How can you not include "They're Coming to Take Me Away Again" by Napoleon IV? The only thing quirkier on the '45 was the flip side. Where the song was played BACKWARDS! Y'all missed the boat on that one.
"Do you remember the day you ran away and I got on my knees and beg you not to leave because I'd go berserk? Well you left me anyways, and then the days got worse and worse, and now I've gone completely out of my mind." ....... "I'll call the ASCPA you mangy mutt".
One adaptation of Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky emerged a few years ago at Old Trafford, Manchester United's ground: "Going on up to the spirit in the sky, That's where you'll find me when I die. And when I've died and they've laid me to rest - I'm going on the booze with Georgie Best." A rather eccentric tribute to the supremely talented player that was George Best...

I was born in 1964 and don't know many of these songs or groups/musical artists. But, as I got older through the years, I've heard some of these songs played on the radio or on television and became very familiar with them. It's always good to be taken back to an era where good music was treasured.
@@nicktaylor2657 agreed. Everyone just assumes it was lyrically Morrison though. My opinion of RK is he may be the most underrated musician in rock. I read about when GM wanted to use the song in the Opel commercial. After Jim told them he forbade the song from being used he threatened to go on live TV and beat the car with a sledgehammer to the song... Robby Krieger joked in a much later date, possibly after Morrison's death, said "what if I wanted to make some money? It was my song after all..." saying it like a kid who was told by his parents he couldn' t run a lemonade stand. Absolutely priceless.
Are you an American? Because if you are British that band were one of the biggest chart acts of the sixties. Having big hits like Hold Tight, Bend It, Save Me, OK, Zabadak, Last Night In Soho as well as others that weren't so big, but still made the top twenty. As for their American success, if any, I can't say but I guess they probably weren't anywhere near as big as they were in their native UK
The Honeycombs released a B side here in the UK, not sure what the A side was, that has an uncanny resemblance to Rock Lobster by the B52's which in 1964 would have made it one of the weirdest records of the year. But then again it was written and produced by Joe Meek. In the UK the Honeycombs were not technically One Hit Wonders as the follow up to Have I The Right, Its Because, also made the charts though was nowhere near as big.
Exactly. Less talk and more music. You can hear the great full-length and original versions in great Mono by clicking on my name for my blog's address. Whenever I mention it on UA-cam my comment gets deleted

IMO, the record sleeves for the various singles were interesting to see. Does he own all the singles? If not, finding pictures of all the sleeves, either online or in someone else's collection, must have taken awhile. I'd agree that the static added to give an "old timey" look is a bit distracting. The video didn't need that.

These were the days I was being raised even though there were one hit wonders. They still stick in my head in my mind have fun.
Angel of the Morning - Merrilee Rush is the best of the list in my opinion.
“Winchester Cathedral” belongs here.
The all-time champs of One Hit wonders are the Elegants, their "Little Star" peaked at #1 and never even had another make the Top 100.

Totally agree……….i still have my 45 (original sleeve) that I got in 1966 for my 14th Birthday Day. 🤙🌴👍

Yeah great song about a guy going crazy cuz his dog ran away.

I think it's called 'They're coming to take me away, Ha-Haaa'🤙🏼
The Riverias California Sun was also in The Doors
It sure was when Jim was walking on Venice Beach
I Remember These Songs 🎵 😊

Good artists and songs!
Every time I hear SUGAR SUGAR, I think the best bike I ever had: An electric blue Schwinn Stingray that I named CANDY GIRL.❤❤❤😊😊😊
I like two more songs on the list Bruce Channel 's Hey Baby and The Outsider's Time Won't Let Me!

The bulk of it was If you see the credits it's credited to The Doors

They were not a one hit wonder 🤩

How is Bobbie Gentry a one hit wonder? She charted 11 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and four singles in the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart.
That decade was a Golden Age of music.I thought In a Gadda Da Vida was Elvis Presley the first time I heard it.

More video, less complaining.
Anyone else thought that the girl on the thumbnail was Margot Robbie? 😂
Herb Alpert had a hit in 1968 “This Guy’s In Love With You.”
Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass were definitely not a one hit wonder.
Yes... but! Herb was a super tight wad"
Herb is still out there producing music ,what rock have you been hiding under ?
A song written by
Burt Bacharach and Hal David is hardly a
"One Hit Wonder".
Iron Butterfly was not a one hit wonder band.
Again how are The Honeycombs a one hit wonder, the charted 2 records in the US, and 4 hits in the UK
The word "horror" at 1:09 sounds like a different word.
Good News week, the hedgehoppers
Good News Week-Hedgehoppers Anonymous!
Some of the pics show musical monsters ,not " one hit eonders"
It's ZAGER & Evans, NOT Zagga & Evans
Who's the blonde lady in the thumbnail?
Poor research
Whatever the inspiration or the lyrical subject, Spirit in the Sky is NOT in any way, shape or form gospel.
Iron Butterfly had but one hit?
I believe so, look them up.
Most of these are "KIDDY ROCK "
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.
