I will give you a few tips:
In the skill tree, when you can afford to upgrade something, there will be a little plus in the corner.
When you are down attacking, it works better if you HOLD down instead of tapping it like you would attack.
Fairy chests contain things from all areas. For example you can find a land of darkness rune in a castle fairy chest or a forest blueprint in a maya fairy chest.
Why has noboby told him:
A) Guardian Armor is the best for NG because of the huge armor boosts.
B) Spellsword and Hokage are the best classes for the final boss.
C) Use skills. Hokage can teleport, Assassin can evade, Paladin can block, Barbarian King can nulify projectiles, and Spellsword can buff for huge damage. They are better than magics.
D) Downstrike combos can decimate the final boss if done during the spear move.
E) Get a sprint rune. Dashes can put space between you and the foe.
NL, quick tip for downward strikes and going below obstacles. If you go to your Options, half way down there is a setting that can turn quick drop on or off. Turning it on just allows you to press down to attack down or to just move down an obstacle.
The tech tree gained about 1 tree in last 10 episodes

Most Let's Plays on UA-cam right now are Blind Let's Plays. Normal Let's Plays are supposed to be about strategy to complete the game and significant detail as to how specific aspects of the game works.
Blind Let's Plays are more about the experiences of the player as they work through the challenges of a game they've never played before. The creator's personality is much more important here, whereas in the former their mastery of the game is more important.
Since I doubt he's going to be getting them any time soon, I might as well tell him classes he's missing
Spelunker, can see ALL (fairy) chests and events, like painting, minibosses, etc.
Lich (King/Queen): increases max hp every kill, to a cap (not sure what the cap is, I believe its 300% of base hp rounded do to the nearest ten, upgrade can half max hp to increase max mp by that much
Spellthief(sword): gains mp per hit, Spellsword has powerful X magic
Half-Dragon: don't know, sounds powerful
Unlock every upgrade, farm the rest of the castle, use the Spellsword, lock the castle when you find a lot of fairy chests then use dwarves/dragons to get them.
Here's a tip: When the Fountain does that stab the ground move, pogo attack the hell out of him.
Might I point out that he actually doesn't have ads therefore no ad revenue, he's actually gearing up for New Game + so that he doesn't get wrecked when he starts that after beating the boss.
There are a few ways. You can lock down the castle - copy your save files and race a friend.
Or restart at level 0 and see how many bosses you can kill.
Or do a few other odd things that might corrupt saves, so I'm not going to suggest them until I've tested them. (Make backups, if you try anything weird.)
He actually used it correctly. Google the definition and you'll see. Here's an excerpt:

... Says he was going to stick to the castle for gold grinding. Goes to Land of Darkness anyways.

also, you can EASILY tell if a chest is a mimic, as well if a portrait is a doom- monster, if it shakes, it fakes, also, mimics dont show up on the minimap and the chest is on the exact location on the mini map
If you want some Pro Strats:
Its super easy to cheese the Fountain by repeatedly downstriking on his head

We have countless times, but he's purposely ignoring most advice. Also, he forgets within an hour and has to rediscover it again later.
NL I dont know if you want to use glitches but if you get the time stop spell and freeze the 1st form of the final boss before he dies then the fountain will be frozen.

You completely misunderstood. I am saying that he was clearly grinding a bit to improve his chances against the boss, and that the fact that NG+ will provide plenty more content on its own means that your implication that he was trying to extend the gameplay doesn't make any sense, that will happen on its own.
He's just having fun with the game. If he were so concerned with cynically adding content for views, we'd have the rest of the Gray's Anatomy series to watch.
and another thing, sky runes can let you move vertically, they let you FLY, not HOVER
Also small tip which I haven't seen u use, if you are not sure how to spend your gold u can go back to the mansion after checking out what u can buy at the blacksmith and enchantress.
In my honest opinions letsplays are simply somone playing a game (however they want to) and sharing it with thier fans/community.
But I see your point too, it's just personal preference.
I would like ot see him try other classes too, but it's his LP so I think it's better to let him do as he pleases.
I wonder how many years it will take NL to realize there are platforms in Johannes' room for him to stand on during the spear move.
Check the options, maybe something there blocking it to 30? Do you use fraps or record anything when you play?
Dear NL, I actually like that you are not min/maxing your upgrades. It means more videos in this series.
But I would rather have NL play the game the way he enjoys playing it rather than how the comment section says he SHOULD play it. I've played a ton of Rogue Legacy and I can say with certainty that it's much more fun when you play the way you personally want to play it rather than "This is best for this, so you should do it because I said so."

