The JR Smith moment was dumb and meme worthy but I've always found the idea that it ultimately made a diference in the Warriors winning the Finals ridiculous. Even if the Cavs won game 1 and they were "confident", that Dubs team was way better, it would have ended in 5 (tops 6) for the Steph-KD Warriors.

If Simmons does get signed by a team i say the spurs would welcome him he still provides defense abilities and passing spurs only needed a dominant defender which simmons can also convert himself as a big time defender like tony allen did. If Simmons can ever succeed into converting his playstyle into a big time defender that would really be helpful for the spurs this is the only team that simmons can go with.

The 76ers has the easiest path to the Conference Finals that year out of any playoff team, and for Ben Simmons to play terrible and costing his team multiple times, yeah I don't blame Phily fans for criticizing him. Now I did pick the Hawks to win that series for 2 reasons, I thought the Kawks had a chance to win the series because I was being delusional, and 2, I just really really the 76ers and their rude and terrible fanbase

Benny-boy scared of dunking over Trae Young was actually an IMPROVE for him in that series! Most offensive possessions he would just take the ball passed the mid-court, pass it to someone and stay there, and the Sixers would play 4 against 5. No wonder they had a ton of turnovers, it's kinda hard to make plays when your opponent can double team without fearing some player is open.

Exactly! I still can’t believe that my Cavaliers had the golden opportunity to hand Golden State their first Game 1 Finals loss until JR Smith dribbled the ball to half court instead of immediately taking a shot right after grabbing the offensive rebound off the missed 2nd free throw attempt by George Hill! I will never forgive Smith for making one of the biggest mistakes of his life!

Andrea Bargnani playing for the Italian Squad: 😈
Andrea Bargnani playing anywhere else: 🐥
I remember that Italy was a threat for so many years when they had Gallinari, Belinelli and Bargnani(plus Gentile and Datome). He was suddenly a hungry dog and had grit and could make 3s fall from anywhere. That squad was crazy but, as soon as summer was over, Bargnani's energy suddenly bannished. It was also not about NBA's level, bc when he came to Spain to play for Baskonia he was trash and they cut him after a year. I think it was all about his own motivation. Playing with his friends made him give 150% and play thru injuries and pain, but elsewhere it was just a 9-5.

The 2019 Game 7 against Toronto is where Simmons career changed. That game was only close because of his very efficient D on Kawhi. Then Embiid had to play hero, cut off Simmons, and give Kawhi the space to get off a shot with the 3rd most space he had in the 2nd half.
I'm 100% sure he was given the task to stay with Kawhi *no matter what* play the Raptors ran for him. But, of course the self-proclaimed "best player in the World" couldn't take a step back and allow Simmons to be the hero. That's why Embiid was crying so hard after the shot went in, and Simmons had that WTF look towards their bench. It could also be why things went so sour with Jimmy Buckets soooo fast (in his Philly local interviews); that they just assumed he was gone and signed Tobias right away.

All George hill needed to do was just hit one free throw & they win the game.

I watched Game 1 of the NBA finals live and mannnn I was SO pissed, but not at the fact of what JR did, but at the fact that, if GEORGE HILL didn’t brick BOTH of his crunch time free throws which led to JR grabbing the rebound, then JR Smith wouldn’t have been the scapegoat of anything from that night.
I was already screaming at George Hill from my couch before JR sold the game into overtime and was even more mad at the fact he didn’t receive as much backlash that JR did

Even at the time the Bargnani trade made absolutely no sense for the Knicks. If i remember correctly at the time, they almost traded for Kyle Lowry instead but pivoted to Bargnani. Who had no value at the time. And the Knicks gave UP picks. What it was like rooting for the Knicks until the past few years and why they were so bad for so long.

A damn shame ~ Simmons' rookie season was sweet! He became the only player in NBA history to begin a season with at least 170 points, 100 rebounds, and 80 assists in his team's first 10 games. On 29 November, he had 31 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in a 118-113 win over the Wizards. On 22 February, he scored a career-high 32 points, making two free throws with 5.6 seconds left to complete Philadelphia's rally from five points down in the final minute as the 76ers beat the Chicago Bulls 116-115. On 15 March against the New York Knicks, Simmons recorded his second consecutive triple-double and joined Robertson and Magic Johnson as the third rookie in NBA history to reach 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists. A few years later . . .
