When animals are young they’re just as impressionable as human children are, they learn to accept certain things as normal and take that with them into adulthood. They’re in a stage when they’re learning about the world just like we do.
With the limited knowledge I have on young animals I still feel like they are not just as impressionable as young humans. They are born with natural instincts that have been developed over a vast amount of time that young humans haven’t had to develop thanks to the way we are raised. Maybe impressionable to an extent would be more accurate?? I don’t know. I may be wrong. Not trying to just disagree with you, merely discussion
JT Rudd Humans have tons of natural instincts that you probably just don’t think about because they are so natural to us. Humans also have lots of learned behaviors but animals do as well. Many animals have to be taught by there parents how to do things, what to eat, what not to eat, where to find things, etc. Animals are products of their environment just as much as we are. We really aren’t so different.
Austin Barrett name another animal that gets as babies as humans do. Young children could never survive in the wild with just instincts compared to almost any animals instincts
Fatit So a newborn fawn can survive without its mother? A nest of baby birds without their parents? Animals mature much more rapidly, yes...but many species rely on their parents many months for survival. The only species I can think of off the top of my head would be most invertebrates, some reptiles, and some fish, which even those rely on their parents for protection for awhile. To be fair, most grown adult humans couldn’t survive out in the wild left to their own devices let alone a child. But that’s mostly due to the fact the we as humans aren’t taught how to do these things. I think you’d be surprised what a young child could be capable of if taught how to survive in the wild, of course not an infant but an older child of at least maybe say 6 or 7. Maturity is something that is forced upon animals because they’re hardwired for survival but you’d be kidding yourself thinking humans aren’t as well, a human put in a hard situation will try their hardest to survive. Just think about it, in some places there are grown adults that don’t know how to hunt or fish or even cook, but in some places there are children that go out by themselves hunting fishing and cooking. I digress, you’re correct to an extent. Most young children wouldn’t last at best a few days out in the wild and a young wild animal would comparatively stand a much better chance. All I’m trying to say is that animals go through a process of growing up not so dissimilar from our own. And forgive me if I seem to argue, that’s not the purpose of any of this, just serving the purpose of discussion.
Fatit Also I have to say I don’t know what you mean to say by saying “name another animal that gets as babies as humans do” I think the wording is confusing
Umm... She's ok, sure. Why does is matter it's a "lady". So yay average to pretty good narrator? She's no David Attenborough but he's not awesome just because he's a dude. lol
Seems easy to explain. They have no stress. No need to hunt, no need to fight for territory, they have comfort and never go hungry. From an animal point of view it’s a life of unlimited bliss. If I had that kind of life, I’d get along with everybody, too.
This isn't her regular job. I'm pretty sure she's either an archeologist or she might actually be a biologist, but she has a show on PBS with a guy and investigates old lost civilizations. I just saw an episode she did about Pompeii and it was really good!
It's 5 am and I've never been more captivated by the stories of animals like this before, especially Kate and pipin! I love learning about animal behaviors like this, when survival isn't the top priority, in captivity or not, animals can create extraordinary bonds, just like us. It's incredibly interesting!
I wish it was like that but it’s not :( the mom took care of the ducklings because of a horamone in her body that makes her want to take care of her babies and the ducklings were there with her babies so the cat thought of the ducklings of her babies too.
And he did, he ate one of them after the man didn't feed the bear one night It is so sad because the man was feeding the polar bear illegaly. He's being charged with a myriad of charges.
Not really sure because behaviours can be changed.... I think it depends on hormonal theory I have 3 and a half cats one dog along with 5 rabbits and 7 cocktail birds my dog always plays with rabbits And my cats also play with those cocktails, but at that time they never invite their brother (my dog).... NO ONE CAN BELEAVE MY HOME IS A LITTLE HEAVEN 🤗🐱😺😸🐈🐇🐇🕊🕊🕊🕊🐕🐭👨👩👧👦🎅💕💝👍🤗🤗🏡🤗🤗
@@parnachakrabartybhaskar4543 At one point in time I had 3 cats, 2 cockatiels, & a Pitt Lab mix. Everybody got along. I'd lay on the couch w/ the dog as a foot rest or he'd be on the floor, cats on back or arm or next to me, birds would be on me. They also perched on dog & cats playing with their fur. The birds came about because my aunt asked me to bird sit for 6 weeks. She'd rescued him & he wasn't used to physical contact, wings weren't clipped, he bit, etc. 1st morning he was freaking out, would not stop screaming. The dog was happy outside, cats went to other rooms & I opened up the cage. After a few hours he started to mellow out. In 3 wks he'd step up, whistle & kiss, play in a small tub of water, perch on my shoulder. Normal happy birdie stuff. My aunt was in tears over how great he was doing. I got a little female 2 weeks later, lol.
