Oh how your video brought me joy and a moment of peace! My husband is in the hospital with no indication of when we will go home. Thank you so much for this video! You made my day!
Hello Becky I work 2 jobs and don’t get to watch much tv. I put on your UA-cam videos between jobs and when I get home. Thanks for all your knowledge I’m learning g a lot. I have plans to can and freeze dry garden this year thanks to your videos. I plan to save some money and feed my family !!
That is so easy . I use more powdered sugar than normal sugar so now I know what to do with my extra sugar when it starts to get clumpy . I live in high humidity
My husband's favorite salad dressing was discontinued, Raspberry poppy seed, so I learned to make it from scratch.....he says it's better than the store bought.
@@MFaith777 ,Yes of course.... 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1/4 cup sour cream 2 tablespoons of lemon juice 2 tablespoons of honey 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt 1 clove of garlic finely chopped 6-8 tablespoons of raspberrie juice Blend, bottle, refrigerate will keep for a week ( but it won't last that long, lol.) I use frozen raspberries, add to pot, add a little water and cook, strain, I keep the unused portion of the juice in the freezer .
Great Info. First time I've seen your nails natural. I love how you always have polish on and work with your hands. I don't have much luck with polish.
I have make powered sugar before and love it. I need to try the brown sugar. I also have a recipe for making sweetened condensed milk and it works in recipes just like the canned one. 2/3 cup sugar 1 cup powered milk 1/2 cup boiling water 3 Tbsp melted butter Put into blender and blend for 1 minute. Yield 14 oz (same as can) Always works for me.
In one of your videos you were asking which mixer to buy. I have a professional model Kitchen Aide and then bought a Bosch I will say the kitchen aide cannot match the bower of a Bosch plus you can make multiple loaves of bread in a Bosch and it never bogs down plus I have burned out 2 kitchen aides and I still have my Bosch Mixer which has given me no problems. As far as looks I find My Bosch to look modern and clean on the counter
Hi Becky. I don't know if you know how to make your own Brown Sugar. Its Sugar And Molasses. The more Molasses you add the darker it will be. Also to stop Brown Sugar from hardening up you can buy a terracotta bear at bed bath & beyond. Or if you have a broken terracotta pot you can just make sure you wash it really good and just drop it in there with the brown sugar and it does the same thing.
I tried a few times and it was still more granular then store bought. I did make it without corn starch and mine did clump. I have been more successful with cinnamon powdered sugar because we use them on homemade doughnuts. Going to try again but so much more successful with brown sugar.
In addition to being non-GMO, I purchase organic cane sugar to avoid the processing faux pas of “bone char processing“ that they use for regular white sugar. I’m vegan so prefer not to involve bone char in the processing of sugar. Great video!
So fun! I needed this. I don't know how many times I've had to make a special trip to the grocery store to pick up powdered sugar. Thanks for sharing, Becky ❣️
@@AcreHomestead Hey Becky! I was really wondering if You had the details of that instrumental-track that has the soft drums, piano, acoustic guitar etc.. You have great taste!! from Auckland, NZ

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe it's true there's so many times you need powdered sugar and you don't want to run to the store for it thanks again and have a wonderful day 👍
I’ve been binging your videos for about a week now. I’m really enjoying your content and you’ve inspired me a lot with food processing. Thank you for making good, quality videos, that make it very easy for other to learn. I appreciate it.
I found out about this last year cause I ran out. I just used my little electric coffee grinder - had to really clean the coffee out - but it came out in 15 seconds.
I do want to clarify that Sugar Beets *can be* a GMO crop but unlike corn which almost always is beets aren't necessarily (though it is very common). Why is this important? Sugar Beets can be grown pretty much anywhere, unlike Sugar Cane which has to be imported from the tropics (leading to both environmental costs, and human rights issues). So for those of us who are trying to buy local/regional Beet Sugar can be a good choice. It really comes down to personal values.
For years I only used powdered sugar to make whipped cream for pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I had one extra large bag of powdered sugar last me probably 7-10 years! At the time I didn’t realize it had a starch in it or I wouldn’t have kept using it all those years since starches can go bad. Still it’s funny every year I would pull out that same ancient bag of powdered sugar. It was sort of sad the day it was all used up. All the holidays it had been a part of with family no longer here. :’(
Where the heck was this video when all the stores were out of powdered sugar before Christmas?! 😂 It was crazy & I wasn’t the only one looking for it. Thanks soooo much for the ‘how to’!
I’m really enjoying your channel. What other Homestead UA-camrs do you follow? One of my favorites is Living Traditions Homestead. I also enjoy Three Rivers Homestead. I’m most interested in the gardening and preserving videos.
We make cream of rice cereal the same way. Like you, when we wanted to make Cream of Rice cereal we could not find it in the stores, so thought, why not, make it ourselves. It is quite fun.
As someone who has autoimmune food intolerances (specifically corn!) I really appreciate this. The "organic" powdered sugar with tapioca starch is stupidly expensive 😫
I make my own brown sugar, but never thought to make powdered sugar. I rarely use it, so with knowing how to make it I will have one less container on the counter (the one that holds my powdered sugar) as I will only make it when I need it. Thanks so much Becky!
When u decide to have children... ur going to be an amazing Mother. Your children will know and understand the how to harvest food and sustain without the need for a grocery store. I'm 44 and I think ur Amazing!!
Hi Becky! I found your channel a couple weeks ago and I have absolutely adored getting to know you and learning so much helpful info about cooking and gardening! I’m in college and starting my first garden this year! I have lots of sprouts now and every morning I wake up excited to check on them and care for them. I love watching your videos because I feel like I get to share this newfound passion and joy with you ☺️💘
My mom told me she grew up doing this but I've never tried it. Now that I use mostly organic products I will definitely give it a try because you're absolutely right, it's SOOO expensive in the store!!
Most of the time I love watching your channel just to see what I can learn & what's new with you. I only have myself to cook for so it is a little difficult to come up with new ideas. I'm a typical cajun, so I usually eat the same things that I like, but on occasion I do experiment, I just hate wasting food, so whatever I fix, whether it tastes good or not, I'll eat it, I won't throw it out. I like to cook, don't like to bake, nor am I good at it. You are an amazing young woman. I hope you got my package. 🙋♀️💜
I have a Ninja blender and I did powder sugar in it a while ago. I think I needed to let it blend for a few minutes more though because it looked done but was still a little grainy when I used it.
That looks so easy, it was so quick. The blender adverts try to sell you a very expensive attachment to do things like that (in the UK) so I always thought I could not. Clearly I can. I much prefer free trade unrefined golden sugar so being able to make powdered sugar from that (we call it icing sugar) is a real blessing. Thank you so much Becky. Thanks for the GMO information too. Frances 👌😊
Are you referring to Lyles’s? I have some bottles unopened and the are slightly darker than when first purchased. I’m contemplating whether they are safe to use now.
@@cherylcabral4 Yes. Tate and Lyles. Not sure about the darker bit. Try tasting and googling lol. Sugar should not go off as far as I know, as long as kept in airtight container pref in cool darkness
