What would you do?
With all due respect to Joe, we need a real experiences head coach. An outsider. Leadership. Someone not afraid to ruffle Neely's feathers. Stop some of this decision making "by committee."
Then rebuild/retool from there.
We're going to really fall apart when goalie Bob is done. He must be getting up there so we need to move some sort of a rebuild along. Now.
not going to pick apart these players because there is no leadership nor coach maximizing their skills.
But there is one player I'd like gone that would loosen up $8.25aav mil in cap space. I don't understand why Bruins would pay that much to retain control over the first two years of his contract if he wasn't potentially on the trade block?
But ..We're not going to beat that dead horse.
😁
There are other players with limited team no trade clauses like Coyle has an 8 team ntc
Goalies are in demand.
You don't think korpisalo could be on the block?
10 team ntc?
Thanks Court
We should have been having this conversation two years ago!
@ I have heard they floated Korpisalo’s name and got zero interest. I think if they team doesn't make the playoffs major changes are coming. I personally don't think coaching is an issue but its the talent pool and how the team has been constructed.
When Bruce was named interim coach he wasnt named head coach until the end of the season.
I think if you don't make the playoffs you mive out some UFA’s to get picks and retool
@ also agree it should have been done after Bergeron retired
@bruinsdiehards I say when Chara left because Bergeron was "will he or won't he retire?" for how many seasons?
Krejci?
Chara leaving was a very significant break from the Bruins loyalty contracts.
They were drawing a line in the Sand and setting boundaries around the future of the franchise. I was sad to see him go, but at least we knew why... And was looking forward to the beginning of the rebuild
Or we thought we knew what trading Chara meant 🤔
Our IRREPLACEABLE 1C and 2C were each playing with a skate out the locker room door.
You know I love Charlie coyle, yet always knew he wasn't going to replace those 2.
We tried bringing Rask back? 🙄 Why?!
What the heck was that about?
Chara's departure is when I saw instability creeping in - not a lot in the pipeline at that time
we lucked out for the past two seasons, Ullmark was the lynchpin.
I enjoyed the show for a while but then saw the Bruins franchise was more concerned about the product being sold during the two centennial seasons, than the future of this franchise.
I don't know who did that. I don't see that as a GM decision.
Yes, clearly by the time Bergeron said he was done, something should have happened. And I look at this through The eyes of finances and asset management
By the time Patrice left, there wasn't anything to do!
Our trade cupboard was empty
and in debt by then!
I think it was too late by the time Bergeron finally hung up his skates.
We went all in for him.
Not disagreeing, just chatting...
@ well Chara leaving was a lot different than what he said on Instagram.
He was offered a deal and he turned it down. He didn't want to play bottom pair minutes
Realistically I wouldn't be able to do much of anything.. For reasons you've already spelled out. We've put ourselves in a jam with the Canuck acquisitions so going forward we can just hope our young guys like Poitras can excel and sit back and watch.
Yeah if and its a big if you het the picks you can for the UFAs and move on
So what it boils down to, Sweeney is responsible for handcuffing this team with the NTC & NMC and long overpaid contracts.
Let's start with Sweeney and Neeley.
That would happen if they don't make the playoffs in the offseason
I find it funny that people are talking retooling or fire people. If you look at all the teams in there division you can see how close it really is. When teams are so closely matched it is not that they are bad it is more about how they battle and adapt as the season progresses. I feel like they have been battling better at times and Swaymans game is improving steadily. I said in a post earlier in the season that it will come down to how they battle in the race to secure a playoff spot. I feel like this team has more and it is really up to the coaching staff to find the magic before the season is over.
I’m just laying out all the possibilities and also hoping it puts an end to the constant comments of people saying trade player a player b that have no move clauses
Im with you - I have said it the last 2 month / this team is build to handle teams like Tampa Florida Vegas but will have problem with speed skill teams. The need to speed skaters and the only playmaker defense we have back- Hampus. if I’m right that McAvoys restrictions kicks in juni 25 - I would trade him - he is over rated but allot of teams needs his skills - get a speedy winger or a early first round pick - and if possible move Zadorov - he is the weakest big guy in the league and have many bad habits when he is playing.. - and this is not even a retool I’m talking about.