Humanity stopped seeing itself as a species like every other in nature and started to see itself as a superior being because of its superior intelligence and ability to craft and use complex tools. Now the humans think nature should bow to them and are rapidly destroying the wildlife on this planet for its own temporary comfort.
Seeing a tiger n bear n lion shown friendship, incredible( we humans need to learn from these animals) learn from them how to treat other humans like them!!
Other humans are more animalistic and cruel then these animals most of them need to die the human species is broken especially the colored ones sry I'm not sry
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how they nailed this video format. Most video's like this are super corney and target a younger audience. But this was actually interesting and fun to watch. Love this content!
I recently watched an animal documentary narrated by Helena Bonham Carter called "Eden Untamed Planet" and it was terrible. Amazing footage with her talking in babytalk, using childish words and cooing. "This widdle guy found some squishy, yummy berries for his little belly!" It was ridiculous.
Real Wild moves me with such magnificent documentaries-but when my man who usually only watches shoot-em up movies stood in awe & made sweet comments while watching this entire video with me, I knew I had to give my first Super Thanks. I truly thank you ALL for your dedication to such brilliant work.
5:55 That lady just casually reaches into the cage with a lion, bear, and tiger to pet the tiger like a house cat. Is there enough room in the sanctuary for her enormous balls?
8:43 My gosh, the baby chimp's eyes are so bright, pure and beautiful. His young friend, the little puma really trusts his mate, the chimp. Such a beauty for my sore eyes in the brutal world like these days.
Hypothesis: due to the bounty of food and resources, the normally competitive predators no longer need to compete. Further, learned behavior from parents aren't instilled.
To expand on that, what can we learn from this? In a post-scarcity human world, features that separate us may turn into curiosity if not affection. I've seen this in humans around me and personally I am fond of it. Besides this video being beautiful, it proves imho, that biologism-based counter-arguments to cross-barrier relationships do not prove anything.
Yeah theres thia theory of the pyramid of like idk needs and at the top ia am i breathing then food and stuff and whatever and at the bottom is love so when they have everything else i guess they then can feel love or whatever
I don’t quite think that’s true even tho it would be great! Altho I had a similar thought in the beginning. If only the circumstance that “hunting is not necessary” would suffice, you would have the same behavior in basically every pet. Cats wouldn’t hunt mice if it wasn’t in their DNA. Altho its not only behavior learned from parents (rather: socialization). I think oftentimes, growing up with each other and getting to know each other’s body language while still being in an age of play instead of survival does the deal, especially when there is not much active protective parenting and “keeping the same race together” is going on. Enough space is important too so they don’t rub each other the wrong way in some situations. But that’s just my theory and in that regard, they are also not much different to us :3 animals are emotional and compassionate altho they can live without much emotional stimulus later in life (like us), they definitely crave some attention and care as children (even in eggs, as embryos, its possible. Ofc that doesn’t apply to all animal species). Also most if not all mammals and birds know to groom and care for each other, they know and differentiate feelings of comfort and safety contrasted to insecurity and danger - all of which they learn to handle, like us, in our early years (or whenever they 1st time experience a situation altho we are better at adapting and learning much later in life): by trial and error, habitualizing and conditioning. So yeah. Under the right circumstances, many animals could potentially befriend each other... like us :D lol
I never knew that about Rhinos and honestly I feel even more sad then before that they're endangered. Also, the part about the lioness was so sad, that poor mama 💔
It can happen to humans too... And it's just as deadly if untreated. It's called Addison's Disease, and is super rare. Unfortunately I happen to be one of the unlucky ones. I was actually quite surprised to learn I share my condition with rhinos! (and yes, my cat definitely help me to destress, or even just comfort me on days when I am especially afflicted ❤️)
The tiger and the bear are my favorite. Both of them know they could easily kill each other, but they play fight and it’s incredible to see. They’re predatory animals with strong instincts. The fact they both tolerate each other and don’t go for the kill blow when playing is just amazing to see.
