1960s engines are engineering marvels compared to the nightmares of needless complexities that have been added. Glad I chose an S type over an F. Not any more fun to work on but the ride is worth it.
I had a water pump replaced on my 2016 f type and after the replacement there was a leak. I have taken the car to 3 different places and they are all trying to charge me $3200 just to replace all of the hoses instead of looking for which on is actually leaking. I know it shouldn’t cost that much to just replace hoses. After watching you video, I’m guess the radiator hose is probably my issue since you stated that that hose should be replaced when replacing the water pump.
I had a similar issue when we replaced our water pump on the F Pace (same 3.0 L engine if a V6) and the cause was the o ring between the water pump and the outlet tube he replaced just behind the water pump
@@rolandopacheco9985 Wow bro, same car i have and same problem. I replaced all the plastics for aluminium but put it back together and it is leaking from waterpump seems from behind it. like the small connection from it to the oil cooler. You said it was the O ring? could you explain more please? Thanks so much i am in need of any info or help.
@@therealcyrus between the water pump and the oil cooler is an oil cooler tube, it has two o-rings. One on the male side (which connects to the water pump and is the main cause of the leak) and the other is in the female port which connects to the oil cooler. You want to make sure that the o-ring does not fold or bend to where it can cause coolant to leak. It has to be stiff enough to create a proper seal between the tube and the water pump. Some vendors use cheap o-ring material which fails immediately. I ended up purchasing OEM from Jaguar to make sure the leak stopped. Which it did after purchasing from Jaguar.
@@rolandopacheco9985 Thanks much bro, it’s currently rotting in my driveway until it’s fixed. I’m going to be taking another look tomorrow. i got aftermarket Aluminum piece but will use OEm gasket O ring. Everytime we replace and test by just filling water it keep leaking from there. Thanks hopefully will be fixed soon
Thanks for posting. It was great to hear your opinion on the difficulty of the repair.

Very helpful. Would be better if you didn't fast-forward through some of the process though.
How much do you charge for this kind of job?
We charged 2.1 hours labor (which we probably lost on) plus parts, which were around $380 I think.
My mechanic just charged me $1000 to replace the water pump
@@automotiveinsight You diamond 😇😇