Appreciate the summation.
Ignoring contract move restrictions, I believe the McAvoy contract will hamper this team for years. Nearly every game, I see opposing Dmen that look better than McAvoy, mostly at lower AAVs. McAvoy was a Top 40 scoring Dman before his injury, I just don't see that improving much in the future. Turnovers & penalties galore. He has flashes of brilliance, but mostly he's mediocre with a gigantic contract.
Well hopefully he gets better because he isn't going anywhere right now
@Yette could not have said it better. He was a high pick out of ,but. Showed his game then big contract came. Down hill
Marchand Pastrnak and Swayman are the only ones close to untouchable. Everyone else is on the block.
@@jkbruins43 minus the guys you can't trade or send to the minors
I think Lohrei and potsy should stay because they haven't reached full potential yet. I like brazeau but she's been far too quiet the past few games. Aside from that, I agree.
There's also the factor of should we trade these guys are can. Just because we can doesn't mean we should. We need Poitras' offense, we need Freddy's grit, we need Lohrei's defense. It'd just make things harder if we got rid of these guys for someone who probably won't truly contribute to a Cup run.
I said that in the video. I’m guessing you’re commenting before watching which is fine
@@bruinsdiehardsmust have completely missed it! So sorry! Was listening while doing some other work
@ all good. Hope you got your work done
It depends on what # goes towards "freddy's grit". No way in hell do I give him a raise. He hasn't earned it, and to me, Kastelic plays the same style and actually shows up every night (until the recent injury).
Not that stats alone can be a predictor of where your team is gonna finish but there is one I keep my eyes on over the years and it does not look good for us. Goal differential is a huge tell. Typically teams that finish (+) in this stat make the playoffs and teams that are a (-) do not. There can be anomalies but this is a pretty solid straightforward stat to keep your eye on. If you look right now at the standings this is the case. We are a big (-) team. There are several teams below us currently in points but real close, with better goal differentials and games in hand. Unless we go on some huge tear, we are golfing when the playoffs begin. Better believe management have their eyes on this as well and I can see them moving people. From now until the trade deadline we have to make it clear we are in the market and willing to listen to any deal that can better our team. A complete rebuild is not the way to go as we do not want to end up like some teams and be out of the playoffs for a decade plus.
@@eatonbeaver6972 yeah statistically things don't look good for the Bruins, especially in goal differential
Tool being the word of the day! My bigger concern is what does it take to get guys to play for one another and the fanbase with some sort of regularity!?
I just dont feel this is good enough. I think they’re at the retool now stage or stay just good enough to make the playoffs and get knocked out in the tirst round stage
@@bruinsdiehards I'm not saying don't replace players what I mean is is this I should have gone into more detail in my comments it's just youtube so I never really go into depth I don't think that the team itself play for one another with the current group of people that they have so I've never once step foot in a professional hockey locker room to see what is conveyed or what is used to get guys to play with one another I've played on very competitive teams and I know that a lot of times we were competitive as hell. It's just when you're a professional athlete and you're doing this for a living I wonder what the magic is
@@jonathanschadenfreude9603 could be this but hard to know as you said.
@ I wish I knew the magic but I can see your point
Might be time for me to put the voice microphone down. Probably just typing would be a better option now that I look back and proofread some of my comments that I didn't look at in the past
I think we need to just let the young guys develop and go for it because they are the future I get trying to make playoffs now but this is what happens if you don’t have a focus on the future and now. There needs to be a balance. Don’t trade everyone you can. Keep people like Mark Kastelic.
Yeah no rebuild. Only a retool
The key is not making a move for the sake of making a move, panic moves don't go well. I'm sure sweeney is making calls, but if the return doesn't make sense then no deal. It's typical with GM's at this point in the season to have a high ask, that generally comes back to reality the closer to the deadline it gets. My guess is what the Bruins are willing to move, the other GM's are probably looking to see if they can get better from someone else at the moment. My gut tells me that we won't see any trade until after the 4 Nations.
