He's autistic, so getting him to focus one something for long periods is hard - but the moment baby Spheal comes on screen, he is wide eyed and staring directly at the screen until we close the video. (I assume the profile pic gave that away but in any case) As the proud owner of a Big Spheal Plushie, I can speak from personal experience that you can't go wrong with Spheal! I never fail to smile myself when I see him & he's cheered me up several times when going through rough patches in my own life ^_^

I appreciate how the larger one actually has a little more jiggle and squash when it rolls. Because as you said, it has more fat. The extra detail has not gone unnoticed!
I love how unlike their parent, the Spheals don’t use their flippers to scooch and move. Instead they just roll around like soccer balls to get where they want.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they got the idea from Legends Arceus. You see Spheal doing that all the time in that game, and even deal with a quest of following one rolling it’s way down a mountain.
You can train them to do stunts while rolling, frequently called flipper rolls. The trainer would call out: Two flipper rolls! and the Spheals will roll in sync. Edit: In case you haven't got it, it's a Rhythm Heaven reference.
I can imagine the Avalug telling their mom “I believe these are yours. “ 😂 This was a roller coaster of adorable and traumatizing. Just like a real life animal documentary. Good show! 👍
The bergmite probably told the avalugg about the spheals on its back, they probably have their own unique way of communicating like how spheal claps its belly to communicate to its mother

I like how you don’t try to make the Pokémon look too realistic like other Poké-Earth documentaries or that Detective Pikachu movie! It really helps your animations avoid the uncanny valley pitfall trap that so many others keep falling into!
Tbh, I respect the fact that Pokémon itself acknowledged that some Pokémon would look very uncanny in real life. There was no way Mr Mime would ever look cute outside of the anime’s stylization.
You know in real life seals do that as a warning to back off. And believe me Seals are cute but they can get Aggressive like crazy especially the Leopard Seals, them can get nasty.

You know, I never pictured an Avalugg swimming before. I assumed that they plodded along on land like glaciers. The underwater shot of the Avalugg was wonderfully done.
I like the idea that scientists in the Pokéarth haven't had deep and close interaction with Pokémon yet, like in battles and such, so they don't know that the likeliest reason that the Avalugg decided to drop off the Spheal brothers is because Pokémon are sentient, and the Avalugg showed compassion to them, having some Bergmite young of its own.
Well, the pokemon professors we know are just the ones that for the most part specialize in local species and the community's interactions with them. There aren't many of them that mention visiting other regions as a normal thing they do or if they do it's just a neighboring one. Oak is one of them that gets around because he was there at the beginning of the institutionalized research that sort of spawned the local professor program. Most with an interest were going out in the fields for the most part up until that point, then the research field itself opened up more for there to be a general practice as well as the study practice.
There can totally be more depth applied to the world Pokemon built, it's already kind of there. But at the end of the day it's the critters themselves that bring in the money you know. Just wish they weren't butts about it so fan projects can evolve and fill in the depth missing for folks liking it.

Trust me, I know what you mean. I've read the whole manga up until part of Black and White and also XY. Also, have you ever heard of the Diamond and Pearl Adventures manga? It's not connected to the Pokémon Adventures universe, but it's a really good read and does a lot of things creatively based on the source material, I'd highly recommend it.

This is the true emotional roller coaster. In the first half, it’s all about the adorable Spheals, and they’re so cute, and in the second half, it takes all your prior happiness away, and in the credits, it gives you some back.

I love how this is almost exactly like the real seal documentary, but with spheal. Makes me wonder if inside pokemon universe they have fictional animals that are basically like the ones from our world. And the animation looks so good.
The inclusion of Bergmite and Avalugg was a nice touch! It's really interesting to see it actually floating about like an iceberg... The only real sign it's a Pokemon being the unnatural-looking triangle for its head, and the Bergmites fondness for that particular spot. (Was also cute to see the Avalugg return the Spheals! A little Pokemon-level wholesomeness to adorn an otherwise serious view of the Pokeworld's arctic...) ... And of course, A+ for the fluffy roundness of these adorable, chubby, round babies!! Neat that the Walrien wasn't as fluffy, as real-life seals molt out of their cute fuzz when they're older. Makes me wonder if them shedding would be a sign they're going to become a Sphealio soon.
BRUH WHY YOU GOTTA HIT ME IN THE FEELS WITH THE ENDING?! Spheal's such a round, delightful little orb of a pokemon, and the lil belly drum was _so_ adorable, this series is incredible, mate!

