I can't tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your craftsmanship, knowledge and analysis to recreate these by gone day carriages. Thank you and God Bless!
I hope this episode is not the end. I think we should be able to see this buggy hooked up to a team and drive off into the sunset. Thank you for sharing Dave. Have a great day and stay safe.
A masterwork on a small scale -- all the detail, from the woodwork to the metalwork to the upholstery, and we've still got the painting to look forward to. The Borax wagons are your masterwork of a large (very large) scale. Truly amazing that one man can do so much so well, and video it in the bargain.
18:15 is the exact reason why after 35 years, I still love doing signs. Just check out that smile on Dave's face. That's the mark of the old saying "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life"
People will see these videos in the future and realize what a national treasure you are Dave. Amazing bag of skills you have there executed to perfection..
To you Mr Engels this may be day to day humdrum stuff, but to your 152k subscribers, this is absolutely brilliant and extremely interesting. Thank you for sharing you daily grind with us, we truly appreciate your kindness. 👏👏👏 👋👋👋 🇦🇺
From an anvil to a saw to a sawing machine this man has mastered every tool …superb .The lucky owner of this buggy will have a work of art to ride around in ..
Even after having been a subscriber for a number of years now, I am still in awe at the level of your skill, your patience, perseverance and incredible capabilities in all aspects of buggy making, metalworking, woodworking and sewing! I could not even attempt half of what you do. It is a privilege to watch you work. Thank you so much for the pleasure your videos bring to my wife and I. Take care.
I must say that you really are an artist.I've been watching your videos and I must say that your very knowledgeable with all the trades that you can do. I myself can do most of what you do. BUT UN like me you do it the old school way with only having the advantage of the tools we have today compared to back then. YOUR one great man of keeping it real and trying to keep the knowledge so that all those important things on just how things were done. (BUT) when I saw you hand stitch that front header bow by hand I just about went crazy. "WOW" that really took me back to when I first learned how to make convertible tops. I've been making tops for over 50 years. "WOW" way to go there mate.
Yourabilities...straight line results, laminated / padded armature mastery , and tailor grade skill and replication of minute tricks is honoring a vast reservoir that rewards , pleases and serves faithfully..! MAESTRO ...CONGRATS AS USUAL..!
There were times during this video that I was scared that it would be wore out by the time you put it together for the last time. Every step of the way was making sure each and every piece was exactly right so the end result was perfect. I wonder how the man who built the first top would feel, if he found out that the person that bought the first buggy just took the top off and threw it under a tree. Thanks Dave for the extra time you spend showing us all the details of building something that was a hundred or more years old. Thank you Diane for the editing that shows your husband at his best. Your editing ability is on top also. Stay safe my friend
Hi Mr. Engels, I humbly request a slow film walk around when you Finish a section of the buggy as well as the whole project. It will only add 30 Sec to 1 min., but give us a chance to see it your impressive craftsmanship from every angle. Cheers
Hi Dave greetings from merry England. I've just spent the last four weeks watching every single one of your videos on UA-cam and I have to say I've enjoyed every moment of it. Watching you go about your work with calmness and immense skill has given me more pleasure than I can remember for a long time. Your laid back presentation is just perfect for engaging with your viewers, it's no wonder your viewing figures are so high. Now I've watched 'em all I'm going to have to start watching them again. Best wishes Vic.
I have seen ads for those hand stichers in catalogs for 60 years and never could see how they could work, thanks for showing that process. Beautiful work all the wat through.
Lots of diverse skills on display. The most amazing part is after watching several of these, I have never seen so much as a skinned knuckle or a band-aid on the man. He doesn’t even get his hands dirty. Amazing, doing that kind of work.
your videos demonstrate your commitment to the craft of Buggy buggy building, plus your OCD on details. It makes a superb demonstration of your skill, thank you for showing us how you work.
And even have a drip rail......amazing. Beautiful work. I hope whomever ends up with this buggy they have all your videos to show people what had to happen to get it. they won't believe it. I'm watching you do it and at times sit in stunned silence as you employ a vast range of skills, tools, and common sense to create each piece at each step. People who think buggies were simple should be asked to watch these videos. Thank you.
Looks fantastic!!! You mentioned something about being obsessed doing this work. No, this comes from someone who really loves the work that they do and is determined to do it the best way they can. And yes, you do!
I’m convinced that you would not put more love, care and attention into your work if it was your own buggy………! Your customers are lucky people, especially in this slip shod world we live in.
@EngelsCoachShop - all the episodes about that buggy was very interesting and i have learned the one or other thing by this. Thank You for sharing this.
Watching excellent craftsmanship never gets old, never gets monotonous and is forever a joy to behold. Thanks again for sharing your experience and expertise with all of us who appreciate fine workmanship.
Absolutely !! I have thoroughly enjoyed your video presentation combined with your remarkable craftsmanship !! I hope this is not the end, but just the beginning of what's to come !! Thanks for sharing Dave !!
Good morning Dave, great job on the top for the two seat buggy. Excellent design and craftsmanship and we like YOUR design. It’s coming together really good. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred.🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
The camera work is superb! The workmanship is outstanding! The most remarkable thing is that one man has mastered all the things you share in these videos! You are a National Treasure. Thank-you!
Votre travail est incroyable, d'une patience et d'un savoir faire illimité, un récit simple et extrêmement détaillé dans l'image, merci de nous offrir vos mains d'artisan. Your work is incredible, with unlimited patience and know-how, a simple and extremely detailed story in the image, thank you for offering us your hands as a craftsman. Pierre de Vierzon France, MERCI.