Every time I've looked at trades in my comments, it's always been about what I'd see as a trade for the return from the other team. I'm not identifying any particular player I want gone, but rather what I'd give up to get a certain player (like Kreider or Miller, who I would love to see both in the Black and Gold). This team needs something to shake things up. The only consistent this season has been inconsistent play. Defense has been awful, but when Hampus and McAvoy get back that should improve. The focus has to be to improve the team going forward.
Yeah this is the first season in a while I almost rather the Bruins to not make the playoffs.
If they did I would guess a first round exit like Washington last season
Zadorov cant be waived with the no move clause?! Yikes
That's really interesting because I had thought someone used it to subvert a no trade clause. I'm curious how this is different.
You can subvert a no-trade but not a move
According to Puckpedia, his no move clause is only good this year. Next year he has a full no trade, the year after that a 16 team no trade, and then the next year an 8 team no trade, so I think he can technically be waived as of next year, but I don't see the Bs doing that.
@ yes on a no trade he can be waived
You are correct. No move is no waive .
Retool now.
They struggled playing San Jose.
What does that tell you?
Tells me they’re not a good team
@ They are in the right place in the standings, with the talent they have.
I would tank for a high draft pick at this point.
Hopefully, they decide to sell some pieces. At this point they have just as much of an opportunity to end up with a top 10 pick as they do to make the playoffs. If they can some how add a 1st and 2nd or a 3rd, they need to do it.
100% agree
I think realistically they move on at the trade deadline from Frederic and Wotherspoon as we will more than likely lose both in Free Agency for nothing in return so makes sense to deal them at the deadline to aquire pics for the next draft - Freddie will likely get 4/aav on the open market and we have lower cost options
Retool - Rebuild depends which tools you ar already using. possibly some may already know thier fate after Neely exposed the contract negotiations with Swayman. they are potentially going through the motions to get through the season, and then the yard sale can happen. first up? Neely - replacements deals sweeney, then they rebuild. the retool has been done before as you said it did not work well then, and probably wont work this time.
Tools arent being used in the correct way as I am making adjustments to my tv stand using a butter knife. good luck Bruins
Well they went to the cup final not after the last retool. I wonder if the Jacobs would let Neely fire Sweeney. I would think Neely and Sweeney are a package deal. I could be wrong
Too many tools…in the front office…
@@bruinsdiehards i agree they are a package deal and maybe they shop at a different package store the next time. they have had some success in the past but I think that has gotten stale.
@ agreed
I give Lindholm and zadorov some time . They are new and need chemistry. If you play hockey you know it takes time .
However if someone wanted Lindholm, I trade him. But I would trade Marchand and if he wants to return resign him in offseason. I also would trade Geekie (sell high while hot), trade Carlo, Fredric, and I would trade kempe. Get as much picks and prospects as you can and retool. But I would trade Marchand he would get the most for us
I do in fact play hockey and I agree. Both Lindholm and Zadorov have been on three teams in a year and there is an adjustment period. Neither can be traded unless they request it.
I have been told they have an agreement for Marchand to return already and he isn't being traded.
Thoughts on the coaching situation? If they make the playoffs does Sacco stay, and does he go if they don’t? And either way, can I officially start the “Marco Sturm for next bruins head coach” campaign here?
@@mikegeiler2347 I’m undecided on this. If history trpests itself though they make thr playoffs he stays
Great video! I don’t think the Devils will be trading for Brazeau after last nights game tho 😂😂
Fair lol
on another note...just saw they put Kastelic on IR, and recalled Patrick Brown and Max Jones. Why Max Jones??? just why. Makes absolutely no sense
Well you dont call up Lysell and Merkulov to play bottom six
@@bruinsdiehards True; but the Max Jones experiment has already failed in a blaze of glory; literally anyone down in Prov would be better
retool is 2 years. Rebuild is five years of suck.
