Its also so interesting how Taylor chose the actors (Sadie sink and Dylan obrien) bc they’re such good depictions of who Taylor and Jake were at the time. You recognize Dylan from movies 10 or so years ago. He is universally recognized as a good guy and he’s established in the industry and himself. You recognize Sadie from something within the last few years where she is specifically portrayed as a kid. Then you find out that these actors are the same ages as Taylor (19) and Jake (29) and everything is put more into perspective.
I love how perfectly the video shows the good parts of the relationship too bc it really shows both that she DOES remember it all too well, and how absolutely wild it is that he never said he loved her
the scarf thing happened, and there are pics from the first week of them while taylor wears the same one. And the end it's not just a symbolism, he actually continued to wear Taylor's scarf time later 😂
If you guys aren’t sick of the All Too well content - the behind the scenes of the short film is also an amazing watch - the emotions you see on Taylor’s face while directing are just…I can’t explain
5:30 I swear y’all are healing so many girls just by validation. Also, every single female will agree that ain’t NOTHING stronger than a human who feels life authenticity.
Taylor has said that the parts of the film where it says "first crack in the glass" "are you real" etc is supposed to represent chapters of the book she had written about the situation which you see at the end. I also love that it's literally representing what she actually did. She wrote the song and shared it with the fans and we all cried and connected with it. And that's exactly what is happening at the end. She is reading us the story and the fans are listening, crying and connecting with it. It's so lovely.
15:28 when Darriel says “LEAVE” 😂😂 you’re fed up with this dude 😂 I just love how much you guys truly appreciate the depth of her lyricism. And also obsessed with how cute you guys are when you watch each other watching the video 🥹
There’s also speculation that the reason she got Dylan to kiss Sadie upside down (13:23) is because in real life Jake Gyllenhal dated Kirsten Dunst (who was kissed upside down by Spider-man) and Taylor was trying to make a nod to the fact that Kirsten was also 20 when she started dating Jake, and Taylor was 20 dating Jake when he was 29.
i actually think she did that because jake said/implied once that kirsten was the only person he's ever really loved. that's why that scene plays over her saying "back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known" because that wasn't actually true, she just wanted it to be.
@sarajaudon8463: Ohhh!!! I knew there had to be a reason for that kiss but I didn’t know that he dated Kirsten Dunst at 20/29!! Wow!! She’s soo good. I have seen this short film at least 20 times and still couldn’t find the reference for that kiss. THANK YOU!! ☺️
the scarf was a metaphor for her virginity/innocence, but also a real thing! the real scarf wasn't red, but I think she changed it to match the album title
I keep coming back to watch y’all’s reaction. I can’t explain how healing it feels to be SEEN by men. Not lusted or desired or fantasized or fetishized just SEEN.
off topic but you guys’ friendship is honestly so great. i rarely see men acknowledging emotions and being vulnerable around each other so that’s just great to witness and one of the reasons I love your channel💜
How have you guys not listened to “the moment I knew” ?! That song is top tier and talks about this whole mess of a relationship y’all know all too well about
I really love how much you guys respect the craft & the emotion behind the songs. You don’t belittle, condescend, or say it’s over dramatic and that is so refreshing. Thank you.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE (Edit) just finished watching the video, 10/10 At around 7:57 you said that is real and fun fact, it actually kind of was. When Taylor wrote this part of the script it wasn't meant to last that long, but Dylan and Sadie got caught in the moment and started improvising and Taylor and her team decided to keep it in Her choice of actors is really important too, not only because Taylor wrote this script with Sadie in mind but also because Dylan and Sadie have a large age gap, he's 32 and she's 21. Taylor and Jake Gyllenhaal (the guy the song is about) have a 9 year age gap. She was 20 and out of a relationship with John Mayer when they started dating, he was 29. As for the scarf most of the fandom says it represents her virginity, I prefer to believe it represents her actual innocence, her girlhood even
Taylor really did an amazing job with all the small details. Since Taylor (20) and Jake (29) had a 9 year difference when they were together she chose Sadie (19) and Dylan (30) so that you can visually see the big age gap between them. And in the dinner scene with the friends of the guy you can see everyone has their wine glass drank a good amount except Taylor’s glass. Which is still full because she is still not 21 yet ,she is still 20 and everyone around is older. She just has the glass of wine there as pure decoration and to try to appear to not be left out.
