t go upside down (except i305). Those coasters would be better with lap bars. I’m looking particularly at the older Vekoma Suspended Family Coasters built before 2007 when they switched to lap bars.
My number one issue is my home park Worlds of Fun always getting the shaft from Cedar Fair....and park path cleanliness, it doesn't take much to make a park look disgusting in the summer months, and avoiding trash/spills takes a lot of fun out of the day.
My number one complaint, as someone who is 6'4 270lbs, is that not every coaster has a seat designed for big people. Getting the kiddie coaster credits are impossible too.
I complain about rough rides all the time!! But, I probably complain about incorrect coaster facts! I hate it when people get their facts wrong. Here's a story, I was a Lagoon (my home park) with my cousin waiting in line for a ride. And this group of three 11 year old boys comes and waits behind us, they were talking about "Primordial" And said, "It's going to be the next Cannibal" I was pretty upset at them for being so GP. And I told my cousin, "they have no idea what they're talking about! It's pretty much just going to be a larger, slightly more extreme Bombora!"
Oh man, do NOT get me started on the MCBR for Yukon Striker... but anyway, it must have been nice to be actually able to go to an amusement park this year. Don't worry, I'm not bitter because they decided that even with all safety precautions in place it was too dangerous to open my home park or anything...
The park with the worst operations I saw this year was Silver Dollar City. One train ops on rides that already have capacity cut in half. When the line for a ride is over an hour and a half long, then it should be a pretty good hint that a second train needs to be added. I feel like an honorable mention should be clones. Nothing will make a coaster enthusiast complain more after a new ride announcement than when that ride is a clone.
Pacing: I don't mind MCBRs, but Verbolten has probably the worst pacing I've ever experienced, all stop-and-go. Absolutely inexcusable on a multi-launch that otherwise has no lift hill to kill the pacing at the start. That said, Joker's Jinx benefits from the lack of MCBR vs. Flight of Fear. Assigned seating: Diamondback was a bad example. It's a B&M hyper, the king of floater airtime, and the middle seats had the longest-feeling floater airtime to me compared to the front or back.
@@XscreamThrills I guess they were trying to be atmospheric? (Fat chance with the shoddy show building destroying any sense of that) On top of that, the slamming launch completely drowns out the effect the drop track before it had, and then the speed the ride takes those final turns is too much for the track and trains. The Big Bad Wolf was ripping itself apart taking the turns at 45 MPH, and now Verbolten takes it at a blistering 53 MPH. They should have weakened the second launch, lowered the main hill enough so that the train takes the final hill as an airtime hill (and played a fitting sound effect), and the ending would feel more like a resolution.
Home park is Knott's, their operations is 50/50 (before the corona). 50% Decent, 50% General Public slowing the operation on purpose (Notable rides are GhostRider due to "cubbies").
Yes, Bad operations are not always caused by the workers but they can also be caused by the guests themselves aka. the GP (no offense to them but). Scenarios: 1. GP Karen's kid gets his/her height checked and is not tall enough then GP Karen makes a fuss about it, cusses them out and demands a manager/supervisor by the fact that the ride ops are doing their job and ensuring her child's safety. Well GP Karen you should've checked your kids height before you got in line, there's always a sign out front that conveniently says how tall your child must be to ride for your use! 2. GP Karens try to ride with things they can't ride with (Bags, drinks, food, even lap children and wheelchairs, yes I've seen it myself) then argue with the ride ops about leaving their stuff on the platform, in a locker, or with a non rider and insist on riding with that stuff. Well that's for your safety and the safety of others and I think some of that stuff should be obvious. 3. GP Karen gets turned away for a safety reason (Health/Medical issue, missing/non functioning limbs, disability, pregnant, drunk etc.) and throws a tantrum that they're being turned away from the ride because of their own safety. Ride ops are allowed to refuse a ride if they believe it's a safety issue! It's their job to ensure safety. 4. GP not following directions and pulling down the lapbar BEFORE fastening the seatbelt. So now the everyone's restraint (or at least those in that car) have to have their restraint unlocked just so they can fasten their seatbelt. I mean they are telling you directions to buckle the seatbelt before pulling down the lapbar but as usual GP don't listen no matter how many times or how loud the directions are spoken. 5. Idiots not following rules and throwing things, breaking stuff, or anything else, then they have to stop the train or have conversation with them in the station about it. Like that's a huge safety issue, you can hurt someone or yourself doing that shit, and it can get you ejected and even banned from the park 6. Disabled people boarding the ride. OK I'll let this one pass and I won't be mad and I don't blame them either since disabled people can't help having a disability. It does take more time though. What I'm saying is riders can slow down operations just as much as workers can. If we all followed directions and not make the employees jobs harder then they can do them right and do them quick. Operations depend on how riders behave as well. There would be better operations.