Having a ton of D out? That's the only reason why Zadorov got time. My guess is, Marchand was a message to the ENTIRE team... not really 63. Our issues: We shoot so few times. We are AWEFUL and Predictable on PP. We can't do back to back wins. I do NOT get giving Zadorov a No Move. Coyle, I'd rather keep. Zacha's an interesting one. Frederick is too. I would NOT give up picks. Not give up Poitras, Merkulov, and MIGHT consider Lohrei or Lysell, Keopke, and a few others: Kastelic, Osterle for sure, but really would prefer Kastelic and Brazzeau.
Honestly? if the Jacobs get one gate from Playoffs? No Rebuild. If they miss it? Maybe a rebuild... but definitely a retool. At some point, the fans will turn, if the B's show no signs of improving.
They need picks and players to improve instead of band aids
Not playing with your top two defence men is really showing.
Mcavoy is not a top dman.. just cause Boston says so doesn’t mean he is. He is a liability not as bad a zadorov but close
But they had them at the start of the year and didnt play well then
@@bruinsdiehards I would say Lindholm was their best defence-man before he got hurt. And Mcavoy is better than anyone they have playing now. I think he was playing hurt.
@ I agree both guys are great but we dont know if McAvoy was playing hurt.
I think the biggest issue here, over all the sucky D and the ntc/nmc…
_Sweeney_
We’re in this shitshow because of him, and after Ullmark’s trade especially this team was going severely downhill…
Before retooling or rebuilding the team, rebuild the management.
They have to make a decision now well before the TDL, if they want a playoff push then they need to make some deals now not later to strengthen the team. The other option is sell at the deadline and get the best deals you can for players like: Coyle, Frederic, Carlo, Korpisalo and others. Marchand I would only move in the absolutely right deal and one he is okay with, I guess you could trade him and then just sign him again in the off-season. Would definitely deal Brazeau if offered a 2nd rd pick +.
@@bearforce187 I agree and my thoughts are coming soon in new video
I just saw a report they are recalling max jones and Patrick brown like wtf are we doing man
Yup. But we dont want the kids in the bottom six
One person we can move is Sweeney. FIRE HIM!!!!!!!!
With all the talk of players being traded let's all remember
who got us here....
Sweeney.
Go Bruins. (with or without the playoffs)
In 2012, the Canucks had Cody Hodgson- before the deadline, they played him on every power play, was on ice with every offensive zone Faceoff, was paired with the other best players all the time .. this inflated his stats like crazy…. Then they traded him to Buffalo at deadline… Bruins need to do this with these bad contracts … start inflating the numbers if at all possible..ask for a list of teams from each player that needs to go.. Bruins can live with no return for at least 2 of the players. Just get the 8 year contracts off the books.. and no buyouts.
Wow, Cody Hodgson. I forgot all about him. Great pull, for example
@@bruinsdiehards yeah sabres and even Canucks fans at the time forgot all about his defensive lapses.. and after he signed a big contract with Buffalo he pretty much disappeared. Can we find a way for everyone to forget about Zadorovs defensive lapses?
@ he would have to ask to be traded though
@ yeah.. and second part is the rest of the team would have to be offensive enough to inflate those numbers. I just hope there are no buyouts… then the contract goes until like 2040 or something ala Marc Savard.
Marchand is 36 and one of the last players from the cup run. it's time to give him up for picks and rebuild around Pasta, Swayman and McAvoy. alsoi : fire Sweeney and Neely !
from a habs fan who hates the Bs but respect them
Appreciate the input
"I'm not going to rehash that draft" man, nobody wants to rehash or remember that draft.
I have PTSD from it
Yes they do control there destiny. You think by making a lot of changes is going to really change this season. Understand this. Sweeney and his cohort. Are responsible for what you see this year. It's to late to change
@@jdemore163 obviously they’re the GM and President and made the roster
It’s tough because this must be difficult on you too I can just see this is kind of affected your attitude a little bit that the Bruins just aren’t good, you seem a little frustrated and I can’t blame you, this year has been a disaster and a difficult time. But good work
Well I also have a lot going on in life that has got me a bit stressed. I do get frustrated with lazy hockey. They give effort and lose I’m good.
