Who are you to deny greatness? If you would deny it to yourself, you would deny it to the entire world. And we will not be denied. GREATNESS AWAITS PLAYSTATION
I come back to this ad periodically. While it's obviously a marketing campaign, there really is a profound life message within it. Greatness for ourselves, greatness for the world.
“Who are you to be anonymous? You! Whose name should be spoken in reverend tones or terrified whispers.” That line gave me goosebumps even though I know what he means in the context of games being good or evil.
Even now, I come back to this ad every so often. This is, without a sliver of doubt, PlayStation's best promotional work. Whoever directed/created this should be hired or called upon more often to make more.
This ad still holds up. That speech man....gets you pumped up to not just play games...but also gets you feeling like you can take on the world. Excellent writing and marketing.
This commercial is a classic and still holds up well today...so much money was spent on bringing it all together...I love every second of it..and that tuxedo suit, shoes and inside shirt looks very very expensive...GREATNESS AWAITS !!!
So is it just me, or does anyone else think the world's greatest personal motivator here is supposed to be the Boss from Saints Row? It could just be the purple suit that makes me think that.
My favourite PlayStation advert OF ALL TIME...! (Also, this ad is filled to the brim with Easter eggs. Replay it over and over and I'm sure you'll spot new ones each time!)
This commercial is memorable for a lot of reasons, but two big ones: first, it embraces the strangeness of the video game medium. For all that there is a constant push to make games visually "realistic" and create "playable movies", games are stuffed with surreal ideas - when you stop to consider them outside the context of a game. Second, it demonstrates a certain attitude of intense confidence Sony's Playstation team had following the rocky history of the Playstation 3. Unlike the strange, abstract marketing for PS3 that tried far too hard to be mysterious - which was a sign Sony didn't actually have a clear vision for the product - the PS4 put "memorable experiences" front and center. Even in this surreal piece, a wide variety of authentic video game characters, concepts, play mechanics, and thematic elements are represented. And compared to the PS3, or its direct competitor, the Xbox 1, PS4 was surprisingly unpresumptuous. It wasn't pretending to be a multi media experience or the centerpiece of an entertainment center. It was just a game console. Even its aesthetic design was low, flat, and intentionally stayed out of the way - not drawing attention to itself.
These commercials give me chills everytime. Like the "Michael" commerical.. Especially when your a true gamer and care more about the Story rather than Online Multiplayer. I can't wait to see their commercial for promoting the Ps5. We will not be denied!!
There were never be another gaming commercial era like the PS3 era. This is when marketing was creative instead of playing it safe constantly like the old Atari & Magnavox commercials of the 70s.
I had never realized it but this guy was the lead character in the Disney movie Phantom of the Megaplex. I know it’s not a big deal but my mind is blown!
One of the best gaming commercials ever. "Greatness awaits! And we will not be denied!"
Then “Ps5 out of stock”

Same... weirdly inspiring/motivating. 👍👍😎😎

Watching this again after so many years... I can only say it's really held up to the test of time. Fantastic work.
Khyrberos maybe my all time favorite game console commercial. That was a helluva monologue.
Just about to say this. It’s unbelievably great. Love this commercial.
Still tops anything we've seen for PS5
Thank you! We film it in México City
2023 and is still cool!

i found myself returning to this over the years as well
This ad still holds up.

I'm pretty sure the writing came from Shakespeare or at the very least it existed long before this commercial or at least parts of it.
@@darkmyro Huh...interesting.
Well either way it's pretty cool.
@@darkmyro It reminds me of Marianne Williamson's A Return to Love :"Our deepest fear" passage more.
Decade later and I still get a chill from this monologue. I think it's the switch from you you you, to we.
I know it's just a commercial but I get chills every time.
This is my daily pep talk. It never gets old.
Mine too
Mine too

One person dislikes and denies greatness.

36 people denied greatness
They were denied greatness by Microsoft.
I love this commercial. I'm a writer and whenever I need a little inspiration...I watch this.
So is it just me, or does anyone else think the world's greatest personal motivator here is supposed to be the Boss from Saints Row? It could just be the purple suit that makes me think that.
fuck yhea men
The Shield should be in this commercial!
He is Joshua. Leading those who are lost from the former leader mosses in a realm of chaos..
I replace the “yous” with “I’s” but during my weekly meditation I always recite this speech for a self affirmation.
i love every second of this
I've watched this 100 times and I love it everytime
2020 - If you would deny it to yourself, you would deny it to the entire world. And we will not be denied. Excellent!
This is the most inspirational speech I've heard. It gives me more confidence, than any of my coaches ever did.
2021 I still say this to myself everyday.
It was a great announcement of the generation and it is the greatest summary of it. PlayStation truly delivered as promised.
My favourite PlayStation advert OF ALL TIME...!
(Also, this ad is filled to the brim with Easter eggs. Replay it over and over and I'm sure you'll spot new ones each time!)
I don’t know why, but for me, the classic “PlayStation” sound-bite at the end was the epic icing on this incredibly epic cake.

I watch this every time I think about...It never gets old, love this 👌🏻😁
For some reason this reminds me of Doctor Who
First saw it around the time it came out online, and had a few years without watching it at all. Great special effects work and crossover for 2013.
the speech is fantastic it really does boost your confidence in life itself not just gaming i saw this when it was released and now i'm back
This brings back memories
"Promised greatness, delivered more"
-astro's playroom, when you find the ps4

As someone who grew up playing Xbox this commercial kicks ass.
We need this crossover game based on this commerial on the ps4 and ps5
I was here before the PS5 Future of Gaming event part II.
Still probably the best commercial for video games imo
Still the best greatest PlayStation commercial ever
These commercials give me chills everytime. Like the "Michael" commerical.. Especially when your a true gamer and care more about the Story rather than Online Multiplayer. I can't wait to see their commercial for promoting the Ps5.
We will not be denied!!
I'm disappointed that they didn't make this into a PS4 game. I would've played it. It would be called "Greatness"
Greatness awaits in 2020
Yeahjy....awesome *brofist*

Anybody notice the dovahkin
Brandon Graham what time?
At 1:20
Can we get another commercial like this please
Jordan Abina brought me here.
Why does this ad make me cry?
Cool
First time I saw this I knew instantly that the PS would be the superior console! Have yet to see Xbox put out anything like this, before or since!
Commercials and ads don't mean anything. Just ask Sega
2020

Years later, it's still true.

Most epic commercial ever. I love this with all my heart 😁
