- This video is dedicated to Alexander Vera. Thru him all things are possible. Without his work behind the scenes prodding me along this video would never have been produced. I'd also like to dedicate all the bad words to Alexander Vera too. I hope this video helps.
Thanks for posting! These vehicles are becoming old and there are less of them on the road. It's hard to find information and parts but it's a fun and very capable little Trooper!
I agree. I haven't made a video in a while and I'm due. I have a few projects on Shrek but no time.
I love watching your videos, even though I don't have an Isuzu yet (considering '98 Rodeo 4WD) you remind me of the fun uncle helping mod a car over the summer drinking beer and smoking Winstons telling me what to do next.
Sounds about right lol
Thanks for posting man
My trooper is getting these soon
Good work. I really love Trooper
Well that looks stupid easy so I will be ordering some shortly.
Dude I love ur videos
Thank bro. I stopped doing them a few years ago but still have Shrek.
Your Isuzu didn't have auto hubs, there just straight locked drive flanges
I am glad somebody noticed.
hi - what did it do to the TOD display on the dash?
did you need to change anything on the computer / error code?
Hi. I have a 98 without TOD.
17 spline?
I’m greasing it all up, cuz nobody will tell me and I don’t give a shit....you’re fine hilarious brother.
Thanks pal
Robb, I want to convert MY 98 without TOD to manual lock hubs, but I see the AISIN fit charts all stop at 1996 as the latest year they say they fit. On the Trooper Mafia page, some guys tell me the FGM 001 part is the right fit, that the AISIN company doesn't list past 1996 because the TOD came out in 1997, so they won't list them as fitting, because you can't use them with TOD systems. I sent AISIN in Asia an email a few days ago, but they probably won't answer it. Yours appear to be used but in good condition, so how'd you know they would fit your '98, AKA "Shrek"?
I believe they are 27 tooth. That was all that mattered. I got mine from Jerry Leamond who simply told me that they fit my 98 without TOD. As long as the spline count is correct your good
Kevin. Do you belong to Isuzu Trooper Mafia (US) on Facebook? If not join. Lots of good guys there.
Agree.!!!
It's a wonderful place I hear that admin is a great guy too 😁
Hi Robb O, What size of tires are using after your lift?
285/75/16
@@robbo6460 2 inch lift and 285/75/16 tires?how about the clearance between tires and body?
@@khairulanwarazhar6695 No issues on my end. No rubbing or anything. Plenty of clearance.
Hi Robb, did you end up getting better fuel millage? Thanks for all these vids. Bought a 3.1TD a few months ago and plan on taking it to Morocco in the summer so these videos will help me lots.
Nope. I guess the snorkel really killed my MPG. I get 10.5 to 12 depending on conditions. Thanks for the kind words on my videos. I appreciate it
@@robbo6460 Holy cow! I am happy then, because with the stock hubs, I get about 17-18mpg highway, 10 mpg towing a 19-foot-long, 1.5 ton (lightweight) camper trailer. But a couple days ago while on the last leg of a road trip, the exhaust broke loose at the flange that bolts to the header, and scared the shit outa me with that sudden noise. Thought I blew the engine, but nope. Just a broken exhaust pipe right behind the manifold, at the first flange weld.
I think it broke because only two of the three bolts in the manifold/pipe connection had nuts holding the flange on. The third was gone! It had to have been like that since I bought it 10 years ago, and finally cracked until it fell off. I saw that when I got under to wire it up for the trip home. I appreciate your videos. Thank you for sharing the details, your experience and mechanical knowledge, and your common sense view on things, like packing the hubs with grease. Better a packed up bitch than not, I agree.
@@logmeindangit I'm glad I can help. Thanks for the kind words
Good..!
Great video. Very helpful. This is what I want to do on my 93. What hubs did you use? I have seen them from $50 to $450
Robert Lawrence I got them from Jerry and paid $137. They are Asian OEM hubs. Hit me up on Isuzu Mafia on Facebook if you need contact info
Robb O thank you. I will. They sent me to your roof rack video
Where can I get part izuzu trooper 86 4x4 diesel 2 door
Try Isuzu Trooper Mafia on Facebook. It's a group of Trooper people that care.
Got a question about it- on the last piece that the manual hubs get bolted on to (the one that takes the 8mm hex head bolts) mine has lots of free play and moves a few mm in each direction is that cause for concern? I have some noise from my front and not sure if it’s a wheel bearing or whatever that piece is called
Are you talking about the cap or under the cap where the spacer goes?
Robb O it’s the giant black metal in your video I think it’s called the hub housing assembly. Has 6 holes around the outside and 6 small threaded holes to accept the manual hub- the piece that is just behind the c clip. On mine that center rotational piece has play
@@alecgildner1200 the 6 outter bolts lock it to the brake rotor. I assume those bolts are tight and your movement includes the brake rotor too? Your hub assembly is loose and needs to be tightened or your bearing assembly is shot. Either was it's not difficult. Are you in any Facebook groups for isuzu?
@@alecgildner1200 this shou help too.
ua-cam.com/video/PkNQ176_Jp8/v-deo.html
Robb O sorry I meant it has play itself when it’s not bolted to the rotor. When bolted down the rotor/hub is solid. I have a post on planetisuzoo for it too www.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=142685
Do you know if you can do this to a 4x4 trooper, if the 4x4 doesn't work?
I don't see why not but why?
@@robbo6460 I imagine I'd be cheaper to do if there was an issue with the 4x4.
What a foul mouth !
You talk too much..
What the Hell do you want, stupid music? Turn the sound down if you don't like it. Sheesh.
