I just got the Spot Gen 4 but I have a question. Why and in what situation is tracking used for? The actual manual that comes with it does not say what it's for. Why do you need to activate tracking? what does it do? Do you have to activate tracking before using SOS? Do you have it on at all times? Thanks!
You don't have to activate tracking in order to use SOS. You only need to activate tracking if you want family and/or friends to see your location. I track for my wife and kids so they can see where I am and if I need help in a "non-life threatening" situation, they will know where I am. It also gives my wife some comfort when she can see my location. Let me know if you have any other questions. Rick
You bring up a great point. I was sure I had done some but I only have a comparison between the ACR Bivy Stick and Zoleo. There are several Garmin's I could choose from for the first comparison video. Do you have a preference as to what comparison you would want to see first and the second? Rick
crap. didn't realize the spot was 1-way. thanks for the video!
Glad to help. The Gen 4 is 1-way but the SPOT X is 2-way.
Rick
Thanks for the info!👍
You bet!
