Love the Fountain of Dreams playing as background music. Armada always has great VGM picks for his stream.
Played on UCF once and knew I could never go back. Can't imagine anyone not feeling the same way tbh. Within a month of it becoming easily accessible it became standard at every tournament and meetup in my city. Possibly the best tool that has ever been created for melee players!

I don’t even play melee but it’s awesome hearing this from the #1 player in the world. UCF is currently the best step the community can take in terms of controller issues

I do think that the best solution on the controller issue should it's to let the player use whatever controller they want with the condition that it doesn't have anything like macros, you know like in any other fighting game.

I agree UCF is good but we have to make sure it is on. Have a policy if it isnt on then no play backs. I am not trying to take shots I am just saying we gotta make sure people arent getting screwed out of wins.

I've got UCF on my memory card, but I swear it's not on/working. I can't shield drop any better and my turnarounds/dashbacks aren't any better either. I see the 2D in the top, but is there something I have to do to turn it on?

Nintendo acknowledging Melee is the joke. PM was a mod of a "current" game for quite sometime.
True I suppose xD. I just never underestimate nintendo's ability to throw their weight around just because they can.
Project M didn't get any legal action taken against it, the creators were just worried it would and wanted to instead make something they could make money from. Still have no idea why Twitch doesn't let people play it, though. Possibly because they're also worried that Nintendo will take issue with them? But then why does UA-cam still allow it even with how anal they are about ads?
I think it's just a lot of fear all around that Nintendo will do something. Project M is a mod of an old game as it stood when it was taken down and Nintendo doesn't give a shit about Melee or Brawl. They barely give a shit about Smash 4. Everything else Nintendo took down were standalone projects (not mods) that used assets from their original games, or mods that distributed the original game alongside the mod (the only exception to this I can think of is AM2R, but that possibly had unoriginal assets plus Nintendo was working on their own remake. Melee HD is not coming so we have nothing to worry about). Project M wasn't either of those.
That being said, I don't really think there's any reason at all for Nintendo to say anything or do anything about UCF. It's just not likely given the fact that they don't care about Melee at all and they never really have. It's such a small mod I bet nobody at Nintendo would even notice if they watched a tournament where it was turned on.

Armada. Wasn't there a hack to the controllers that Hax talked about thats cheap and modifies your controller to adapt it to Melee?

I LOVE UCF. UCF FOR LIFE. Ucf is actually the best thing to happen to Melee besides 20XX Hack pack. It's made getting into Melee so much better. I love the progress this game has made

FRAME3 in general if you deal with snap back, you should probably learn to better control the stick (never let your thumb off of it) or understand the SnapBack properties of your specific controller. I have no SnapBack issues ever and I’ve used garbage controllers to tournament viable ones. Then again IF it can fix it, I say it should!

I've actually seen a lot of controllers with this issue. I don't know if he means this, but at the moment of snapping back, a lot of control sticks cause aerial neutral specials to come out the other way. This is specially noticeable for space animals because it affects lasering.
But no; it hasn't been addressed. UCF only fixes platform dropping out of shield and dashing back, according to the 20XX page.
So I'm assuming snapback is a bad thing? lol
I really don't understand why they have issues with it. It sounds like it just puts everyone on an even playing field in the terms of hardware. The players should really get the vote on this one, why should anyone's opinion matter who currently doesn't play melee
Or at least isn't involve in playing in tournaments, they shouldn't have a say in the matter

I'm not entirely sure if UCF is technically illegal. I'm just judging this based on the existence of action replay which you put in the memory card slot, and modifies game data. So I think UCF is fine as long as we are only modifying existing game code and not adding new stuff. Not entirely sure though anyone feel free to correct me
There are less changes, and they are less noticeable, but people are scared of UCF because Nintendo murdered Project M, which is very similar (improving a game by modding the code).
UCF should be able to be toggled On/Off
I would be sad if ucf became a widely used amd nintendo banned it from streams. I am sure many would go back but many may not and as a viewer i would miss good melee like pm.

UnDakotable Blur is against a lot of things because he is a Melee conservative.
He's just a purist who doesn't want to change the game. He's pretty heavy on the business side of melee so he probably believes nintendo will get pissed.

big difference between ''doesn't support'' & ''actively trying to shut down'', always a risk with companies like Nintendo
They only actively tried to shut down PM because it is a whole different game using Nintendo characters and system. UCF is still Melee in branding and presentation. Also, worst case scenario, if Nintendo WERE to have a cow, you just remove UCF revert back to melee. Not really any risk here.

Yeah, it basically is a mod that just tries to replicate a “good” controller in Melee. Which are naturally occurring but there’s variation across controllers unfortunately. The idea is that it removes the luck side of having a good controller

I'm opposed. I only it's been said tons of times, but if we going to play a hack, why don't we just play PM? It has customizable controls, better balance, better input range, more stages. I don't understand why PM died because it's a hack, while now melee has to be a hack to survive.
Justin Jones it died because nintendo was sending cease and desists to people who streamed and organized it. It still has a community but no major source streams it.

Project M is WAY more than that though. It's a completely different game from Melee honestly. Way more stuff you have to take into account (unique techs, chars, stages, matchups), regardless of how technically easier it is to play.
UCF just helps fix controllers for Melee. It is a hack, but it doesn't add anything crazy into the game like aerial glide tossing, new characters, not even easier moonwalking/recovery angles. It's still Melee, just a more accessible version of it.