if you watch closely while future taylor is reading her book, she’s saying the first few lines of the song, “i walked through the door with you, the air was cold but something about it felt like home somehow”
the thing about the scarf is complicated bc there actually was a certain scarf that he kept but she did confirmed it is a metaphor and many people understood as being her virginity but i personally think it make more sense with the lyrics if it was a simpler metaphor where the scarf merely represents her love or her heart since its something that he kept and he can't get rid of it bc he remembers
I highly recommend you listen to 'The Moment I Knew' off the album Red, which is about her 21st birthday as shown in this video. Another "in the feels" song. Also, '22' is an upbeat pop song about her 22nd birthday .. she wrote because the milestone of her 21st sucked so hard. And now it's the anthem of every 22 year old 😂 (the power of Taylor Swift lol)
The Moment I Knew is what I think of as an All Too Well sister song. It talks about her 21st birthday and the realization that he wasn’t coming. Sooo beautiful and underrated!
Also, if you notice at the dinner party, everyone was drinking but she wasn't, because she wasn't 21 yet and they were all older. Taylor has said time and again she never drank before she was of age. But then after thre breakup you see her with a drink in her hand. And that's because she's 21 and remembering her birthday party that he didn't bother showing up to
Gentleman. As a Swiftie dating back to her country girl self titled days (I'm 40)... Thank you for receiving her (and by proxy her fans) pain and creativity with such understanding. Taylor is so popular because she is the one among us it seems who can perfectly put heartbreak we have ALL experienced to words. I love watching you fall in love with it. Thank you for no misogyny laden judgement. seriously.
I agree 100%. I'm a little older than you and I can't even express how much of a relief it is to be able to listen to men discussing Taylor Swift without my blood pressure spiking lol.
What is so gut-wrenching about the hand-dropping thing is that he allegedly doesn't remember when, to her, that was the BIGGEST thing that happened that night. Like something so significant to her he couldn't be bothered to recall.
I have a visceral reaction to cry every single time I watch the short film. I feel a lot of us have been in that same situation the song portrays. Me included
I have been patiently waiting for y'all to react to the Short film and i just got so happy when I saw thia notification. Beautiful reaction guys you two are amazing and love that you see right through the gaslighting
9:57 “And you call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest I’m a crumpled up piece of paper lying here cuz I remember it all all all too well.” This song is a deep window into the world of narcissism/narcissists. I lived this for 24 years. I feel every ounce of her pain throughout the whole video and just even in the song itself. I left my narcissistic marriage last January and all I can say is Taylor Swift has helped me make it through the darkest time in my life. This song most notably. I’m so grateful she has the platform to be able to bring awareness to toxic relationships to the world and how it is so insidious. All three elements: love bombing, devalue and discard stages and it all occurs behind closed doors. I so appreciate your reactions and knowledge of gaslighting etc. I love your anger and disgust. It’s such a lonely place to because this type of behavior is soul crushing and can’t be understood unless lived!
Also the OG swifties like myself are divorced about who she lost her v to. “Give me back my girlhood it was mine first”, is a lyric from another song you’ve done of hers would’ve could’ve should’ve about John Mayer who she dated before Jake. It’s all part of the lore
the pure joy i get from watching these videos is unreal. i love watching you guys discover her genius through music! easily becoming one of my favorite channels, keep up the good work!
