- It is a kind of alpine festival in Switzerland when the cows go down into the valleys after the alpine season. The so-called Alpabzug takes place every year in September and today I will show you what it looks like behind the scenes.
0:00 I woke up early to accompany the alpine festival or "Alpabzug
0:55 Saying hello to the farmers which produce the last alp cheese
01:32 Saying hello to the cows
02:17 I check out the cheese store
06:06 I hear some roaring deer
07:06 How they produce alp cheese
08:44 Where I am
09:30 Cow wash
11:41 How it is to work on an alp (and...I accidentally left my singing attempts in here:))
12:07 The result of my singing attempts :))
12:34 Let's talk about the weight of the bells
13:57 Which cow gets which bell
16:04 The dogs drive here in Bernese Oberland ;-)
16:30 The cows get their flowers
17:17 The neighbouring farmers go first
17:58 Now, it is time to say good bye (without sining attempts :))))
big Thanks to the alp Gschwantenmad

Chapeaux to these people who are keeping such fantastic traditions! And to you, Sylvia, to show us this Festival once again. Absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you Elka :)
The Rouseniaui Valley looks like a very peaceful place. I love cheese. I have probably eaten cheese made in Switzerland. We must thank the Swiss farmers for their hard work and the good cheese. The cow parade is hearwarming. Cow wash waiting for the cow wash yeah🎶😊🍀
Waanzinnige opname Sylvia. Op mijn tablet gekeken. Ga het later op de TV kijken. Zo herkenbaar dat gebied. Zo veel daar bij Stechelberg gewandeld. Dus ken dit gebied zo goed. Dank je wel voor dit herinneringsgebied. ♥️🇨🇭♥️🇨🇭♥️🇨🇭♥️🇨🇭

Never imagined the cows being pressure washed - in this day and age.
Nice interesting video 😊 !
Thank you so much, Sylvia! It was wonderful to see the preparation behind an Alpabzug. Pressure washing cows! Who knew? 😊 The one herd with the flowers and the Swiss flags was especially great. We went to see the descent of a dozen or so herds to Urnasch, Appenzell (Ausserrhoden) in Sept of last year. The town has a little festival then with a market and boys choirs singing traditional Apoenzeller music. It was very enjoyable. What is the translation of Gschwantenmad?
Oh I don't know - must be something in deepest Bernese Oberland language :)
