That's why you NEVER fly an electric r/c airplane at full throttle for a long period of time. After some 15 seconds or so, ease her out so the battery can cool down and the ESC (electronic speed control) doesn't risk the chance of "overload"...And try to fly a high altitude so you can have enough space to land in case the motor doesn't start back up.
that would piss me off too. im flying, doing low level passes, im in the zone, fast passes, low inverted passes, then i see smoke, land the plane fast, try to get battery out before everything goes up in smoke and flame, then i see the flames before the battery comes out, then make a desperate attempt to put out fire, but realized its too late to save the plane, noe my only concern is my receiver. then i cry and watch it burn. not a good day. then i move on, next weekend i come out with another one. im happy again but next time keep a watch on the flight time.
Could not agree more.Had he a fire extinguisher the model could have been saved may be.I wonder what the set up was, as it takes a lot to ignite a ESC. Still you live you learn at least no one was hurt.
Its like you want to stomp on it or slam it on the ground to put out the fire but you cant and no water near by. The lord wanted to try his hand on an rc plane that day. Sad but nice flying and landing.
lost my 1400mm P47 same way ...it burned so hot it melted into the asphalt best part about this video word to the wise when a plane is hot after a day at the field let it cool down before you put it in the car with my plane what happened was I put on a two blade 15/8 and tried to get away with flying a six cell the ESC held up fine the motor made the same exact sound after it burned out I landed and then just like that it was toast total loss ....I have upgraded all my FMS birds to six cell now and changed out the 580 motors they go into a whole new flight envelope of rocket ship and performance ... My Jug and FW190 can handle 5000 MAH six cell packs no problem ....ive upgraded my 109 and am waiting for the spring I will fly it with a 3300 six cell all the best
You would know this by now but here it is anyway, If your going to fly constant full throttle you need to make sure your prop/motor/ESC/battery are matched amp wise.... This was a classic over amped ESC fire.....
All Electric Powered Bf-109 me-109,s Need Extra Cooling Brought into the Fuse Via Enlarging the Opening Behind the Spinner and air Dams inside of the Fuse need to be Taken Out.....From the looks of this video he was Running a Huge Battery and Maybe even increase his ESC to a Higher Amp one with the Stock Motor....
Sorry you lost your model mate! You did what most of us would do - that is try and save some of the electronics. Some of the comments were really out of line and uncalled for (maybe they were made in fun and not meant to be negative. ???). Nice flying and good luck on your replacement!
An ABC fire ext would have eaten that plane alive and all the electrical components and wiring as they are sulphur based. One reason to use an O2 ext. Built in Chine batteries burned in American field.
burn baby burn UT. Plane burn baby burn. Plane is so dead by now now it's a shame dad that plane is burning up because you don't have no fights in a chair or a bucket of water or anything you not prepare for this angry pirate RC planes need carry some water tank and bottles or cup of water whatever I hope that this is a teach you a lesson for that unit area of water or water bottle you're always carry right next to you and flush it out of the water to a fire
What kind of broken-ass english is this? Learn to speak before talkin' shit,..... FLAGGED: Illegal use of verbiage, 15 yard penalty from the spot of the foul, automatic 1st down. (it's football season.)
FMS RC Model? Well, nevertheless, I am so sorry to see the FIRE and complete destruction of your model. I have an old FMS Bf-109 in case you might be interested.

Love how they blow on the flames and feed the fire. Lol
that would piss me off too. im flying, doing low level passes, im in the zone, fast passes, low inverted passes, then i see smoke, land the plane fast, try to get battery out before everything goes up in smoke and flame, then i see the flames before the battery comes out, then make a desperate attempt to put out fire, but realized its too late to save the plane, noe my only concern is my receiver. then i cry and watch it burn. not a good day. then i move on, next weekend i come out with another one. im happy again but next time keep a watch on the flight time.
Very surprising to see how slow they were to react.

Too bad about the plane, but on the other hand a great video to watch.
