I grew up listening to Charlie Jones voice seeing my Chargers. I think 1988 is when I became a lifelong fan.

Doug's brother Darren, only played in the NFL for two seasons, then went to the CFL.

Charlie Jones was Charger Charlie - he did more games for them in his NBC days than anyone else

I think it was mostly because he lived in San Diego.

Jason P yes he did. I knew him for a short time. He did a show called “Charlie Jones: Live to Tape” at a cable network I used to be with in SD

The best chargers uniforms. Don’t like the new uniforms.

I would say it was the Oline in the late 80's that couldnt run block, but the thing is I dont recall ANY of these Miami backs going anywhere else and doing anything more then here and I guess the same can be said for the early to mid 90's,although I almost think PARMALEE went to maybe the JETS and did alright, but a dozen plus backs that I can think of in Marino era and usually the Oline was good for pass blocking, but it had to be the lack of talent and bad drafting as well for the RB's

The '88 version of the Dolphins was just bad. A culmination of about five straight years of abysmal draft picks, long before free agency gave teams a chance to rebuild in one or two years, the talent level was poor across the board. Absolutely terrible running game and a porous defense. No wonder Marino was hinting at wanting to be traded.

So 2:03:49 what in tf was that??Davenport literally had green grass on the outside and started going that way, then just stopped and turned back into the Defender that was coming on that angle?!?!I just cant help but think its a scripted play,he just was not supposed to gain yards here, because NO RB is going to do that, there was just green grass, like he realized hes not supposed to be able to gain yards on this play, very, very odd and strange thing is tho, this trio of backs in the late 80's for Fins did exactly THIS a lot,I mean how bad of a back are u that u need to follow ur blocks even if their closed up,but u have the wide open side u are heading toward??If it trily is that they lost their blocks, then u have yourself a back with truly NO VISION at all man!!

I will say this, whoever drafted for the FINS in the 80's which it was probably SHULA I was a young teenager then and just remember hearing about him and nobody else really, but if it was Don,the backs he drafted really, lacked explosive running and had ZERO vision,HAMPTON and STRADFORD BOTH were pretty awful backs,I think it was STRADFORD who had all them TD's in 87 If I remember correctly, but they were all goaline, never cared for any of the backs they drafted and I think JJ actually drafted a better back his first season in MIAMI with JABBAR,who by no means was great, but just remember these two and guys like SAMMIE SMITH and MARK HIGGS,although the two best were probably HIGGS and the best might have been the dude off the streets BERNIE PARMALEE oh and honorable mention here to TERRY KIRBY who was a good recieving back but not very much on the ground, but all in all nobody special or even starting caliber until maybe LAMAR SMITH in 00 season after MARINO retired nd of course finally the best back in FIN history in 02 RICKY WILLIAMS got traded to them, yes better then the trio of SB era backs imo!!easy with me,they were the OG's man!!

So I grew up in CT a die hard FIN fan from 84 on but we only got a handfull of games per yr and going back and getting to watch all these gms on YT I have come to the conclusion,MARKS BROS dropped a TON of passes,I mean a lot!!They were good, but I always thought maybe they were underappreciated but NO they were not, because they were not ELITE by no means, even tho they were good,I think Dans numbers should have been so much crazier which also means probably should have translated to more WINS,so again SHULA kind of just dropped the ball man,he let the D go to crap and then once he finally got the D in order made sure to keep a horrible DC for WAY too long!!I have even more respect TODAY for DAN MARINO because he had a lot going against him, I'm sure most remember the MARKS BROS fondly but I just could not believe EVERY game I watched these guys, either one or BOTH were just dropping passes, usually right in their chest or hands, not saying they were BAD but I damn sure would not say ELITE either, also BOTH were mostly body pass catchers instead of hands,so lots of balls bouncing off the pads and what I noticed is that it may have been that early to mid 90's recieving corp that was better, but Dan was getting older and took a serioys injury with that group and realky if no injury in 93 I'm pretty sure he has an even better season then 94 or at least on par, becaise he did have a quality group around him,FRYAR,INGRAHAM,JACKSON,
    BYARS,McDUFFIE!!