Enthusiasts need to understand that parks don't build coasters for them. I hear gp used in such a negative way but without gp there would be no coasters. Sometimes I feel enthusiasts are pure cancer at times. Coasters are supposed to be fun who cares if you wait.
@@XscreamThrills yup, i was expecting the worst, but i actually got a bunch of room, and all it did was just feel a tad bulky when u got airtime, but tbh id rather have the restraints on superman the ride over the modern intamin t bars that intamin uses these days which u can find on the mega lites, formula rossa and ride of steel at darien lake after that ride got new trains

Oh and here is a complaint, why are six flags choose the middle east to put their 525 ft 155 mph rollercoaster? They finally took an incredible risk and hired the best manufacture of all time and they choose Saudi Arabia of all places, somewhere hard to get to and not known for rollercoasters. I don't know what to think about it one hand, it is a beautiful masterpiece that I want to ride, on another hand, they choose the middle east of all places. Also, their USA parks are not yet all superior and they choose to focus on an entirely new park.
@@XscreamThrills Even though I have full-on confidence in Intamin, I still believe the park will be a flop. For one, it is incredibly easy to get arrested in Saudi 2. I do not see the GP going to Saudi, I am not even doing it and I am a thusi 3. My risk management teacher brings up a good point There are fewer safety precautions in Saudi Arabia for rollercoasters than here. My biggest complaint is park ops, and not necessarily at the stations. Management should be ensuring that guests don't leave unhappy, or at least act like they care. (cough) Kings Island (cough).
I thought the management at Kings Island was okay. I'd be curious to hear about your experience.
Pacing doesn’t really bug me it doesn’t happen often when I’m on a coaster with trims or mid-course breaks
Shout out to Fury 325’s crew!
I hate it when coaster 😒 enthusiasts complain about getting stapled.
I’ve seen the book reading too, but I was okay with it since it was a tiny park with almost no one there.
But when the coaster is running the course and your reading the book... not okay with that
@@XscreamThrills this was a while ago so my memory is foggy, but as long a I was riding the book was down
Oh man, do NOT get me started on the MCBR for Yukon Striker... but anyway, it must have been nice to be actually able to go to an amusement park this year.
Nice video! As for that, you get another subscriber because you make awesome content like any other popular roller coaster enthusiasts!
Thanks!
@@XscreamThrills, your welcome! 🤗
assigned seating is valid though its so damn annoying like LEMME CHOOSE THE FRONT I DIDNT WAIT 3 HOURS FOR STEEL VENGEANCE TO RIDE IN ROW 7
My only gripes is slow/one train ops, closed rides, and annoying guests in line.
Yeah, Verbolten could've skipped that final brake hold on the bridge.
They should have weakened the second launch, lowered the main hill enough so that the train takes the final hill as an airtime hill (and played a fitting sound effect), and the ending would feel more like a resolution.
yoooo thanks for using my music! :)
You're welcome. Keep making great music
Mr freez at SFOT has skyrush caliber restraints as well. It really sucks lmaooo
Racer at kings island gave me some really bad jackhammering close to injury
Home park is Knott's, their operations is 50/50 (before the corona). 50% Decent, 50% General Public slowing the operation on purpose (Notable rides are GhostRider due to "cubbies").
I’ve been to a hundred parks in many countries. The worst operations I have ever seen on a single ride were on Sierra Sidewinder.
I keep my mouth shut when complaining about coasters as much as I can
Best always to say nothing 👌
You forgot Fast Lane Passes and General Public.
Yeah, I'll be making a part 2
Damn right. Cedar Fair's Fast Lane system totally sucks compared to what the other chains do
#1 B&M Rattle
Yes, Bad operations are not always caused by the workers but they can also be caused by the guests themselves aka. the GP (no offense to them but). Scenarios:
Like that's a huge safety issue, you can hurt someone or yourself doing that shit, and it can get you ejected and even banned from the park
It's hard not to criticize something that's a major part of your life, but yeah some take it too far
number 5 is the reason why i severely dislike Titan and goliath.
restraints never have rly ruined a ride for me
Have you ridden Superman the ride?
