That was absolutely lovely to sit and listen to. I've just bought this guitar, I now need to learn to play it. Really enjoyed your style of playing although I haven't a clue where to start to learn to play in this style. Inspirational.
Always the best reviews! Sounds closer to the original with these strings. Will probably sound even better with Authentics. Somewhere between dread and ooo. Wonder if they had to change the depth due to the bracing change.
Hi Jarvis. I was looking for a small body guitar like this one for traveling, sofa playing, etc. I researched guitars like this one online for about a year considering Mdjr, various GS Minis, Seagull, Sheehan S series. I had hoped to find that “Diamond in the Ruff”. I even owned the first generation Dread jr. The sound was good but didn’t like the overall feel and the craftsmanship looked sub par somehow. What I found through an obscure comment was an S&P Woodland Pro Folk. It’s all solid mahogany, quality spruce top, and the craftsmanship and finish is like guitars twice its price point. I LOVE this guitar so much. It’s incredibly beautiful too like a Collings C10 and the Huss and Dalton Crossroads. If you get a chance, find one of these. You might not want to ever put it down.
Am I right that Jarvis said that the first-generation D-Jr often develops a bulging top on the lower bout and that Martin changed the bracing and narrowed the width to prevent this problem?
I am definitely buying this guitar. Been jumping back between this and the Martin 000 Jr. However the sound of the DJr 10 is more rounded and I can hear each string. What strings would you recommend? I know how to play but haven’t in quite a few years…so I need something easy on my fingers. Just playing for myself here. Also heard from other players that the first thing they did was switch out the strings. Thanks for your awesome demo!
Nice to hear a demo from someone who is an accomplished player that knows how to pull sound out of instrument. Too many reviewers out there that are barely past beginner level and really don't know how to show the potential an instrument has.
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore bought one a few weeks ago. Love it. Put bone saddle and Authentic pb 2.0 strings. Much better. Becoming my most played guitar due to comfort.
Hey it's me again! Hehe. Just wondering what to buy. The 000-10e or the djr-10e? Because it has almost the same scale length. Need your opinion again hehe. Thank you!!! :))
I heard at the end of your video you said you made some changes to make it sound better, what were these changes? I couldn’t understand what you were saying and I just bought this guitar and want to make the same changes to make it sound amazing like yours 💪🏽
Watching this back to back against the 1st gen review. Not sure if it’s the string gauge or difference in recording equipment but the warm tone/bass is almost completely dialed out on the the 2nd gen.
MARTIN DJR-10 or MARTIN DJR? I bought LX1RE one months ago, but it sounds a bit like ukulele, so i sent it back to the shop. DJR10 sounds brighter, but DJR sounds more like big guitar. I can´t decide, which one is better? What do you think? Thanks
Which do you think has a bigger tone the DJR10 or Big baby..or are they about the same? I can't find anywhere that has both to play side by side. Thanks Jarvis
I used to own a Taylor Big Baby and now I own a D-Jr 10, which has, at 70 with weaker arthritic hands, become my main guitar. There's no comparison between the tone of each. The Martin is bigger and much better. A more appropriate comparison would be with the GS Mini, which I also own. I have found that because of the D-Jr 10's superior tonal possibilities (to my ears anyway) I play it almost exclusively now.
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Thanks for the reply man! I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but how do you adjust the neck on a martin djr10...is there a screw somewhere?
I think I also have this problem. However, it only buzzes when I have my battery in the guitar. Should I see an expert or is there a way of fixing it at home?
Agree ....the "dred sound is gone" with the new models. I have 2 originals ....one natural top, one sunburst ....both Sound & play great. Why do companies change products that are good , work well , folks like them . If it ain't broke.....don't fix it !
AMAZING SOUND! i just bought it today. i liked it more than the previous model. It is more comfortable and clean sounding!
congrats and play it in good health

I have several tutorials on my channel of at least 8 of my songs ..look for it
Beautiful playing and great sounding! My DJR-10E is coming in a couple weeks!
Love your videos since 2011!!

The twinkle twinkle was beautiful!! Do you happen to have the tabs for that? I have never heard it played that way!
sorry no tabs as i dont know how to read tabs

The original DJRE has the 'Signature Martin tone'. This one doesn't. Even though it might be easier to play because of the lighter guage strings.
My DJr 10 (second generation) has the signature Martin tone in spades, so not sure what you mean.
Very nice demo and playing of this guitar!
thanks buddy

Are they still selling the original DreadJrs? All i see now are Djr-10s
I keep getting string buzz. I've tried raising the saddle but it doesnt make a difference. Any ideas?
its the neck that needs to be adjusted
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Thanks for the reply man! I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but how do you adjust the neck on a martin djr10...is there a screw somewhere?
Luke there is a hole just under the sound hole from
The fretboard extension.. you need a Long 5’mm Allen key time adjust it

Hello sir, do you know what is the brand and gauge default/stock strings in the DJr10e?
nbacoco Martin 12-54 silver one
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore thanks Sir. I thought the stock strings in the Djr10e are Retro monels 12 gauge... isnt it?
nbacoco yes retro
@@nbacoco Then why did you ask you foolish little twirp?
What is your favorite, Martin DJR-10 Spruce or Martin DJR-10 Sapele?
Hi Jarvis, great demo. Would you stick with the original monel strings or change them out for an Elixir?
I’m a lazy fella so I just fit the elixir 12-53 PB on her so the strings can stay for 6mths to12mths for me as I have many guitars to play
Hello Sir. May I know what size guitar picks you use?
.60mm
Which MARTIN DJR-10 sounds the best to your ears....the spruce top or the sapele top. Does the spruce top have a bit more
volume?
Tom E Muncey I prefer the spruce tone and also once it ages the spruce is pretty dynamic sounding
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Thanks! My guess is that the Sapele would have a more muted sound.
Tom E Muncey yes subdue and lower volumes but more mids
Hello does this model has a built in tuner? thanks
no tuner...at this price
Bought one a while ago good fun guitar. Play it when I'm drinking bourbon.
Great
djr-10e or lx1re?
DRJR10 always over the LX1re
Great 👍
Djr-10e or Taylor GS mini?
Djr, i have both
Have the original Dred Jr. . Tried several of the new models.......not the same. Don't hear the "dred sound " from a 000 body depth. IMO
Wow love you man

Agreed, the original version sounds deeper and less boxy than the newer version.
What's the name of the original dreadnought junior?