Leo is actually a male but couldn't grow completely cuz of some reason and is a kind of introvert type. He passed away when they were around 15 years old. Sher khan too followed him soon. Now baloo is the only one that remains. They actually built tombs for those two and kept statues of them. Baloo visits them daily and licks those statues like he used to do them when they were still with him.
That's the sad part of life everything has to die to make room for more life, it's sad but that's the nature of life I guess, it's not how long we live but what we do in our lives that makes the difference. God does work in mysterious ways!❤
Tyler Wolff Wich one? The lion, tiger and bear? Leo wasn't a lioness. When males are fixed they look very, very similar to a lioness. Unfortunately leo has passed away not to long ago.
Same here... She just wanted to give her love and care, even if this meant for her to starve (cz she denied to feed on young preys)... I cried so much watching that one.. 😢
This is one hell of a documentary. Finding these special "unheard of" relations between cross species and covering them specially across the globe & presenting in such beautiful way is brilliant. Filled my heart with love. Kudos to the entire team for shooting this...
The story of the deer coming back and for between the family and the wild is amazing. It's more amazing when the deer comes back to the house to give birth each time.
I'm wishing right now, that humans could show each other the same compassion & care that these animals exhibit for their interspecies friends/family. A beautiful documentary, sensitively handled by Liz Bonin, one of my favourite wildlife presenters. No-one can top David Attenborough but she's a close second!
And I’m wishing evil humans would stop riding elephants which damages their spine and I’m DISGUSTED that this idiotic channel showcased this cruel practice in their video
Now just imagine that a child could safely interact with a wolf and an ox, and the wolf grazes as the ox, no pain, no danger, no sadness, just love, shared to the highest level, between all species, that’s what heaven has in store, and I think these animals are rediscovering a piece of that deep love that was lost due to sin, ❤❤
Imagine at a young age going through something so traumatic with two other people the same age as you... idk I’d be close with them too. Only they know about the nightmares that keep you awake, the long nights without food, the shitty ass living conditions!! That’s how you form bonds that will NEVER BE BROKEN. You don’t need science for that.
This was excellent!! Liz Bonnin is a great presenter. The photography was excellent. The animals were all adorable. I really enjoyed this video and will watch it again.
This is so well done! As a biologist I appreciate how they don’t just focus on showing the novelty of the cross-species friendships as a cute novelty but rather they really explore the biological basis of these behaviors by bringing in expert commentary. I wish that everyone who watches dodo clickbait videos on animal friendships would also watch this piece.
Agreed. I found the topic of "pet keeping" to be fascinating. It seems that having a full stomach is essential to this behavior, and it occurred to me that humans aren't immune from the same constraints. If humans are hungry enough, they will eat their domestic animals.
How are Dodo videos clickbait? The video title actually delivers and as the videos are short it can nurture a love of nature to the viewer and maybe even inspire them to seek out longer videos on the subject like this one
Imagine being in the wrong place at the wrong time and you have to defend yourself against a bear.... and then his tiger and lion friends come to help him...
videos like this and nature’s medicine are the key to a great night after a long day at work. great journalism, great editing and audio production, so soothing and well done. y’all rock!
It's life Ms Lindsay. They are not going to be lonely but they will be separated from each other at some point. Waiting to get rebirth as humans and then eventually they will be able to understand their feelings among themselves. The rules of soul will always be aiming for clarity and content with itself. So will we be undergoing the same process of life. Thank you.
My German shepherd used to share her kennel with a fox and once even with a baby duckling. But Laica was a very special sweet dog. I still miss her today 55 years later 😢😢😢
I had a 23 pound female coon cat. She nurtured any animal that was smaller than she was. My friend's toy poodles puppy weighed under 3 pounds and wasn't interested in her nurturing him.