@@XscreamThrills yup, i was expecting the worst, but i actually got a bunch of room, and all it did was just feel a tad bulky when u got airtime, but tbh id rather have the restraints on superman the ride over the modern intamin t bars that intamin uses these days which u can find on the mega lites, formula rossa and ride of steel at darien lake after that ride got new trains
That's great to hear! The restraints didn't bother me until my 5th ride in
@@XscreamThrills i only got 2 rides
#2: "Forceless"
I hate it. Not every coaster can be, has to be or should be i305. It get's really dumb, when they call a B&M Invert with over 4 G's in certain spots, that pulls your whole body through the seat, "forceless"
#1: other people's opinions
Not unique to the coaster world, but guys, respect other peoples opinions. Don't talk shit about people's favorites coasters.
When I saw the title I just thought of skyrush
The one thing I HATE about my home park is that the only coasters are a Vekoma Boomerang and a Vekoma Junior Coaster
What's your home park?
@@XscreamThrills Enchanted Kingdom in the Philippines, the theming there is kinda nice tho
Roughness is the only thing I focus on
I want to say roughness has only bothered me as I've gotten older...but as I've typed this I can remember riding Hercules at Dorney Park when I was a teenager and getting off it feeling like I needed to lay down for the rest of the day.
Assigned seating and stapling are the worst no one can convince me otherwise
number one should be complaining that a park with a bad financial situation to get a new coaster
All parks should get a giga
Idc if i get assigned a row only if it isn’t on the back seat on a though wooden coaster
Love this idea!!!!!
I swear the stupidest complaint ever is the b&m rattle, it basically dose not exists. I have been on scream at magic Mountain and I looked for the rattle. Could not find it. I fell like us enthusiasts are just looking for something to complain about.
The rattle does exist, but not on every b&m
@@XscreamThrills okay but people usually say scream is one of the worst offenders and it glass smooth, I don’t know what people are on about at least with scream
I already know Six Flags Ads are on here
I complain about enthusiasts complaining about things
No kidding. When ACE can collect $100 billion from its membership they can buy a plot of land somewhere and build themselves a members-only enthusiast paradise... nothing but Intamins and RMCs, no coaster shorter than 400 feet, no coaster slower than 200 mph, no stapling/over the shoulder restraints, etc. Hell, ACE should just buy Intamin.
How much money do you think ACE has? Lol
@@XscreamThrills Exactly my point...
wood coaster good
The people that hate coasters the most are coaster enthusiast lol
LOL, unless its Fury, SV or El Toro :)
Nitro has a great crew and they just send trains.
Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill
Too late!
It’s funny they call themselves “enthusiasts” but do noting positive really just bash rides every chance they get that are other’s favorite rides at their home park
Why did I find this so funny l
Well at least one person did 👍
I’m sure more people did
Oh and here is a complaint, why are six flags choose the middle east to put their 525 ft 155 mph rollercoaster? They finally took an incredible risk and hired the best manufacture of all time and they choose Saudi Arabia of all places, somewhere hard to get to and not known for rollercoasters. I don't know what to think about it one hand, it is a beautiful masterpiece that I want to ride, on another hand, they choose the middle east of all places. Also, their USA parks are not yet all superior and they choose to focus on an entirely new park.
The Saudi Arabia park is using the Six Flags name, but funded by a separate company
@@XscreamThrills IDK that
@@XscreamThrills Even though I have full-on confidence in Intamin, I still believe the park will be a flop. For one, it is incredibly easy to get arrested in Saudi 2. I do not see the GP going to Saudi, I am not even doing it and I am a thusi 3. My risk management teacher brings up a good point There are fewer safety precautions in Saudi Arabia for rollercoasters than here. However, I also believe that Cedar fair is going to do something like this in the future and the thought of a 500 ft ride coming to the US excites me to no end. The point you bring up though does make sense, I understand now that Six flags did not decide it. I still do not believe it is a good idea though.
What I was saying is six flags didn't choose to put this giant coaster here, quiddya who is funding the park did. This will be one of toughest theme parks for any one to visit with their strict laws
What's the edges click on this video haven't watched it yet let's see if I nail this........
number 5 length of ride/ride too short
number 4 restraints
number 3 not enough airtime
number 2 pacing
number 1 how nothing compares to SteVe/RMC
Well I had a few right.
Vekoma SLC.
boomarangs .... they’re not that bad guys
The roller coaster that started my love of coasters was a Boomerang, so even though they get hated on, I will ride one wherever I see it and be glad about it.
@@ScientificallyStupid same!!
I new “one train ops” or bad operations would be here
I like turtles
Well this didn’t age well
