I'm late to the party but here's my unpopular opinion: Baraka is just a chum, he was beaten by absolutely everyone and poses no threat to any character
MKX was cinematically darker. They removed this artistically gloomier approach and substituted a gritty, cold and real feel. I'm really proud of the folks at Netherealm. They keep reinventing. Thanks for all the pride and effort in the franchise. I feel honored to be a 90s kid.
Kudos to Netherrealm Studios for putting all this together. I can't think of a reveal event for any other fighting game that was this big and generated this much hype. Usually, they just have these big reveals at tournaments or events that reveal multiple games at once.
Dragon Ball Fighterz had this hype for sure I was there for Tekken but when they mentioned Fighterz I thought I was gonna lose my hearing lol crazy experience
the reaction for Barraka is the best the crowd got louder every time there was Screen time of barraka. I wouldnt have guessed him being that popular and neither has netherrealms i guess

Ouji-chama Yeah it always bugged me that he was in the story mode but you couldn’t play as him. Rain too for that matter. Hopefully he’ll come back along with Smoke and Noob Saibot. I miss those ninja so much.
I give MK shit for it's clunky dial-up combo strings, janky looking juggles, and forgettable music but one thing I can always count on is a buffet for my eyeballs.

yea rewatching this makes me wonder why nrs aint recreate this epic moment?!? the mk 1 trailer was not all that good compared to this reveal, and mk11 was not what everybody wanted funny enough but it made a big splash :/

Honestly I fell in love with MK11 as soon as it dropped and I can confidently say it’s my favorite in the series. I love the gameplay and the roster is incredible. Not to mention the fatalities lol
It wasnt that hard to be honest, a lot of MKXs fatalities were senceless. Like ripping of someones head first and continuing to rip of other limps after it doesnt make much sense, since the opponent was dead after the first move. This time the fatalities have more purpose and reasoning and only the final blow kills the enemy.
I don’t see injustice 2 having fatal blows, fatality’s, two seperate meter bars, brutality’s, living towers, variations or even half a percent of the gore in this game. Stop making stupid comments saying this is injustice 2, they use the same engine so it has the same graphics, textures and sounds but is nothing like injustice 2, they just took what worked from it and but it in this game.. 2 replies. 11 likes.

Watching this after the MK1 reveal. I can't believe it's been over 4 years. I'll never forget the hype of this livestream, and I'll never forget the disappointment I felt when the game actually came out and it was just a really slow, footsie based strike throw fighting game. If this game ended up playing like mkx did but with more mechanics, this would've easily have been the best time of my life video games wise. I'll never forget the hype, and I'll never forget the disappointment. I don't think I can ever be as hyped for mk1 as I was for this game, but I sure hope it blows my expectations out of the water. I still have faith in NRS, just this one last time.

Baraka ain’t a jobber no more. Got dayum that fatality. Also, the gameplay animation is looking a lot better than previous Netherrealm games. I haven’t seen any fence punching or anything overly wonky. Hopefully Netherrealm took the animation criticism to heart because this already looks amazing
Frizen At least with Baraka, it can be written off as him trying to quickly cut you with his blades. I want to see more of characters who don’t default to weapons on first strike before I get too into this.
Honestly given the whole campy vibe of MK I always figured the "fence punching" was intentional. After all I'm not sure there's a realistic way to animate someone doing a flying bicycle kick.
I like how the X rays are now a natural part of the fight, and not just a cinematic anymore...they seem to be fast and to have many of them for 1 character, which is cool, it makes the fight so intense and at the same time it doesnt stop the action
Funny I thought the same thing. Somehow even more gory than MKX but this one isn't making me feel a little dirty just watching it like X did. Must come down to differences in the style and presentation that effect you subconsciously.
This is what gets me, too. There's just so much suspension of disbelief in this new installment that it's extending out into dark comedy at this point. On one hand I love it, but on the other I'm like "eh... really?"

A proper neutering of beloved characters and their toolkits across the board, a visually impressive but lackluster narrative, grindy RNG mechanics, easy meta exploits, a scattershot variation and customization system, and zoning characters out the ass in a footsie based fighting game? Just when I thought MK X' gore was a bit too much I'm surprisingly very entertained by MK 11's gore. Back to the good old days of comical brutality.
I agree, MKX violence was fun, they tried to be "realistic" and it was most uncomfortable than fun.
Funny I thought the same thing. Somehow even more gory than MKX but this one isn't making me feel a little dirty just watching it like X did. Must come down to differences in the style and presentation that effect you subconsciously.
Scorpion's fatalities are still the best in the game.