This made me laugh and cry at the same time . We have a small children's farm where we live. When I was a child there was a donkey and a goose. They were inseparable, Always together, even when sleeping. They were a well known couple for 22 years. One day the goose died, The donkey did not come out of his stable for days, mourning and depressed. It was in the local news paper back then. I never forget it
I tried to start a small children's farm one time, but child services and the police made it pretty clear I couldn't. Now, all I have is 6 cages in my cellar.
What they don’t tell you about the video of polar bears playing with huskies is that those same polar bears came back and ate those same huskies not even a couple days later.
@@TinkgrrrbabeI've read that Doc is supposed to be a bit of a d**k! And apparently doesn't treat his animals very well! Not sure what's going on there now, but apparently he pushes for pups of some of his animals to let the public pet them. This may have been an untruthful article, but it reminded me when I saw him riding his elephant! (Di*k)
@@Taylor-xh8uh - Oh no! I looked it up (when Leo died) how old tigers, lions and bears would become, and bears live about 15 years longer. So eventually the bear was going to be alone, i already felt sad for the bear, knowing what's coming. Thanks for letting us know!
Ok so story time Growing up there was this deer that got caught in my granny’s fence (too big a collar) we got her loose and she never left so we fed her she was free to go wherever she wanted. And my uncle had a Boston terrier who came to my granny’s all the time and they played and played and played all the time. After she grew up she came and went all the time with bucks and foals she was one of the greatest “pets” we’ve ever had.
Kri MD around here it’s pretty common for folks to have deer as pets so when they let them go in the woods they have to have a neon orange color so hunters don’t shoot at them. We took it off and kept it around but she never really left the property so we didn’t worry about.
That would be the natural state granted they’re more of like a buddy that hangs around we didn’t like keep her is a pen which is in fact illegal but she was able to go wherever she wanted
@@AshrafAnam Right, they were basically family having only known each other from birth. But I think it does help 3 apex predators from different areas to be family/friends, since they didn't have to compete for food in home territory.
Makes sense to me! When humans are in desperate situations, they do primal things that are considered uncivilized. Animals in the wild have to survive. In captivity, of course behaviors will change.
My future wife and I raised a wolf from a puppy at our home in Aspen, Colorado. When our wolf Esme was about 4 months old a flight of ducks, among many flying south, lit on our lawn. The next morning all the ducks were gone, except 8 ducklings huddled together near our porch. While we muddled over what to do, we noticed that Esme was carrying them, one by one, her mouth gentle around their necks and heads, through our open front door into our bedroom. From then on the ducklings followed Esme around, single file behind her and slept with her. Soon we noticed that Esme distinctly and unmistakably quaked as she communicated with her brood. In the spring the 8 grown ducks flew off together to join a flight of thousands flying north. Esme was for a while inconsolable.
What a lovely accolade to "nean, viscious" wolves. I was so glad when wolves were introduced back into Yellowstone because they are part of the ecology. Farmers got all up in arms and said wolves are killing their cattle and I don't think that's always true. My dad, who died 30 years ago, grew up in Idaho and played with wolves as a child. He became a veterinarian specializing in poultry, but wolves were one of his favorite animals. I grew up with a St. Bernard and a racoon that were friends for years. When they started hanging out, both eating out of the same bowl.at the same time, Dad gave the raccoon rabies vaccinations. We wanted him to neuter the raccoon but he never would. The raccoon would disappear maybe for a month at a time and come back again. We can handle the raccoon but we never tried to tame it. (much). It sometimes nipped my brothers but I bit it back a couple of times and it did not bite me. Dad asked what I did and I told him the truth, I put it's paw in my mouth and bit it, having no idea it could have torn me apart. I knew the tale about raccoons washing their food was a myth before it was proved a myth.
Do you have some sort of Predators on your fish tanks?....meh make sense...my octopus just slaughtered the whole ecosystem on the tank....still waiting if I can finally go out safe without this Danger of freedom riot shenanigans
I had an older guinea pig when I was younger. We ended up getting two brother kittens to help with pest control. Through no intervention of my own I started finding the kittens curled up with the guinea pig and they were all sleeping. They continuously did this until he passed away. It was amazing that they knew he wasn’t food. Every other rodent was but not him and I did nothing to train then that way. It was like they just understood he was family!