Not doing the recaps has helped a lot with my stress. I was stretching myself too thin
Anything is better than their current lineup.
They have to find a way to get rid of ELindholm & Zadorov.(yes I know the have NMC's).
Sacco doesn't have a clue.
Coyle, Carlo, Zacha, Beecher. must go.
Like Dubas said about Pittsburg. Every Bruin should be on market. Including Marchand, Pasta and McAvoy.
This would be a rebuild and not a retool
@@bruinsdiehards It's time to go for it. This team is a long way from being a cup contender, they're just a pretender.
Make the playoffs. Hammer the leafs and all is worth it.
@@brandonwhite9965 I would think the Leafs could finally beat the Bruins
Maybe they Poke the Bear all season long for the playoff beast to come out. Seems out of sight. But one can hold hope.
The Zadorov signing has always confused me…. Why hand out that contract when left handed defenseman are off no shortage in the bruins system… I understand the physicality aspect but at that price point it isn’t worth it… having the likes of Lindholm and Lohrei already handling LD positions they could have easily had Witherspoon or Orsterle man the 3LD position this year and spent that $5M cap hit elsewhere (like re-signing DeBrusk).
Wish they did
@@bruinsdiehardsI just viewed it as them forming a log jam at the LD position. They created the scenario of either locking Lohrei at 3LD or paying Zadorov $5M AAV to play 3LD.
@ they lose Lohrei and they’re screwed
Freddy won’t get a first sadly
Many a team would overpay for him
To VAN: Nikita Zadorov at $2M retained ($3M AAV) and Elias Lindholm at $3M retained ($4.75M AAV)
To BOS: JT Miller
You cant trade Lindholm or Zadorov
@@bruinsdiehards You can if they agree to it.
Let's face it, this situation hasn't really worked for either of them or the Bruins... Lindholm was skating on the 3rd line last game and the only reason Zadorov is getting so much playing time is injuries...
They are already familiar with VAN from last year so, that would likely be one of the only places they would accept a trade.
@@cmac3530if Vancouver wanted them they would have resigned them last season or during UFA singing but they didn’t.
@ why would they agree to it? Trying to move guys with NMC’s is next to impossible
@ VAN could want them but, not at the $ amount the Bruins offered. (Hell, I don't think anyone else in the league would have offered what the Bruins offered)
Which is why I have the Bruins retaining salary in the transaction.
Zadorov, carlo and frederic need to go. Retool the defense
@@Twotabbymom cant trade Zadorov
Wait went people saying “we need to get bigger on defense” last year lol
The only way Marchand gets traded is if it's a "temporary" thing; where Management and Brad do a "handshake" agreement on a new deal starting in 2025/26; and then trade him at the deadline (with his permission) as a rental. The idea being trading Brad would help bring assets back to assist the rebuild/retool; but with the understanding Brad will return next year...he'd basically get traded for 3-4 months and then come back. None of that happens without Brad agreeing to it; but I can't see any other way he gets traded...unless he goes the Bourque route and just says "trade me"...which he probably would've done by now if the was going to
As for the others; I'd much prefer they keep Brazeau and trade Freddie. Braz will be cheaper (even on a new contract) and Freddie would bring back a better return. I would love to see them dump both Peeke and Wotherspoon; but you'll only get a mid-late round pick for Peeke, and Wotherspoon is basically just a filler. No one is going to give up an actual asset for him (same with Lettieri). Geekie and Beecher will both be cheap resigns, so I'd imagine they will stay. Wahlstrom (if Boston wants him) would likely only get a QA. Since he was on waivers once already, there clearly isn't a trade market for him and based on his play, can't see that changing before the deadline. It's really unfortunate how quickly those E. Lindholm/Zadorov signings have already backfired. Those were bad contracts, but you expected at least 2-3 good years before they were viewed as boat anchors.....not 2-3 games into year 1
@@walkingcatastrophy5547 yeah not to get assets back
By doing these benching or ice-time antics, Sacco is showing his weakness and signs of unravelling. As a coaching strategy I prefer not to “limelight” players except if it’s an acknowledgement of positive behaviour. Especially when it is key players. All you are doing by benching stars is yelling uncontrollably.