Another great reaction! Seeing u guy’s totally understand this song now & just your whole Tay journey so far is just🤌🏻 Since u have done the song Ready For It already, Please please plz do her performance of it in the opening of her Reputation tour! U need to see her perform, so u can have your minds blown 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I loved your reaction. This song is so special, not to mention that while listening to it, you can’t even feel that it’s a 10min song. Please react more to our queen taylor ❤
This is only the second time I’ve watched that kitchen scene. I just can’t. Listening to him invalidate her and make her feel likes she’s crazy and selfish. It gets me. I’m glad you guys saw it right away for what it was.
THANK YOU! Your reactions validate a similar experience I had when I was 22. Her music takes me back to that time in my life and helps me process everything they happened and I just love how you guys actually take the lyrics seriously and don’t belittle anything. ❤
Aside from most of the taylor swift songs this one is not symbolic, is actually portraying literally everything, that's why she says "i remember it all too well" everything in the song is a soft touch of realism to allow us to picture the whole story in our heads... The scarf isn't the virginity, and we figure it out when she released "would've could've should've" that talks about that in a more evident way (you have to react to that one, is one of those songs that broke the internet for swifties) so in the song, the scarf is literally that, a scarf and the song just makes the scarf the symbol of him keeping the memory of her, emotionally and literally.
yeah idk that the scarf symbolises her V, because like others said it seems (at least from her songs) that that was JM (from when you listened to Would've Should've Could've maybe you remember the line "give me back my girldhood, it was mine first"). but it was even more toxic with JM, and there was an "emotional V" with JG that i think the scarf symbolises, she was *really really* in love with JG and she thought it was real in a way that nothing had been before. at least that's what i get from the music...
The end made me realise that the lyric "I'm a crumbled up piece of paper lying here, 'cause I remember it all too well" because in the film, the book she was writing about him, the pages, the scene where she crumbles it and throws it down, because thats what he did to her, crushed her and threw her away AAAAAAAAAAA SHE IS A MASTERMIND
Yo I literally screamed walking to my car after i realized y’all posted this 😭😂🤗 I absolutely can’t wait until you guys upload another video I check multiple times a day 😭 I love your reactions pls never stop 💓🤩
They should listen to the moment I knew because the moment I knew really ties in with the line in all too well 10 min version when she says “he watched me watch the front door willing you to come and he says it's supposed to be fun turning 21”. The moment I knew when you're listening to it it makes you realize that she's referring to that moment
12:41 The scarf represents a real scarf not her virginity as far as I know, but the scarf isn’t red in real life her album was called Red so maybe that’s why she changed it to red in the video. This song is about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.
You create my fave TS reaction videos so far. It’s just so heartwarming to see two cool men get her music as much as you do. It just highlights what is so special about music - it reminds us that we all share the same wonderful and terrible human experience ❤
I just want to say I am really glad I found your channel. The way you guys appreciate Taylor's lyrics and validate her experience instead of writing her off with a misogynistic lens is so refreshing coming from men. Y'all are doing great things, and I'm happy to be a new subscriber. Can't wait to see more of your reactions!
You guys need to check out The moment i knew song. It is from the same album as All too well. This song tells you everything about that birthday party he didn't attend. The moment i knew is so so soooooo sadddd.......
One of the most powerful songs imo. You feel every single word. Especially when going through a break up. “And you call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest. I’m a crumpled up piece of paper lying here cause I remember it all.” 😭😭
As someone that was groomed this song sings deep into my soul. He was 34 and I was 16 when we first met. Became mutual friends bc he was friends with a guy my mom dated at the time. They rode bikes and I grew up riding. Always wanted to go with them so I always rode with him. As soon as I turned 17 we started dating. Mom knew him well and was okay with it. He was 37.. dated off and on till my 21st birthday. He brainwashed me so bad. Had me thinking all the toxic, narcissistic, love bombing, and sexual manipulation was okay. Would ghost me for days when another man talked to me then turn around and blamed it on me. Then that’s not what happened. I didn’t do that… blah blah blah.