Wow! These are very unusual stories of friendship between animals of different species. I've never seen or heard anything like this. What a wonderful world!
Why is everyone so obsessed with the lion, tiger and bear and not talking about the kudu and giraffe?!? That is the weirdest relationship I've seen in this whole video..
Watching their effortless bond, I felt a pang of longing. Their friendship embodies a connection I deeply crave but haven't yet found. It's both beautiful and bittersweet to witness.
@Lucy Towey You are joking right? Did you know chimpanzees will hunt down and torture monkeys. Did you know bears fight to near death over territory dispute. You don't know shit about nature other than the cute pg 13 documentaries you've watched. Its really fucking annoying when people like you say this shit, you are probably some city dweller who has no real conception of the harsh reality of nature. People like you piss me off so much, only a spoiled brat would ever say something like this. Killer whales torture their prey for fun. All sorts of bugs will eat you alive while you suffer horrible pain. They don't give a shit. Birds will abandon children to dehydrate to death or get picked at by the other birds.
I thought every animal friendship was absolute sweetness until I saw the mother cat and ducklings. Seriously, have you ever seen such a beautiful display of motherly instinct when mama kitty picked up the duckling and put back in the bed? Then she kept pulling the duckling back to her! Its just beautiful, pure, motherly love.
Michelle Griffin that case was beyond adorable...N later when the ducks were all grown up they were actually walking like cats! Not waddling like ducks do

Seems easy to explain. They have no stress. No need to hunt, no need to fight for territory, they have comfort and never go hungry. From an animal point of view it’s a life of unlimited bliss. If I had that kind of life, I’d get along with everybody, too.
Even so, certain instincts still come into play. Cats hunting mice for sport rather than food for instance.
That should be the next study...
Untrue if he don’t allow them to feel some sort of stress they’ll go mad

It's 5 am and I've never been more captivated by the stories of animals like this before, especially Kate and pipin! I love learning about animal behaviors like this, when survival isn't the top priority, in captivity or not, animals can create extraordinary bonds, just like us. It's incredibly interesting!
I love how the cat's reaction to the ducklings maturing faster than her kittens is: "Nooo! You're still my babies! Let me be your mom!!"
Entitled parent
Ha ha!
I wish it was like that but it’s not :( the mom took care of the ducklings because of a horamone in her body that makes her want to take care of her babies and the ducklings were there with her babies so the cat thought of the ducklings of her babies too.
I can relate. Empty nest syndrome.
It's kind of like real life for some parents
That one polar bear was like "I'm keeping this dog, this dog is mine."
And he did, he ate one of them after the man didn't feed the bear one night It is so sad because the man was feeding the polar bear illegaly. He's being charged with a myriad of charges.
That dog looked legit scared. Like "Dad? Help?"
Not really sure because behaviours can be changed.... I think it depends on hormonal theory

Humans: make friends with other species.
Also Humans: We don't understant why animals of different species make friends with each other.
Asanda Ndimande lol
Literally what I said to myself. Like we're not that special lol
Understatement
Humanity stopped seeing itself as a species like every other in nature and started to see itself as a superior being because of its superior intelligence and ability to craft and use complex tools. Now the humans think nature should bow to them and are rapidly destroying the wildlife on this planet for its own temporary comfort.

I agree! I don’t think it’s forced, or staged whatso ever.

Proved wrong in cases such as with the lioness , the polar bears, etc
If the struggle of life as your said, is removed, and food, resources, are plentiful. No need for aggression. Nothing to fight over.
I never knew that about Rhinos and honestly I feel even more sad then before that they're endangered. Also, the part about the lioness was so sad, that poor mama 💔
Cheetahs also often need emotional support dogs, they're very skittish and get stressed in captivity
Orphaned elephants almost never survive; they will stop eating.
The tiger and the bear are my favorite. Both of them know they could easily kill each other, but they play fight and it’s incredible to see. They’re predatory animals with strong instincts. The fact they both tolerate each other and don’t go for the kill blow when playing is just amazing to see.
It's beautiful, even beyond beautiful.

Big agree. The natural world is so much more interesting when we don't anthropomorphize away unique responses.

