    This brings back fond memories PawPaw, The year was 1977. I was 12 years old and about a month into 7th grade. Our chemistry teacher that year taught us how to make wine from koolaide. Almost like your most peculiar wine. Instead he told us to make koolaide and add an extra cup of sugar to a half gallon, add yeast and a balloon with a pinhole to the top. My very first was rootbeer koolaide wine LOL. There was a classfull of 12 year olds that had gotten drunk off their homemade koolaide wine that year. Rock on PawPaw! I enjoy your videos.

    I was recently relieved of my financial wellbeing but I still like going on a liquid vacation from time to time...thanks to your uploads I've been able to do just that. I used to drink Chateau neuf de Pope on a daily basis, but $60-$80 dollar bottles of wine are currently not an option for me so I've taken to drinking your Chateau neuf de Poop. It's not good or bad..just a different means to an end. Thanks for your tutorial.

    Oh yeah i just left a message on another vid. This one juat crossed my feed. Your peculiar wine. Well i "accidentially" freeze my wine. Then let half of it to thaw. You increase the alcohol then. So if I brew 5 gallons then freeze it I get a higher abv. Then add a koolaid pack of whatever. Bam I have black cherry or whatever the flavor.

    What a flashback!! I'm going back watching your old video's about wine making. (I just found your channel a couple of weeks ago) I remember my Uncle making wine back in the '50's. He would take a couple of bottles, put in the mix then put a balloon on the bottle. He put the bottles on top of the refrigerator, where it's a little warmer, then over a few weeks the balloon would inflate then after a while they would go down. He always said, "when the balloon goes down, the wine is ready" being a little boy I never knew what exactly he meant, now I know. I've got to try this method. Your a lot of fun Paw Paw!! I watched both of your live streams yesterday, what a Hoot!!!

    I got two fifths of this (Five O'Clock Vodka bottles, started 9/8) and another 1.5qts (2qt Gatorade bottle, started this morning) of Peculiar going. That's in addition to the Great Value Grape started 9/11. I'm gonna make sure I don't ever again have to get boozed up on anything store-bought by the end of the month.
    Us kids got told that the reason Mom's bread was rising was 'cause of "bug farts". Thought you'd get a kick out of that. Well, I fed my little animals plenty of sugar, and I've been watching them poop out alcohol for about a week now. OMG, the bubbles! When they either run out of food or kill themselves off with booze (dem hardcore party animals!), then I'll be toasting them proper!
    My hubs has told everyone (every cashier, bank teller, customer, co-worker, EVERYBODY) "Have a wonderful day" for years! It's always been his signature. But now every time I hear him, I wanna step all over it by tacking on "and a better tomorrow!"
    You do that, PawPaw!

    Hello from Western Kentucky. You asked that we wait until our wine was finished before asking you any questions and I did. I don't have any questions, because it worked fantastic! My homemade blackberry wine, made with our own blackberries tested out 10% alcohol! I watched your easy to make wine videos, because I thought I should be able to freeze distill homemade wine into alcohol I could use to make tinctures and such. Never thought the day would come when I couldn't go to a store and buy vodka to make stuff from, but here we are, 2020, wearing masks, social distancing, and waiting for the government to tell us what to do next. Granny don't like that. Thank you for your help.

      As long as it is still bubbling, it is still making alcohol. When it is finished, I usually put a shot of lemon juice in a glass of ice and pour this over it. It also works great with an UNsweetened drink mix. One brand we have here is KoolAid.

    I have made many batches of Paw Paws Peculiar wine and love it, this stuff kicks ass straight up, i have used honey even and wow that was very tasty, i have tried molasses as well but that tasted very bad to me hahahah i started out just learning how to make Paw Paws homemade wine then started to play around with different mixes of sugars upping the sugar which seems to work ok but not like it does if you follow the recipe, i am thinking if i use a distillers yeast my extra sugar may work just fine, if you do what Paw Paw tells you it will work, just listen to Paw Paw, learn how to make it first then go play with it all and figure out what you want out of it

On the same day I also started a Sizer and a blueberry wine from juice, each batch is 10 liters.... FYI, I live in Indonesia where the room temperature is rarely below 25c, usually it is 30c, how much effect do you think this will have? Keep the video's coming... Regards Fred... Just started a half gallon with 1.5 packed cups of brown sugar, as well a half gallon with about a cup of white sugar and just over half a cup of honey. Gonna try freeze distilling them as there should be very very little methanol if any in a sugar fermentation.
    Also got a batch of your regular wine going from some Ocean Spray Cran-Grape, should be awesome. I'm considering fortifying some of that with some jacked up Most Peculiar Wine. I had started a batch a couple weeks ago from a different video using a jug and an airlock, and while it did seem to work, your method is a lot simpler. Thank you PawPaw, you now have a new subscriber :)

Then Thunderbird also did the same kind of thing that they used to sell to the indian tribe just outside of the town I lived by and they would fortify that as well ! I saw the put a coffee like you drink the freeedried coffee. Any way they would try to just give them any thing to keep them from getting ahchol poisening. That is what they used too tell us in our health class. I guess health class should have showed us how to make it too ! Take care and we will see you in the next video !

