How the Grinch Stole Christmas (also known as Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas or The Grinch) is a 2000 American Christmas fantasy comedy film directed by Ron Howard, who also produced with Brian Grazer, from a screenplay written by Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman. The film was based on Dr. Seuss's 1957 children's book of the same name, as the first Dr. Seuss book to be adapted into a full-length feature film and the first of only two live-action Dr. Seuss films (followed by The Cat in the Hat in 2003). This was also the second adaptation of the book (after the 1966 animated TV special of the same name).

Jim Carrey was absolutely perfect as the Grinch
Apparently he ad-libbed a lot of the dialogue!

I’m actually obsessed with this movie now. Watched it again for Christmas. He just did such a perfect job!🤩
The Grinch never really hated Christmas- he heated the who’s- which is understandable as they were total jerks
If you’re wondering how Grinch got Max, it’s implied that max was a present that was thrown away in the garbage because if you remember the grinch was giving a speech about how all the presents the whovilles don’t want end up at the grinch’s lair, which would explain why the grinch has max which is so sad when you think about it because someone in whoville got max as a puppy and didn’t want him and threw him away.
I love the way Jim Carrey sang the iconic song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" while adding his own comedic elements to it like the hilarious sound effects. And his freak out when the sleigh takes off. "We're going to die!! We're going to die!! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm going to die!! Mommy, tell it to stop!!"
Also, I really love how the actress who played Cindy Lou, Taylor Momsen went on to be the front woman and lead singer of a band called The Pretty Reckless. Also, I can sympathize with the Grinch, having been a victim of bullying growing up. I know the feeling of not liking people because of it.
I especially like it when he sang "I wouldn't touch you with a..." in a Cab Calloway imitation.
Martha May still has feelings for the Grinch throughout the movie cause she’s wearing the antique jewel as a crown that was made from the Grinch also her wearing green eyeshadow and awesome reaction

Yeah, the tree that The Grinch steals by sawing through the floor Looney Tunes style, the ornaments are meant to be donuts because in an extended version of this scene (which was shortened for pacing reasons), it belongs to the Police Who as after The Grinch did steal it, he hears him saying "Show me the hands where I can see them!" which The Grinch does, but it turns out that Officer Who is sleep-walking, so he leads him to a closet and close the door.

2:06 this is real accurate cause the widow of Dr Seuss was on hand and even met with Jim Carrey to see if he could do the role. He was filming “Man in the Moon” at the time and had to pretend to be Andy Kaufman(his character) playing Jim Carrey playing the Grinch. Jim Carrey’s Grinch facial expressions was his own face with no special effects. It’s weird watching him do it without the makeup on. There’s a clip on UA-cam. 12:21 if you notice in her hair she has a jewel in her hair that was part of the angel the grinch made for her. 18:15 I wonder if the Mayor had this planned if the Grinch did show up.

Yes, Taylor Momsen! She voluntarily quit acting as she got older, but she has said before that singing “Where Are You Christmas” is one of the things that sparked her inspiration to pursue music!

Hello, Caminator!😊 The 1966 animated Grinch is a classic narrated by Boris Karloff and is pretty hard to beat, but Jim Carey does a great job here in live action. 🏆 Taylor Momsen is Cindy Lou Who. Ron Howard's father, brother (Clint Howard), and daughter (Bryce Dallas Howard) are in this too. Ron Howard dedicated this to his mother who passed away the same year this came out. Great reactions to this live action Christmas classic, Cami!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
Yes and the singer who sang “You’re a mean one Mr Grinch” was the same voice actor who did Tony the Tiger’s voice on the Frosted Flakes commercials

They signed Carrey at the height of his career and the studio didn’t want to put him in the prosthetics because they didn’t want to cover up the face of the man they were paying 20 million dollars to be their lead and they quickly realized that you couldn’t cover up his face enough for people to not know that was Jim Carrey.

19:44 My problem with the Whos in this movie is that they all just very soulless and greedy and only care about material stuff (in the book and the original TV special with Boris Karloff, the whos are supposed to be the complete opposite of the grinch, they’re nice, joyful, good hearted, and already know the true meaning of Christmas)
I get it that is the point in the movie of them being soulless I get it, but that kind of goes against the point of the book itself. The grinch shouldn't have to be the one who spells the message out for them, *he's the one who's supposed to learn the lesson.*
The movie got it so backwards and you honestly side with the grinch in that scene after everything you saw in this film tell me you don't understand why he thinks christmas is so stupid, he's absolutely right.
Yeah! That detail kinda threw me off when I first saw it! I still really enjoyed it! But I was like wait a minute, but who’s there supposed to be more innocent and pure.
