On a 1950 Olds, I painted the body candy saphire blue (saphire candy over silver base) and a panel job on the roof. On the last of 4 colors, I pulled the paint off along with the masking tape. Lesson hard learned not to cut the mask on the body. Fantastic results on your Del Rey.
I hear you as I have had problems in the past also. In some cases I still can't get around cutting on the body, but I take it slow and careful. Thanks 👍
Nice !👍🏻 its not easy getting Flames to lay out right ! Creating them from your head is even tuffer! Im liking this one! That is a great looking 56’!🏆🫡🇺🇸
I just watched the video on headliners, and I was thinking how beautiful the flames came out - and I'm not much of a flame guy! This idea with the masking and using a Pyrex dish is a neat idea - makes me want to try it. I won't be able to get anywhere near this kind of result, not being able to use an airbrush and limited to brushes and rattle cans ..... but it gives me ideas!! Somewhere recently, I saw an idea that if you put a fine layer of the base color or clear over the masking material, it helps to seal the edges and reduce/eliminate the bleed-under.
Hey Dan does the tape leave residue on your base color when doing this? I use tamiya tapes which are great but depending on the curves of the body lines sometimes it leaves alot sticky residue. Any tips how to fix ? Thanks great looking paint and flames.👍
I have been using the frog tape a lot more lately as I really like the results with working with it. I have had no glue residue, and it is still pretty thin tape so not to much paint build up on the hard line. It also holds curves really well compared to the hobby lobby/ Tamiya style tape. I would recommend you give it a try. Thanks 👍
Beautiful work! I just got some Creatix paint in a sale. I'm curious what ratios (approximate, if you don't measure) you use for your paint, 4011, and 4050? What air pressure setting are you using? I want to try using mine.
I do measure on the 4050 and 4011, I meant that I didn't measure out the pearl powder as it was such a small amount being mixed. Mixing ratios for createx are all listed on their website. Thanks
Fantastic ghost flames. Been scared to try the createx line. But there’s some fantastic colors👏🏻🏆

Createx has hot rod sparkle colors. Very nice pearls.
Yes they are nice.
Awsome simply awsome!!! What clear did you put on it?
I use a 2 part mix clear. Thanks 👍
What did you use for the clear coat? It looks awesome!
I used a 2k. Thanks 👍
That's so cool how long do you wait to put tape when you just finished painting one tone
I spray a coat or 2 of the 4050 over fist color as an inter coat clear. I then let dry/set up for at least an hour. Thanks 👍
