Carl managed to work with a number of movie legends over the years who are now sadly gone - Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Jack Palance, Burt Reynolds, and Robert Shaw among them. He's clearly having a grand time when he gets to do comedy, and one of my favorite things he did was playing a version of himself on "Arrested Development".

Great to hear Carl! I think he's thinking of two of my favorite dark comedies from the early 70's: "Harold & Maude" with Ruth Gordon, Bud Cort (was in "M*A*S*H", too), and look out for young Tom Skerritt as the motorcycle cop; and, "A New Leaf" with Walter Matthau and Elaine May (written and directed by her, too). Two weird but perfect movies.

Glad you mentioned Harold & Maude. One of my all-time favorite quirky dark comedies. Everytime I see a Jag E-type at a car show I can't help but think of Bud Cort converting one into a hearse.

Man. I commented 10 months ago that he was 75 years young and looking great. I really meant that too, I figured he'd be around at least another 10 years. 76 is old but still feels too young to go...at least he had a great quality of life for the whole ride and didn't suffer. RIP

He went the same way i'd like to go, fit and healthy up until you aren't around, but I don't think it's a huge shock when you think about it (And tbh, no-one knows it could have happened at the same age anyway) but years of steroids can damage your cardiovascular system, there's a reason so many bodybuilders from arnies day and later died of heart attacks young, I think there's a correlation between testosterone and cholesterol, but anyway, Carl weathers was a legend. You get a bone, throw it in some broth, and vegetables, and baby you got yourself a stew!

Very cool. I am lucky to have known Carl and hang around with him for a time. Really amazing guy. He dropped out of Hollywood to become a rancher in the Pacific NW for a number of years. And yes, he is a great cook!

God can call you home in a second---hell, I could die before I click 'send' here. I hate mortality, but what can you do?
Some jog six miles a day, eat nothing but dark green leaves, and die in their 40s. Others Sit ten hours a day playing video games, living on pizza and Mountain Dew, and die in their 80s. The reverse is also true, but that only proves my point.
