  • This is a movie about riding my bicycle across Europe. I rode through the Golden Hills of Tuscany, over the Majestic Swiss Alps, down the Blue Rivers of Austria, along the Medieval Castles in Germany, and ended in Amsterdam (The Bicycle Capital of the World). This film features Massive Mountain Passes, Stealth Camping, Hitch Hiking, and Fast Downhills.

    By FAR, one of THE BEST VIDEOS / FILMS I’VE EVER SEEN here on UA-cam or elsewhere. EXTREMELY WELL DONE!!! I’d watch your vlogs for hours. Kinda disappointed when you didn’t have a lot of videos posted. Watching this film brought me back to a younger time when I still had dreams to explore the world. Although I DID go to college in England, I wish I had more experiences such as these. Thank You soooo much for uploading it. It was just the distraction I needed to renew my youth. I’m from Carmel California & now live on the East Coast but watching this Film brought back a lot of the joy I was missing in my life.

      Hey Chani! Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words. I'm really happy to hear that the film brought you back to a younger time in your life. I truly believe that travel is one of the most important things that a person can ever do in their life. For me, travel is a reminder that we are so much more CAPABLE than we may believe. It challenges and pushes us out of our comfort zone, which is where a ton of personal growth can happen.
      I appreciate your interest in my films. I currently have a movie that is playing in film festivals across the country. It is a movie about cycling across America with no food, no money, and in search of human connection. The title of the film is "We Are All In This Together". If you are interested in seeing the film, go to: Weareallinthistogethermovie.com. Thanks for your support!

    This is truly how Daniel is. Nothing in this is fake or contrived. I picked him up as a hitchhiker in Pennsylvania driving across the USA. His high spirits and positive vibe was with us all the way until I dropped him off in Montana. Great movie Daniel. Miss ya man you inspired me to push the limits like this over international borders.

    Absolutely loved this. The scenery, the hill struggles followed by the white knuckled euphoria downhill, the shoestring fixes, your 6-week experience on the farm with that lovely couple... loved all of it. And finding a good campsite while touring is such a part of the adventure, and I thought you were so ballsy with some of them!! I hope to see many more of your videos in the future!

    Great bike adventure film, thank you for sharing. Enjoyed your interactions you had with the locals. I feel that a lot of Americans live with a sense of fear of the world, but this video really highlights that there are a lot of wonderful people out there in this world who are willing to help one another (maybe except for that one Austrian farmer with the gun.. haha..).
    Also liked the fact that your video was "real" in the sense that you showed the lowlights as well as the highlights of your adventure. It wouldn't be a true adventure if everything during your trip was smooth sailing. Getting caught in rainstorms, riding through that sketchy narrow tunnel, escaping that angry farmer with a gun, and making those ad hoc repairs to your bike, those are all part of what made this trip a real adventure!
    I hope to one day be able to take my bike and ride the Eurovelo network.

    • @TheTravelinDude
      @TheTravelinDude  Рік тому

      Hey! Oh man, thank you so much for your feedback! I totally agree that a lot of Americans live with a sense of fear in the world. And yes, I believe it was important to show the lowlights and highlights because that is what a bike tour is all about. There are so many things that can happen while you're on the road, and that's what makes it a beautiful experience. It's not always a sunny day and smooth riding. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

      Stelveo pass is well known because it is the HIGHEST PAVED ROAD IN EUROPE. And for an insane stage in a giro d’italian cycling race. Basically the only time an American has ever won that grand tour.
      Here’s the story:
      It started out completely sunny. As the racers were climbing up the climb before stevio the sky opened up. 3000 feet rain, 4000 feet torrential downpour, 5,000 feet sheet, 6000 feet ice 7,000 snow. 8000 feet snow and ice. They were planning to end the race in the town but as the riders crested the summit the finish line was clear and no storm in sight. So the race continued. Then on the climb 1000 feet light drizzle
      2000 feet sprinkling. 3000 feet rain. 4000 feet downpour 5,000 sheet 6000 ice 7000 snow, 8000 thick snowfall finish line at 9560 feet total whiteout blizzard the storm came out of nowhere and a American came across first 3 minutes ahead of the second place rider.

    Broken rack. I know the feeling, had my rear rack fail while cycling thro Sweden in 2018, had to cycle 30 miles to get to a bike shop for a new rack. I have since replaced my aluminum racks with steel ones made by Tubus, top quality and bombproof. The trouble with aluminum racks is that they are just not up to the job when it comes to a real expedition tour. I also ride a Surly LHT, its a real round the World machine.

Before I left on my trip, I spent an hour or so each night learning basic vocabulary words that I thought would be useful during my trip.
      But most importantly, living on the farm really helped my knowledge of the German language because it was all I heard for 6 weeks. It is amazing what can happen if you immerse yourself in a different culture for a while. It really helps your knowledge of the language!

      Hey Nagara! I am riding across Europe again this week! I am going to explore some different countries like Slovenia and Croatia. I will be making a film about this journey as well! Thanks for watching my film, and I am excited to share the next one again on my channel!