Ok so story time
Growing up there was this deer that got caught in my granny’s fence (too big a collar) we got her loose and she never left so we fed her she was free to go wherever she wanted. And my uncle had a Boston terrier who came to my granny’s all the time and they played and played and played all the time. After she grew up she came and went all the time with bucks and foals she was one of the greatest “pets” we’ve ever had.
Nancy why did a deer have a collar on ?
Kri MD around here it’s pretty common for folks to have deer as pets so when they let them go in the woods they have to have a neon orange color so hunters don’t shoot at them. We took it off and kept it around but she never really left the property so we didn’t worry about.
Where do you live? Sounds amazing to have deer as pets

Wow

Honestly

Why is everyone so obsessed with the lion, tiger and bear and not talking about the kudu and giraffe?!? That is the weirdest relationship I've seen in this whole video..
Agreed man, thats like a mouse and elephant becoming lovers like wat in the actual fck?
Weird and adorable XD I guess he likes big girls?
When she is out of your league but you still don't give a fuck
Because those three would be such a deadly combo until the wild
@@thewisecicero167 That is impossible to occur in nature. Unlike the Kudu and giraffe..
Watching their effortless bond, I felt a pang of longing. Their friendship embodies a connection I deeply crave but haven't yet found. It's both beautiful and bittersweet to witness.
I cried it makes me feel like wow man people hurt all these beautiful animals when they are just like us
True:(
They are not like us, Don't let emotion get the best of you
@@godseye8785 i mean that's fair but it sounds a bit sociopathic lol
Dylan N no need to be so gruesome. Self-respect perhaps?
The bear and the tiger is like straight out of a children’s book
Lions, tigers, & bears oh my
Jungle book
@@mambamentality2663 its the bear necessities
@@mambamentality2663 did you see the djungel book? i remember the relationship between balu and shirkan kind of differently...
@@maxmustermann369 yep I did, it's based on a children's book that then was made as a movie
3:36 - 4:22 Can't believe Baloo and Shere Khan are best friends in real life
I was thinking came
Sadly, both the lion and the tiger have now died and Balloo is on his own.
ellie they both agreed to eat that annoying fougly
Lisa Smith 💔😭
The deer and the dog chilling out together after years of friendship. The deer always remebering Roscow.
Its a beautiful thing
I thought every animal friendship was absolute sweetness until I saw the mother cat and ducklings.
Seriously, have you ever seen such a beautiful display of motherly instinct when mama kitty picked up the duckling and put back in the bed? Then she kept pulling the duckling back to her!
Its just beautiful, pure, motherly love.
Michelle Griffin that case was beyond adorable...N later when the ducks were all grown up they were actually walking like cats! Not waddling like ducks do
That melted my heart and then my face!!! I love that cat!!! So awesome!!!!!
She was just like my mom.... always trying to get me to move back home smh 🤦♂️
@@coolusernameftw7055 Awwweeee hahaa! Your mom loved you so much!!!!!!! 🤗
As a mom who tears up everytime she talks about her son I know how your mom probably felt. Having kids is one thing but when you are the mother of a son there is a feeling of accomplishment and sadness when your son becomes a man. We really are amazed that we made a man. It's quite surreal 😊
@@humzakhalid7902 I noticed that! The way they picked up their feet with such precision like the cat. Remarkable!
When animals are fed every day by people, they don’t have much of a reason to fight.
True, what about the polar bears though?
What about friendships in the wild?
@@csx3180 why would you go hunt tiny bony dogs, when you can have fat sea pigs.
Says a lot about society
I had same thinking, that it was probably why the bear, tiger and lion could be together peacefully...
My heart smiled watching the baby chimpanzee and jaguar play. What a beautiful sight!
Hearts do not smile. The function of the heart is to pump oxygenated blood through the body.
The lion cub holding the dogs leash in its mouth was absolutely precious as well.
@@sublimesense7761 Lol
@@savvytravel2318 What? Nevermind.
Humans could learn a lot from nature if only humans would evolve towards kindness
Humans have very much evolved towards kindeness. We are one of the most altruistic mammals to exist in the animal kingdom. Additionally, you don't evolve through 'learning'
Nature is Metal, we're the exception honestly