amazing reaction!! if you guys haven’t watched miss americana yet, you should react to that too, it’s her documentary and you’ll get a lot of insights to her life!!💌
Brilliant again lads! The film is incredible, so emotional when you put it together with this truly wonderful song you get the magic of Taylor, she really is above all at this point. By the way don't know if it was mentioned but the argument was improvised, Taylor just let the actors run with it 😊
I haven’t seen it said yet, but in the dinner party scene she has a full wine glass because SHE WASN’T OLD ENOUGH TO DRINK YET! Also she’d straightened her hair and was wearing red lipstick for the first time that we’d seen because she was trying to appear older.
ALSO if y’all look for it in the music video you’ll be able to tell they use blue and orange/red lighting to reflect cold and warmth and you’ll see the switch from to the other quite a lot!! All throughout the film they do it I love it I feel like it resembles him being cold and her being warm
In the beginning of the film she asked him "is this real?" And "Are you real?" And at the end of the song she is repeating "I was there. I was there. IT WAS REAL."
As a woman its really healing to see men feel impacted by female stories and experiences, keep it up

It’s so refreshing to see two men reacting and more importantly ENJOYING this music, you guys are two of my fave reactors 😊
This should be an educational film for guys on what not to do. Great reaction, Thank you.
You create my fave TS reaction videos so far. It’s just so heartwarming to see two cool men get her music as much as you do. It just highlights what is so special about music - it reminds us that we all share the same wonderful and terrible human experience ❤
Y’all are my favorite thing right now! Keep up the great work/content ❤
Y’all are doing great with these edits ❤ I love following y’all in this swiftie journey!
Yes! Thank you for all the content! ❤
I got chills when you both realized he was wearing the scarf at the end LOL love you guys
Its hard to find like you guys who react to her songgs and lyrics as well.. i like ur reactions so much ❤
im obsessed with ur guys reactions
You guys need to check out The moment i knew song. It is from the same album as All too well. This song tells you everything about that birthday party he didn't attend. The moment i knew is so so soooooo sadddd.......
I love that everyone's reaction at seeing him standing in the window is the same: "LEAVE"
One of the most powerful songs imo. You feel every single word. Especially when going through a break up.
“And you call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest. I’m a crumpled up piece of paper lying here cause I remember it all.” 😭😭
I get all the feels watching you two listening and appreciate her writing. you're awesome.
The fact that the scene where Sadie and Dylan fight in the kitchen wasn't scripted is the best fucking thing in the world
In literally one camera shot
BRO I WAS WAITING FOR THIS, HELL YES!
you guys are so great reacting at this, i love it
As someone that was groomed this song sings deep into my soul.
14:15 “You have learned NOTHING” it’s giving, “JOJO! HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING?!”
15:27 “leave” LMAOO
amazing reaction!! if you guys haven’t watched miss americana yet, you should react to that too, it’s her documentary and you’ll get a lot of insights to her life!!💌
I'm a gay woman but I think I'm in love with both of you 😂 thank you for being such lovely humans
I have been waiting for this one! I loved the reaction
From tiktok to UA-cam real quick HAHA i guess i like seeing you react on Taylor's songs HAHA
You guys having your own not in front of people moment after the kitchen scene is so relatable 😂😂😂
I feel like the reason why I love watching y'all reaction vids to Tay so much cause it's nice to see a guy get it yah know??
ALSO if y’all look for it in the music video you’ll be able to tell they use blue and orange/red lighting to reflect cold and warmth and you’ll see the switch from to the other quite a lot!! All throughout the film they do it I love it I feel like it resembles him being cold and her being warm
THE WAY THEY WERE LOCKED IN FROM THE BEGINNING 🫶🏼
In the beginning of the film she asked him "is this real?" And "Are you real?" And at the end of the song she is repeating "I was there. I was there. IT WAS REAL."