I maintain these are good players that should be performing (collectively). The inconsistencies by so many individuals in any given game is too much. To me, that falls on the coach (significantly) and management (secondary). Paper for paper, the RFA’s coming up are not significantly better or worse than external prospects. I suppose shaking the dice sometimes wins, but it also loses just as much imo.
Stop punishing players, drive positivity and collaboration to get them on the same emotional support level when on the ice. For example, “I need to dig more for my line, pass better, hit harder, remain calm at hi scoring chances. When they win they are doing that - there is bounce in the step. In the Ottawa fiasco, those last 3 minutes had captain chases raining down on “puck watchers”. It was like that dream where you can’t jump or run. Protect the lead with offensive tact. With a two goal lead you can take more offensive risks - especially with a strong goalie.
Now I agree but it feels like the exact same problem the team had under Montgomery so how is it still coaching?
@ Monty’s heart was home bound to St.Louis. Yes he has skill and knowledge. Hard to drive emotion when you don’t have it yourself. Note, not all on Monty. Mgmt also impacts morale and those contracts and drama put everyone thinking on that instead of building chemistry.
I enjoy the show.
There are people that care like yourself. Just remember. Everything. Goes through this
Not totally disagree but panicking and talking as if their 7 games left in the season is a little much. Yes they are in a dogfight to make the playoffs.
All I’m trying to do is show what a rebuild would look like. Absolutely no panic but wanted to let people know what it actually looks like.

Fake Z needs to move his feet
Carlo needs to not be a soft and passive baby giant
The D is big, soft, passive, and appear lazy.
I feel like Geekie and Brazeaus even maybe Koepke performance for less cap in the top 6 push out Frederic next year
Middle 6*
At this point I'd rather keep Brazeau than Poitras. Not because one of them being better or worse but because Brazeau is the missing piece of puzzle Bruins aquired. Nobody else in this team can play like Brazeau in front of the net and help with forecheck using his long reach like that.
Poitras is one of the better playmakers but I'd rather have more better finishers on the team right now.
Frederic trade is bound to happen but other than that.. Who else? Nobody in his right state of mind would take Geekie out of our only consistent line. And as you said, Wotherspoon and Koepke ain't gonna get us much in return.
I wonder what they meant by "retool", it sounds like a slight rebuild but I don't think we have the means to do that.
Retool would mean you trade your UFAs for picks and call up the kids
Re-tooling suggest two or three minor changes, that's not what this team needs. This roster stinks and is getting worse every year - within 2 years unless there are dramatic changes, the Bruins will be one of the worst teams in the NHL. Sweeny and Neeley need to go - Sweeny is terrible, the man can't draft a player to save his life.
@@Mark-wo9yt worked for Washington when they did a retool over the past two years

Trade Frederic if we can get at least a second round pick, really hope Marchy turns it around soon, start talking terms now for next year but if he doesn't give the team a deal like 3.5 million for three years with significant signing bonuses for hitting certain targets, then sorry trade him, same for Coyle. Fire everyone what a joke pee wee hockey
I don’t understand this. When they play Florida, they’re focused, sharp, and play with lethal pace, and win about 50% of the time. That same team loses embarrassingly to the Sens, and then almost gets made by SAN JOSE! Already fired the coaching change bullet. It has to be chemistry..complicated by the extended down time to key defenders. Zadorov just needs to get faster and more disciplined. I don’t know what they’re paying Elias Lindholm, but whatever it is…it’s way too much. Why would they take players from a team that still has a blood hatred of them period? Would you feel comfortable having Carter Verhaeghe or Sam Bennett come to Boston? Would any of us be shocked if they got big contracts and then mysteriously underperformed? All I can say is they better step on the gas, because they’re running out… of time…and gas.🫨