As it stands, I half think the Bergmites told their mom about their new Spheal friends and Avalugg decided to return their kids' new friends to the mainland. Most pokemon who aren't actively engaging in a predator/prey dynamic for survival are willing to show compassion and help each other, since most adult pokemon have functional sentience and sapience on par with adult humans.
I love how the Spheal roll around, not just because it’s ADORABLE, but because, as mentioned, Spheal don’t have much in the way of body fat yet. They don’t have much energy to spare. They’re babies, so EVERYTHING has to go into maintaining body heat. As such, rolling around and using gravity is probably the best way for them to move at the highest speed with the littlest energy.
Spheal was already the most adorable Pokémon since Gen 3 dropped. Now someone went and made it even more adorable?!! I didn’t know such a thing was possible
As a fan of animal documentaries and Pokemon I love how you blended the two in such a realistic way (including the harsh reality of nature being nature. I've seen some messed up stuff that I've been traumatized by 😀)
There is a Nintendo game called New Pokemon Snap, which has similar concepts featuring pokemons sleeping and fighting. But Pokearth series are more vivid🥹

The coolest part of this to me is with them on Avalugg's back. I honestly had not even thought or realized that they had been on its back at first and believed it was just a perfect separated ice formation. Actually, I thought the Avalugg was there to try and eat them lol. I hadn't noticed that the camera was a shot to show it underwater with it's back out the top. Even the "It had a mind of its own." didn't register to me for some reason haha. That was so awesome! ❤

Spheal. This little fluffy balls are one of the cutest Pokémon. Being this hearthwarming as an ice-type is a special thing. Thus the end nearly breaks the hearth. I know it's realistic, but Pokémon dying is always something I tend to ignore.
i adore this kinda stuff, nature docs but it's got more whimsy and magic with the mix of canonical pokemon facts and the behavior of the animals they're based on. also the spheal are adorable, really glad the ones we saw turned out ok (but i wish they all did :,))
Spheal has absolutely captured my heart since his introduction to the Pokémon world, and this video has almost brought me to tears with how wonderful it is. They do that in the overworld in gen 8/9.
Off the coast of Galar in the Crown Tundra you can find them in the water.
Meanwhile in Paldea they can be found near the Herba Mystica location in the lake.
Meanwhile in Hisui as an Ice/Rock Type.

@@vanessathomas9641 To be honest, I have always taken the Pokedex sizes as more of an "average for the species" instead of a constant and I believe that's the intended purpose. In the case of Legendaries I share your view. There's no way Groudon is barely taller than a professional basketball hoop.

Nah. Much like Games Workshop, Nintendo would take way too much control of the project and the artist would have to compromise where they usually wouldn't and a subpar product would be made.

I love how this is almost exactly like the real seal documentary, but with spheal. Makes me wonder if inside pokemon universe they have fictional animals that are basically like the ones from our world.
And the animation looks so good.
The inclusion of Bergmite and Avalugg was a nice touch! It's really interesting to see it actually floating about like an iceberg... The only real sign it's a Pokemon being the unnatural-looking triangle for its head, and the Bergmites fondness for that particular spot. (Was also cute to see the Avalugg return the Spheals! A little Pokemon-level wholesomeness to adorn an otherwise serious view of the Pokeworld's arctic...)
... And of course, A+ for the fluffy roundness of these adorable, chubby, round babies!! Neat that the Walrien wasn't as fluffy, as real-life seals molt out of their cute fuzz when they're older. Makes me wonder if them shedding would be a sign they're going to become a Sphealio soon.
BRUH WHY YOU GOTTA HIT ME IN THE FEELS WITH THE ENDING?! Spheal's such a round, delightful little orb of a pokemon, and the lil belly drum was _so_ adorable, this series is incredible, mate!

As it stands, I half think the Bergmites told their mom about their new Spheal friends and Avalugg decided to return their kids' new friends to the mainland.
Most pokemon who aren't actively engaging in a predator/prey dynamic for survival are willing to show compassion and help each other, since most adult pokemon have functional sentience and sapience on par with adult humans.
The bouncing around of the fatter Spheal is so perfect and a excellent attention to detail

I love how the Spheal roll around, not just because it’s ADORABLE, but because, as mentioned, Spheal don’t have much in the way of body fat yet. They don’t have much energy to spare. They’re babies, so EVERYTHING has to go into maintaining body heat. As such, rolling around and using gravity is probably the best way for them to move at the highest speed with the littlest energy.
Spheal was already the most adorable Pokémon since Gen 3 dropped. Now someone went and made it even more adorable?!! I didn’t know such a thing was possible

The coolest part of this to me is with them on Avalugg's back. I honestly had not even thought or realized that they had been on its back at first and believed it was just a perfect separated ice formation. Actually, I thought the Avalugg was there to try and eat them lol. I hadn't noticed that the camera was a shot to show it underwater with it's back out the top. Even the "It had a mind of its own." didn't register to me for some reason haha.

Spheal. This little fluffy balls are one of the cutest Pokémon. Being this hearthwarming as an ice-type is a special thing. Thus the end nearly breaks the hearth. I know it's realistic, but Pokémon dying is always something I tend to ignore.

Pokedex indicates that it's somewhat correct, so I think it's accurate. Maybe a few inches bigger but it's pretty accurate

i adore this kinda stuff, nature docs but it's got more whimsy and magic with the mix of canonical pokemon facts and the behavior of the animals they're based on. also the spheal are adorable, really glad the ones we saw turned out ok (but i wish they all did :,))
Spheal has absolutely captured my heart since his introduction to the Pokémon world, and this video has almost brought me to tears with how wonderful it is.