      I went to a really good mead making class just yesterday, at a local brewing supply shop. The class was supposed to last 2 hours, but went on for more like 3. Had lots of great info from a guy who is opening up a brewery specializing in mead. We sampled several different meads, got a bit of a buzz and had a good time. Also ran into an old friend there who is now a beekeeper. Planning to get up with him in the spring to buy some honey from him, and possibly get my own hives started.

    • @bob21801
      @bob21801 7 років тому +1

      We got to sample several meads yesterday, made from a variety of honeys and flavored with various fruits, berries, herbs and spices. Each one was quite distinct, but all delicious. There was one called "tej", made using a honey from Ethiopia, and some kind of root I believe. Another, a French style called Bochet' was made by first cooking down the honey until it was caramelized. I think my favorite was made with cranberries and blood oranges. I plan to start a 3 gallon batch within the next week, as I have a chance. I just bottled up 3 gallons of triple berry wine and need to bottle up a 5-gallon batch of white cranberry wine.

    Hey Paw Paw, makin your wine for the first time today. Also going to try this water wine, gonna call it Holy Wine or Jesus Wine... hahaha. I wanted to try the wine with some mango/peach juice that I got yesterday, but it turned out not to be 100% juice, so I went out and got another bottle today. White grape/peach. Hope it turns out. I never did really like wine, but I think if I try it with some juice flavors that I really like, then it would be ok. Grampa gave me some homemade blueberry wine and that was pretty good. Do you think your wine would turn out good with homemade juices (apple, grape, blueberry, watermelon,etc)? Have you ever tried making the wine out of juices that dont say 100% juice? I'm thinking, if you can make it out of just water, then why not any juice?

    If you want to be fancy with this recipe, its a Swedish Kilju recipe that got a lot of poor people through a serious economic depression. Add a bit of lemon juice to it and its actually quite good

    I was inspired to make the alcohol wash...Then I got to thinking...I have Tang in my preps. It already has some sugar so I just went for it...1 gallon Tang mix to 2 1/2 cups sugar, watered to about 3 and 1/2 qts.

    Did you forget to poke a couple pinholes in that orange balloon? The pinholes will allow the fermentation gasses to escape, while keeping the outside air out.

    Rhubarb gives plenty of juice and is a fine wine. One note ~ it is very bubble even when a wide shoulder is left within the jug. I just let it rock and spit some and replace the air-lock with a clean one. It only gets better.

    Would this mixture be considered MOONSHINE? If not do you have a quick receipt for
    it? Love your show and watch you most every day. Thank you

    • @DoingItCheap
      @DoingItCheap  7 років тому +2

      Moonshine is just pure alcohol. This could be considered similar to the "mash". It has fermented and contains alcohol. To make traditional moonshine, you heat the mixture in a sealed system to a temperature above the boiling point of alcohol but below the boiling point of water. Then you condense the alcohol steam back into a liquid. That is your moonshine. An easier way is to freeze your concoction for a few days and pour off the liquid that did not freeze (alcohol)

      So I was thinking one of my later projects might be freeze concentrating some Peculiar and using it to top off some Panty-Dropper. Voila! Fortified wine, like a port or a Madeira. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

    Paw Paw, I'm so excited as tonight I am going to try my hand at making wine with Welch's 💯 concord grape! Quick question if I may sir, I'm a Yahoo Mountain Dew addict and I was curious, if I had 2 quarts of dew, could I make spiked dew? I realize that the carbonation would be lost, but I just think that mountain dew wine would be delicious!!!

    • @DoingItCheap
      @DoingItCheap  5 років тому +4

      I can tell you what you are doing right !!!! LOL !! Thanks for subscribing to my channels !! Now, the wine. You are gonna see more activity with the grape juice as there is not only sugar you added but the fructose from the grape juice. With the water, all you have for food to feed the yeast is the sugar you put in. It took my water about twice as long to cook off as the juice ones....... did you maintain the ratio of one quart, one cup, 1/4 teaspoon in your gallon jug ?

    • @Ninja9687_
