A lot of time with frozen patties on the gas grill i sear about 3-4 per side and when there is still liquid flip em all a few times to get excess liquid off then move indirect, put on cheese and let em go for 10-15 mins. I have a 3 burner so right 2 are for searing (i can fit 8) and left is off. This is a great way if you cook for large groups. It is a rotational thint and ensures everyone gets a hot patty. We use the frozen patties from Sam's Club a good bit. We have a large family and I am not hand making that many patties by hand LOL. I typically put the patties on the Weber and season the top with Montreal steak seasoning. I close the kid and let them cook on the 1st side. As the top thaws it absorbs the seasoning and then I add seasoning to the other side when I flip. Great tip on adding the sauce while on the grill. I will give that a try! Great video!
Would there be any benefit to thawing prior to grilling? Would thawing allow any seasonings/sauces to penetrate deeper? BTW, we far prefer a griddled bun to ones tossed on the grill - they are more moist, because you can use fats, instead of basically toasting them.

Try cast iron. If you can't find any, do with whatever the most similar. There's always a workaround even if it compromises a bit of the flavor. Remember, it's not the end of the world.
Cost and convenience are definitely a big bonus, but one of the things that I continue to buy frozen burgers for is the simple fact that I can make them the way I want, and they come out better than most fast food and fast casual burgers. It's the little things, like toasting the buns just they way you like, or using the burger drippings to toast them in. Or cutting the onions how my family likes, maybe cooking them with the burgers too. Little things like that. Just grab them out of the freezer, get the pan or grill hot, and put them on. Season, cook, remove, dress, and eat. I love the home made burgers we make here from fresh ground beef, but honestly, the really good quality frozen burgers give me ninety percent of the payoff for less work and time. Thanks for the video and tips. Your burger looked great.
where I work we have a cafeteria and they cook all sorts of things and also have a grill for burgers and dogs and such. they do something a lil different with those frozen patties that makes them a lot more tasty than most. they bake like 50 in the big oven to prep for lunch and dinner rushes. I'd say they prolly cook them done then throw them all in a big pan with beef stock in it with tin foil over the pan and when u order a burger they slap it on the grill for a couple minutes each side with some cheese and they turn out surprisingly good..I didnt say healthy but good!
Pepper Jack, baby! 🤙 I love grinding up some short ribs when I have some time... but I also love having some good frozen premade burgers on tap for crave days. They are really good for those times. I often just do them on my stovetop cast iron flattop or my fancy Le Creuset grill pan. Double them up for sure.
Hey Ry! Thanks for answering so many of my questions. May I respectfully give you some constructive criticism? When I try to recreate your cook (this one) I wonder...how much charcoal did he use? (I used a chimney full and damn near burned everything.) and what were the vent settings. The burgers I cooked tonight were flipped and seasoned according to your dialog, but the fire was WAY TOO HOT. Please tell us how much charcoal and what vent settings if you could. Thanks so much - Charles
This was on a gas grill. But on charcoal there are too many variables for one vent setting to work in all situations. You have to just get used to each grill you use and how it performs for you 😊
Question for ya man. I will set up a 2 zone fire with a full chimney and for the life of me I can't get grill marks. It will brown but zero grill marks. Any suggestions?
How hot is your grill? I do frozen burgers quite often on my gas grill but if I try to turn them after 2 minutes, they are stuck to the grate. I do them at high heat or just a bit under.
Does this apply to homemade frozen burgers? I have a little patty maker and I just buy my own ground beef then make them up and throw them in the freezer for what I need them. You need some more seasonings there especially some liquid smoke maybe some Worcestershire sauce.. I can't wait to make some for tomorrow❤
Ry! Question - looks like you use a hot fire here and lid off throughout the cook...is that correct? I flipped every two minutes and worked well on my Weber gas grill But wasn’t sure about lid and grill temps. By the way tried those brisket burgers - tasty!
You know something we usually have a cook out every Friday and it’s usually hamburgers or steak and when we do hamburgers I always do my own ground beef but this video seemed to do great with my factor so I’m gonna try and expirament with frozen burgers thank you for the tips

Thanks so much :)
Best frozen burger patties I've ever seen. Puts my char-beef pucks to shame. Thanks for the guide.