True craftsmanship is a very rare commodity in these modern times, I surely hope all this knowledge has been passed on to an apprentice to carry on your legacy for the next eighty years. Please keep this inspiring content coming, as I for one will never tire of watching amazing things come to fruition.
Beautiful work. From someone who has arthritis - it amazes me that hands that have seen 40+ years of blacksmith work are still nimble enough to do the fine detail work.
Another great masterpiece. The only difference I can se between Mr Engels fabrication and the original makers is the use of spray adhesive. I am still amazed at the quality of workmanship and the amount of knowledge this man has.
Your skill at making these top is amazing to watch. Your hands have traveled these paths many times.... I still give your videos a like before I watch them and am never disappointed... Thanks. Russ
Vorrei venire a vivere nella tua piccola città e passare la giornata a imparare da te le cose che purtroppo andranno perse con il passare del tempo. Sei un artista a 360 gradi. Ti ammiro molto.
You are absolutely a very talented guy, Dave. I really like the way you work will all kind of materials like, wood, metal, leather, with no problems at all. I would say, that, above all, you are an artist. And a very good one! Thanks for the videos.
I'm a hobby machinist, used to working in tolerances of 1/1000 inch. I'm always amazed that Dave can get such precision fitments using little more than a tape measure, his eyeball and his experience.
To think you nearly built everything yourself, I shake my head in awe, wonder amazement. Now I’m going to watch the whole rebuild from the beginning, because I’m so impressed 😁.
We all take our hats off to you, but what about the origin carriage builders, no spray on glue ,treadle sewing machines, they were true craftspeople as well👍👍👍👍👍👍
As a canvas and upholstery shop owner I enjoy watching your methodology. I often use a double sided seam sealing tape where you use spray adhesive because it leaves the seam water tight. Nicely done.
The Gov't is about to release what info they have on ufo's/aliens and such..I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Dave is from another planet because there's nobody on this planet as talented as this man...
Dave, it's hard to add anything else about what an awesome, outstanding artistic work you so graciously allow us to watch! Thank you! It is indeed a pleasure! Tom in Ceres, CA
It is absolutely fascinating watching a master at work. It has increased my admiration of the old way of doing things. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
All I can say is amazing, Dave. I've done some simple upholstery of chairs and benches but would never attempt something like this. I'd have puckers on top of puckers, wrinkles in the wrinkles and need a psychiatrist standing by at all times. Thanks for the opportunity to watch your excellent work.
All my life I've had managers over my shoulder asking "when can you have this machine back up and running? How long until you've fixed it? When can I tell the bosses you'll be done and we can run?" So I've adapted to becoming an emergency response and repair Millwright with the anxiety of a cat in a firework factory... If I had an ounce of the patience you possess I would be the cat with the match. Salute to You Sir!
Its amazing to think that buggy factories used specialists for each step of constructing a buggy like this one. Dave, on the other hand did everything except grow the trees and mine the iron ore. And I could be wrong about that!
Fascinated to watch the process of the buggy top.I'm sure that if I ever come upon a covered buggy I'll be checking out the way it was put together.Well done!
- I express to you, Dave, my complete admiration for your finely accurate and very well-organized work. Your work in this direction is very important for the preservation of historical memory in the development of means of transport. Your restoration work is perfectly organized and you carry out everything with great precision. You are a fine fellow and a hard worker in the highest concept of these words. THANKS DAVE FOR THE PERFECTLY PREPARED VIDEO! BEST WISHES FROM CITIZENS OF RUSSIA FROM THE CRIMEAN PENINSULA!
The Crimean Peninsula, north of the Black Sea in Eastern Europe, was annexed by the Russian Federation between February and March 2014 and since then has been administered as two Russian federal subjects-the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol. The annexation from Ukraine followed a Russian military intervention in Crimea that took place in the aftermath of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution and was part of wider unrest across southern and eastern Ukraine. Ukraine and many other countries condemned the annexation and consider it to be a violation of international law and Russian-signed agreements safeguarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including the 1991 Belavezha Accords that established the Commonwealth of Independent States, the 1975 Helsinki Accords, the 1994 Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances and the 1997 Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. It led to the other members of the then G8 suspending Russia from the group then introducing a first round of sanctions against the country. The United Nations General Assembly also rejected the referendum and annexation, adopting a resolution affirming the "territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders". The UN resolution also "underscores that the referendum having no validity, cannot form the basis for any alteration of the status of [Crimea]" and called upon all states and international organizations not to recognize or to imply the recognition of Russia's annexation. In 2016, the UN General Assembly reaffirmed non-recognition of the annexation and condemned "the temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine-the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol"
Again I am astonished by the skills of this master in his modetn coach shop. I so wish I could one day visit you sir. Many thanks for sharing your way of restoration and some times fabrication of the arts of yester year!

I have seen ads for those hand stichers in catalogs for 60 years and never could see how they could work, thanks for showing that process. Beautiful work all the wat through.
I like a man who has the confidence to hammer in nails between his fingers.
There were a lot of fingers in danger, but this man is a master with hammers.
Not to mention one slip and he would damage the piece with many hours of painstaking work invested !
Lots of diverse skills on display. The most amazing part is after watching several of these, I have never seen so much as a skinned knuckle or a band-aid on the man. He doesn’t even get his hands dirty. Amazing, doing that kind of work.

Beautiful job. Once it gets out in the sun it will tighten up like a drum.
I love to watch you work. You make it look so easy. A hallmark of a master
