The Wireworld seems to offer the best of both worlds...great clarity and coherence without adding any warmth or brightness. Great balance. Very musical. I could also live with the Cardas, but probably not #3.

3 musicians/audiophiles (if we must be labeled) using Sennheiser 650s, going direct into a Benchmark DAC on the first set of 3 A/B tests and a Dave TT DAC on the second set of A/B tests could not pass/hear differences. We listened around 10:30 and 13:00 for 15 seconds or so and heard the exact tone, dynamics etc. If there is a difference in sound, from what we could hear, it was not enough to take up time i could be spending listening to different tubes that audibly CHANGE the sound, with ease, of the amp/system. I'm sure they sound better than the common everyday PCs that you see, which is good enough for me. Which would then leave me to choose the easiest on the pocket. Anyway, I appreciate the test, nice work indeed.
These level of cables are not meant for entry level audiophile, I agree on a senny 650 you wouldn’t notice much, try a Hifiman Arya or 800s and it’s quite noticeable. Also judging the audio quality of a UA-cam video is absolutely useless. Who knows what it was recorded in, how UA-cam converted it etc etc.
I could live with any of the 3 cable sets, since they all sound good with some minor differences between them. It's just a matter of selecting gear that suit your taste at this level of gear. On your next video, would it be possible to play some music which has some acoustic instruments? The track you played is processed pop music, which makes it kind of difficult to evaluate the true value of your gear. As a suggestion, you could try 'Early Reflections' album by Bennie Maupin Quartet. This album of smooth jazz is very well recorded with killer midrange! This channel is real fun! 3 had the best sound stage, resolution and overall tonality. I’m a sucker for 1 (Cardas) organic midrange and it’s smooth/sweet treble. 2 sucked out the mids too much on first listen but was redeemed by the prominent bass. My preference in descending order is 3, 1, 2.
Sorry but I'm confused. I thought in the video you said you're comparing Cardas w/ WW Silver 8 XLR because of cable length. But on your title (as well as caption), it's saying Platinum 8. So was it actually Platinum 8 XLR or Silver 8 XLR you're using in this comparison?
All these comments based on what they are hearing after being compresed into mp3 format for UA-cam then being played mostlikely from their phone. Playing an expensive system to youtube is like judging the speed of a greyhound Dog in a 10 ft. Kennel.
Cardas are more warm and relaxed in the mids/highs. Wireworld are more detailed and extended in the mids/highs and a bit more bass. I think there is not third cable, the #3 seems to be the same WWP. I ended learning this song :D
I suspect neither cable has been settled in as required for these cables. The Cardas should be run in for several days in place. So, this test is really questionable. Shame that high end cables need that.
In my case after trying various silver and silver clad copper cables, I recently replaced my ANAP speaker cables with the Wireworld Silver Eclipse 8. It has given me the middle ground. A good cross between silver and copper. The Wireworlds seem to bevery neutral and allow me to hear very minute differences in other changes in my system. in my book they are a bargain. I will be trying their interconnects next. Good job with your videos and thread on Agon. Thx!
After getting th though many a powercable I settled on the platinum Elektra 8 on cd and Siver Elektra on amp Wish i hadnt sold the platinum 7 intervonnects...but we live and learn
My preference: #1 Wire World, #2 3???, #3 Cardas - - Wire World was the most coherent of the 3 cables, I was hearing more music than speaker drivers. Something that bothers me about Wilson speakers, cable matching (upstream too, not just the speaker cables) is so important, even with their lower level models. The Cardas, too much "in your face detail" for me, the #3??? has a slightly bloomy and maybe a touch deeper but not blurred bottom end. You mentioned that there could be a "break in" factor going on and I agree, it's a pain that most high end equipment takes like 500 to 700 hours to sound best including cables, at least in my experience. By the way Jay, I'm not seeing the ARC preamp, if you dumped it before it was fully broken in you may have done yourself a disservice, although it did sound terrible the last time you paired it up.
Jay: Playing this through a computer of similar does not reproduce your test properly so we can't tell. All reviewers never stick their neck out and tell you which product stands out above others. They are afraid of pissing the losers off. You're not really tied to anyone so we need you to tell us which is best to you and why. Some of us listen to different types of music so, for example I am a drummer so I listen for cutting treble that brings forward the high hats and ride cymbal, plus I want big bass and about 50% mid range dialed back. Someone who listens to say Patricia Barber's "What a shame" off Cafe Blue is looking for that mid rangey female voice recored in a smokey jazz room with brushes on the drum head. That's coming from a flat mid-range style of speaker. So, if one of these stands out as "in your face" life type presentation that gives the likes of me what I'm looking for, then present that to us with no fear of pissing off those that don't give that result. Some look for that flat sound so you actually are catering for everyone in your overall opinion. I just made the mistake of my life. I bought a pair of B&W 801 D4 and have never been so disappointed. Lesson learned, all of the reviewers are looking for that warm and soft result. I am not!

WW has come a long long way from the 90 when I first heard them...... very musical and palpable sounding.... they need more break in as it seem a bit sizzling on top. The WW would be my choice.
From these two, Wireworld all the way. Less obtrusive, nothing of that "look what I can do"-attitude. All the detail without being harsh and fatiguing. Bass was also hitting in a more precise way. I wonder how the Mini Eclipse 8 compares.

cardas is more mature sound a little richer in the mids. wireworld a little more air but not much more and its thinner. It is slightly brighter and at first untrained listeners will like that but the cardas is more tonally accurate.
WireWorld all the way, more nutural, more dynamic and more even in the response. i feel it most realistic in tone and decay. i will tell you that you only have heard the WireWorld Silver Eclipse 8 in this test of WireWorld. It is very important to use same cable manufacturer when you compare cables. Every manufacturer have their own tunes, and preference. WireWorld, Cardas, Nordost etc. use the same brand all the way if you can, and in the same range in their series.
judging after listening to the original song... the overall balance of the recording is like very bad in the first place, dry bass and a midrange full of air not natural at all i think it would be great if you use a good quality mic first

I found the Platinum 8 gave me that good tingly feeling...as did #3.

Agree. Cardas has an inexplicable sweetness.

Super funny how some audiophiles relentlessly promote breaking-in components, yet admittedly don't break-in before evaluating.

Highs are clearly better on the Wireworld without a doubt,more splashing sounding on the other cables
I envy those who can distinguish substantial differences between the cables. I can‘t. It‘s all minor. So I will stick to my Kondos Operia SPs 2.7😊

Yes they do...but the rest of your system needs to be at the same level