I’ve been putting seasoning straight to frozen patty did this tip and the sauce part omg completely changed them
where I work we have a cafeteria and they cook all sorts of things and also have a grill for burgers and dogs and such. they do something a lil different with those frozen patties that makes them a lot more tasty than most. they bake like 50 in the big oven to prep for lunch and dinner rushes. I'd say they prolly cook them done then throw them all in a big pan with beef stock in it with tin foil over the pan and when u order a burger they slap it on the grill for a couple minutes each side with some cheese and they turn out surprisingly good..I didnt say healthy but good!
so what temp did you end up cooking the burgers to? Med to med well?
I prefer mine about medium. Though with many frozen burgers, which can be thin, it's easy to overshoot that by a bit.
Always love lettuce and Tomatoes as well..
That looks pretty American to me just the fact its being bbqd its gonna be better.
Thank you👍 an I do white onion with cheese and A-1 steak sauce dill relish, avocado if I got it....but yeah build it 👌 😋
You have to just get used to each grill you use and how it performs for you 😊
@@CookingWithRy Ummm... are we talking about the same video? It's clearly a charcoal grill, :D
Thank you. Im about to do this, just waiting on my mom to come home !
I'll have to try that. Never really gave frozen much of a thought. Certainly would be convenient for those guests that just happen to drop by.
That or teenagers who are suddenly hungry...which happens all the time :)
Well, my daughter just turned 14, so....
i agree good advice. why do you flip so much? i’ve always waited and flip once cory
Still a week from payday and decisions were made with frozen, glad i did too! Never thought about adding sauce at the end, thanks!
Question for ya man. I will set up a 2 zone fire with a full chimney and for the life of me I can't get grill marks. It will brown but zero grill marks. Any suggestions?
If I want grill marks I let the direct side get REALLY hot first so those grates are screaming :)
@@CookingWithRy that's fair. After i posted this I realised I barely let my grates warm up at all. Thanks for the reply man
Thanks. Will try it tomorrow.
How hot is your grill? I do frozen burgers quite often on my gas grill but if I try to turn them after 2 minutes, they are stuck to the grate. I do them at high heat or just a bit under.
I usually run mine at medium high.
Any tips for making one these and a folding grill?
At what approximate temperature should the BBQ grill be at ?
I usually prefer to have my gas burners at a little more than medium.
Followed your tips and my burgers came out well! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing Ry.
I will make it tomorrow for dinner.
Ry! Question - looks like you use a hot fire here and lid off throughout the cook...is that correct? I flipped every two minutes and worked well on my Weber gas grill But wasn’t sure about lid and grill temps. By the way tried those brisket burgers - tasty!
It was a medium-hot to hot fire and lid off :)
What an enjoyable video to watch. Thank you soo much sir
You know something we usually have a cook out every Friday and it’s usually hamburgers or steak and when we do hamburgers I always do my own ground beef but this video seemed to do great with my factor so I’m gonna try and expirament with frozen burgers thank you for the tips
You're welcome! I prefer fresh ground beef but sometimes the frozen patties are convenient :)
Flare ups are always a problem when I cook burgers on the Weber kettle. Any advice?
I move them indirect when that happens.
@@CookingWithRy Alas, I cannot leave my station unattended. Thank you Ry.
I mean on the kettle to an indirect zone.
If you flip it before its ready (3-5 minutes or so), wont it fall apart?
I’ve never had that issue.
Thank you! I’ll be doing this on top of the stove in a pan, using the same tips. Also, I now know the right frozen patties to use.
Do you close the lid during the 2 minutes each side?
I usually leave it open.
Anyone who grills, has or will have to cook frozen burger patties at some point. And these were some great tips.
Especially with hungry relatives :)
is it as good as fresh or close at least? I'm about to buy a shit load of cheap frozen patties from GFS since ground beef costs $99 a pound now days.
There is different quality frozen, just like fresh. I get good quality frozen at a local supplier here called Smart & Final :)
Thanks, Ry. Your writing is fabulous. Thank you.
Thank you :)