Yet whenever he actually DOES take someone's advice he does really well... Case in point: last episode he raged with the the gold upgrade and had the most gold he had ever gotten in one run.
I don't dislike people for helping. It was the way you phrased it that made it seem a bit elitist (and I use the term for lack of a better one).
If you are bad with the down strike, why not do a run in which you try to master it? Will really help with enemies that are below you, or wargs and dark stallions. Also, if you get the fairy chest with enemies out of reach, lock it down and return with weapons that go through walls (fire ring or axes).
I have literally never gotten anything besides runes and stats upgrades in fairy chests. Maybe this was different pre-release?
He has stated pretty clearly that he plays as he likes and doesn't ask anything cause he wants to find out for himself.
His play style like anyone can be adjusted, adaptable and improving. Abusive comments which are disrespectful have no place and should be ignored entirely but making suggestions for him to refine his game isn't a bad thing. Ultimately it's up to him to take it on board or not; but let's say this ended like FTL where he failed to even try to improve things till the very end, then it's not very fun for both parties.

You know what the best part is? I'm pretty sure he's accidentally flown up and not realized it a few times.
Why not pogo stick p2? Just gotta watch out for when he sticks his sword up in the air.
I guess, but if he would grind the easy sections first he wouldn't have to grind over and over again because he would get more gold per run, and the easy areas get cleared very fast, not saying he doesn't have a point, just that he is providing a small amount of extra entertainment now and causing himself to have to grind for longer
Hes actually getting pretty good. Anyone see some of the dodging in ep 16? He plays fast and loose in batches of videos. He'll realize the strategic side eventually. NG+ is where shit will hit the fan and he'll use more advanced tactics.
Unlocking all the runes means you then get permanent stat upgrades from fairy chests.

The same way he doesn't know pressing the Y button lets you use a class's special ability. And even when he does manage to figure that out(before forgetting 5 minutes later), he has no idea what the abilities do, despite the game telling him when he unlocked them.
You should upgrade the Miner. Spelunkers can see all the chests and special rooms on the map from the start. Very helpful if you need to farm for some gold and such.
Before you knock on the blade wall, NL, why don't you try using it on stationary monsters that can't be knocked back, or monsters that are against a wall. That attack hits 5-6 times at once, and is especially brutal when used by a spellthief/spellsword.
It must come with the territory of doing commentary - it does always crack me up when he posits what might be in a faerie chest.
Does the fountain level up each time an heir dies? I could have sworn it was lvl 118 last episode.. :T

it does such little damage though and when the fountain moves you'd have to chase after it again.
That would involve reading the text on the screen which, based on his CK2 LP, is next to impossible for him.

ive been commenting since day 1 about sprint runes. people seem to think theyre useless though. i love them
The frame rate is locked at 30 fps by default I believe, there's a mod you can install which allows you to set the cap to 60 and the resolution to 1920x1080p. I've heard having the frame cap at 60 has helped with framerate issues, so it may help you.

NL, unlock some more classes, spellsword is probably unanymously the most OP one because you can spam empowered spells.
Also, stop only doing the land of darkness esp. with the miner, who's less designed for hard areas and more so you can get the same amount gold from easier areas.
Also also, stop at some point and read the rest of the diary entries, they give Johannes some amazing character development.
Screw the Lich, it's not that good. The Spellthief/sword is where it's at.
It's special casts a super powered version of your spell making it stronger as well as bigger.
You can use this to cheese the carnival man too!

