Best comment about the power button. So true! The only downside is that once you drive a different car you always forget to turn the car off and to lock it 😅
You don’t use the power button, the car will turn off and lock when you walk away and unlock and power up as you walk towards the car. Unless you set to dog mode or set to leave people in the car they can work the AC and Audio.
Bjorn, can you make a standardized summary section at the end of your videos for those of us that don't have 40 minutes to spare? That way we can go to the end of each of your video and compare the numbers with other similar cars.
If the manufacturers spent just €200 more on a proper DAC and better sound padding around the existing woofers and tweeters, it would have sounded pretty good. But I guess they're trying to upsell to a more expensive model with a better sound system.
@@bjornnyland Then this is a real shop stopper for a city car like Smart #1! How to manage stop and go with I-pedal when you have nearly one second reaction time with every breaking? At the end of the day you will switch to low regen and use break pedal as like with fossil cars. Obviously nobody in China uses regen ;-) I have heard that Zeekr X has the same behavior, so I am not sure if this can be fixed by a software update.
Geely is just the group of brands. Mercedes designed and tuned it, Geely just brings a platform. I really don't know how good Geely Auto cars are as I've not seen reviews.
I think Tesla and also Polestar nailed the wattpedal response. VW, Kia and Hyundai has a irritating delay like they try to mimic a fossil car, it makes you feel a bit dissconnected from what the pedal is doing.
What I really like about my Ionic 5 is the immediate and linear response to the accelerator. The id 5 in comparison feels more like a diesel car with slower and less linear response. It's not as nice to drive, but still better than an ICE car. Those two are the only electric cars I have tried.
Agreed on the Id cars, even the Id4 GTX is delayed. Havent tried the Ionic 5 but Kona and Kia Ev6 and E-niro is not that linear and for example reacts slow when letting of from full accelerator.
I test drove one in the UK a few days ago and having seen a lot from various reviews about the regen delay, I was specifically looking out for it. I think they have already fixed it, I couldn't find any hint of it at all. We liked the car so much we've ordered one, it was so much nicer than the others on our shortlist (Niro and Kona; the Ariya, Megane, MG4 and ID3 didn't make the cut for a variety of reasons for us). The compromises we made on this are the small boot, slightly worse efficiency and fewer physical buttons, but everything else was waaay nicer. It's also a lot cheaper for us on a salary sacrifice scheme, around £360 per month compared to the equivalent spec Niro (~430) and Kona (~460). RWD premium - we don't need all that power or AWD in the UK, and the premium trim is the most efficient.
I should add that those prices include tyres, EU-wide breakdown cover, servicing, a home charger installed, insurance, second driver and are for a 4y contract with 7500miles/year
What I think of Mercedes (and Therefore Smart too) is that the interior looks cramped. There is this high middle console that curves around you instead of giving you more space.
41hp motor might not consume way less than 400hp electric motor. Motors are different than engines in this way. I agree though that there must be an option for lighter cars
Рік тому+6
I don’t think you even used the I-pedal setting (you never opened that menu). And this is the RWD, 272hp (you can really tell when you floor it, the nose comes up). Only the Brabus is 428 and 2 motors.
This isn't a Geely. They make the corporate platform which many brands contribute to. The brand designs over it. So Mercedes designs the car, does the shock and bushing tuning and so forth. Geely just made the platform and provides some electronics, motors. But this isn't a Geely car, it's just made in a Geely factory to Smart specs.
I think with the stoke you have the fastest way of starting to drive. When changing from Tesla, to Kona to MG you have there different „starting“ modes. Kona you have to push start, MG car starts when you select drive mode (so no „start“ button, and with Tesla it feels most convenient. Just push it down to D. How do you rate this Björn? There are so many systems to get rolling. Edith: Funny at the end you talked about this. So solved ? (:
The Chinese characters under the annoying washer fluid lid meant this car must have Chinese roots. According to Google, Smart is owned by Mercedes Benz, Daimler, and Geely. This might explain the comfort handling. PS The bridge console storage space would be appreciated by my wife for a purse place 💯 Lotsa love too all ❤❤❤
Seeing the tests of the Smart #1 it seems that it does not have great dynamics in relation to power, I hope that the ex30, which I have already ordered and will arrive in January, is better.
Every time when I saw the #1, I was worried about crappy european BEV technology. Now I know its BEV capabilities are from geely, I see it with a more positive view. Europe is so behind the BEV development, it is very bad.
