I have been going to this park since it opened in 1976 and was a big fan of coasters. Due to health issues, I can no longer ride them as I learned the hard way last year. It's great to be able to remember what it felt like to ride them watching your videos. Thank you for doing this!
I remember I went there the year that Z Force opened and I rode American Eagle several times. I don't remember what year that was. I think it was 1985 but all I can say is that American Eagle rocked and Z Force sucked.
@@RACCOONS_PAGE Z-force was a "Space diver" Coaster that was incredibly painful to ride and had an annoyingly loud chain lift. Honestly this ride has gotten a lot of hate over the years, and I've never felt once the ride deserved it. It's pretty smooth, the helix is cool and weird, there's great ejector air immediately after the helix, etc. Perhaps there was a period it was really bad before my time, and/or people are eager to tear it down for some epic RMC they've dreamed up in their minds and that's coloring their view of the ride that's actually there, but I've been riding the thing since 2000 and have never had a problem with it. I genuinely believe it's the best of any of the big racing coasters, and that the park takes better care of this ride than many parks take care of their wooden coasters.
I just wish they could get it racing again. It's been a few years since they have. Currently, they alternate between which side is running every year or two.

And back then all you had besides the belt was a bar a foot in front of you. So that ride was the thrill of a lifetime and started my thrill seeking on coasters. Nothing like a little danger. Staying in the car was hard, but adrenaline wins.

Great coaster and great POV video! One of my first and favorite roller coasters. I suggest looking up on your next ride as the track dives into the base of the lift hill. The mass of white wood towering above you is a really cool sight!
👍 Wow I never knew that 42-year-old monster was made by Intamin. Great footage but don't forget to return to get the other half once they remove that tarp @ 1:14 😏
Rode this ride with some of my friends and my 8th grade reading teacher as we went here on a field trip. This is the 2nd roller coaster I’ve ever done and it scared the hell out of me. I remember screaming as my teacher was laughing hysterically 😂
I first rode the Eagle back in '83 when one of my uncles (and his family) from down south and I had a blast. I rode it backwards in 1991 (10 year anniversary of the Eagle's opening, IIRC) and between that and the Shock Wave, I became a coaster fanatic.
I actually really like this ride, I think it has some good airtime moments plus it’s a classic. I actually find Viper to be a LOT more rough than this one. A good retracting and this could be around for longer
Finally fit back on this classic. Rougher than I remember but then it’s older than me lol. Even tho they had both trains running it’s a shame they don’t race them anymore.
Can you imagine the pre-lift section if RMC got a hold of it. This was the coaster in 94 that started my love for coasters and I make sure to give it a few rides every year.
It's a fun but tame ride for a woodie; you go out, you come back. It was better when they raced blue vs red, or occasionally ran it backwards. The best part about this ride was always the shaded wait in line and the line moved so fast you'd rarely wait more than 5, maybe 10 minutes tops (or frequently no wait at all), especially if you didn't care about being in the first or last row.
I don’t think they will ever RMC it, I think they decided to let it ride original til it can’t and take it down. Do they even run the other side anymore?
You want to be in the REAR seat as that goes the fastest. Note that in the front you are hanging almost not moving like a fourth the way down the first big drop because the rest of the coaster behind you didnt get over the hump yet. Also, notice that that big loop overlooking the 294 expressway: its getting more and more violent and shaking your head back and forth. Ive heard from a guy that worked there in the 1980s that this coaster because it was wood only had a 20 to 25 year lifespan and then it was supposed to come down. Didnt happen.
I went on this ride and it was actually pretty good. It was actually my first time on these big roller coaster. As soon as the drop went in, i literally felt like i was gonna die.
My one and only ride on this in June wasn’t that bad honestly and yes it was very rough but it didn’t kill me like many other rough wooden coasters I’ve experienced. The only part I actually hated was the helix