I think you're really searching for a nefarious purpose where none exists. Besides that, a couple things:
-NG+ isn't new content, it's the same content with harder enemies.
-Grinding is an integral part of this game. If people have been watching thus far, they have no issue watching him grind and otherwise move through the same part of the castle multiple times.
Scumbag NL discovers the Barbarian's ability during the final boss, but forgets about it entirely and loses the next time he fights it.
Fus Roh Dah works on every EVERY projectile in the WHOLE frikkin GAME
Don't break the statues in the teleporter rooms = save the meat.
I know, right? Everytime I play as a Spelunker I get 200 per gold bag and get these great 15000-20000 gold runs (I could defeat the boss, but I don't want to because I want to upgrade and prepare for ng+).
Spellswords with tons of magic damage? Liches with tons of HP and MP? DRAGONS? NAAAAAAAAAH.

The framerate isn't so bad if you can hold a clean 30 fps without dropping frames. Still, the DSfix does wonders for the PC PoS port that we were provided. Plus, there is a small chance that altering the framerate cap could get you banned from GFWL, but that's a whole 'nother rant...
Nl the fus roh dah destroys every projectile! not only the daggers in the final boss, it clears the screen of projectiles
you know he has never attacked a turret directly? with the retaliation ruin, they die when they hit you :P
BUY ALL THE MANOR UPGRADES!!! There's a upgrade that lets you reroll your kids once per generation!!!
He should probably have a quick look over his loadout, his got that Vampirism Rune at least which is useless against the boss, and he should also think about if he increases his total health (such as when playing a Barbarian) that increases the value of that retaliation cape
I find lich a poor choice even with full health, he's pretty much the same as a paladin at that point but more mana but doesn't get the shield ability, and pressing the a button causes permanent health issue. (glitch) For final boss I would recommend the barbarian or a fully upgraded critical assassin. A fully upgraded without equipment is 65% chance, with equipment it's 80%, and if you fully upgrade crit damage you can do around 500 damage each hit. Kills all boss like butter in next gen
It's pretty easy to just cheese the final boss like I did if you can get a Hokagi with the Stop Time spell.
Honestly I don't care about the different classes too much, but I want to see him using the classes' fucking ablilities. It is really pissing me off that he loses against Johannes even when he's so close is because he doesn't use the classes' abilities more. (I'm pretty sure that this episode contained the most class ability usage in all of his Rogue Legacy episodes).
Never found a blueprint in a fairy chest before. After i got all the runes all i get is +1 str or so.
And, unlike that guy, most of us WANT more NL videos. After all, we're on his channel to watch his LPs.

use a mage for the final boss fight then when he has low hp so you can 1 or 2 shot him then use time stop and the fountan will not do anything and you will win time stop is just a clock that some mages get

Pretty sure he's said before that he gets next to no money from UA-cam. It's why he finally started streaming on Twitch. I believe he said he gets more money from a single Twitch stream than he does in an entire month's worth of UA-cam uploads.
Quick tip NL. Play barbarin, kill johannes, spam y on fountain when he uses any type of dagger spell (up or across), ???, win.
Some guys still know what they're doing when they Let's Play, but it's really a gamble nowadays when searching up "let's play" as opposed to "walkthrough." I know what you mean, though, I only started noticing the difference in the past year or so.

The saviant trait that you have now gives you randomized spells! So use them!

The game rarily giving you hokage is telling you to unlock the better more worth while classes.
The last thing we need is another lp like isaac that died long ago but continues getting made.
Northernlion, there are more areas than the darkness.

He's stated before that he likes figuring things out on his own. I know you want to help but he's even said he avoids looking at comments because people give away parts of the game.

Why go to land of darkness to farm? Full clear on castle and forest typically gives me 5K gold.....
he is grinding land of darkness for gold, even though its harder he gets gold faster, he doesnt want us watching him grind slow monsters for a little cash

i wish nl would set clear every room in the game so every room of every area as a challenge as well as just beating the bosses have 1 long run and if he tried to do this before he beat the boss he would probably get a tonne of gold
