  • After a decade-long journey of restoring 980 acres of Northern tallgrass prairie, the most endangered ecosystem in North America, stewardship of Abbey Grasslands has been passed along to a fourth-generation ranching family in South Dakota's Whetstone Valley.
While restoration is never complete, it is an ongoing process, one that changes alongside a multitude of factors. While prairie evolves we must remain mindful that we, as humans, create evolutionary impacts that affect the entire circle of life. Preserving biodiversity preserves ourselves.
Much gratitude to the monks of Blue Cloud Abbey who graciously presented me with an opportunity to care for this place, and for one monk in particular, Brother Chris, for his steadfast labor and care to resurrect this prairie. Thanks also to Kasuske Farms for your vision into the future, for choosing Abbey Grasslands as a family legacy farm.
    Long Live the Prairie.
