I found your UA-cam channel a few months and your videos and personality just align with mine in viewpoints, media consumption and life goals. Which is why I mean this sincerely when I say, if you ever need an editor, line or developmental, I'd love to work with you!
Ah! making creative ideas is my field! My best tip is to find something you like and just ask "what if!". that alone can create so many fun ideas! Im an illustrator and art director, my job is literally to be an idea generator. I've found that for me, art/writers block only happens when i don't have any ideas, so to keep that from happening i just force out some ideas, then relax, and in that relaxed, playful state, your brain will make so many fun ideas! Idea generating almost feels exponential, you just need some momentum. Though it might be easy for me to say, because when learning illustration you learn to look at everyday life and find things about it that might seem mundane at first, but in reality it can be pretty exciting.
I call lack of creativity as a writer “The Blank Phase” where you have so many ideas copy and pasted from other stories, that you see their unoriginality. This can’t be easy to get out of and where writers mostly quit, but we have to keep trying in order to reach perfection.
I always find inspiration watching the original Twilight Zone episodes, especially "The Hitch-Hiker" from season 1. So original, eerie, and atmospheric.
This video really spoke to me. I’m at a stage where many things feel uncertain (such as my future with starting college later this year as well as what to do with my yt channel) and this video has made me really think about what I actually want to make and use my creative energy on. Your videos are great and I thank you for making them.
Put this video in the bg as I was painting, cause I knew it would’ve saved me from any other videos I usually use as podcasts to get me to start drawing. And I was right! And you are right, every point is spot on, and I think I’ll carry what you said in my heart, as a reminder to why I’m feeling uninspired and how to fix it. Also I take the “sound like a robot” comment back, after hearing your promo voice I beg you to never turn into one of those hyperactive youtuber voices Logging off youtube now ✌️ Good luck with that book :]
The only thing that keeps me going through the pain of my wrist and knuckles is the beautiful art of Goodnight Pun Pun, the dedication of Oda Sensei, and the story telling of Naoki Urasawa. Along with that, every time I feel like slacking off, I remind myself of my limited numbers of days on this planet. Wouldn't like to leave this world and be forgotten in a generation or two of my family because I couldn't work hard enough to draw stories that changed the world in some way. I will try my best to get some free time and have a look at your work :D Great video, Scrit!

Oh, wait, everything makes a lot more sense now! I knew there just was something about UA-cam as a platform that was stifling my creativity, but I never quite got that it was the fact it's pure entertainment, instead of something i can chew on and think about on my own. This video's probably the one that's gonna push me even more towards diversifying my media diet like I've always wanted while possibly enriching an idea I've been ruminating on for a while. Very clear and concise explanation, I'm definitely putting this video in my website blocker's whitelist for whenever I need a refresher on what I Should be doing instead of just watching UA-cam (≧▽≦; )
But, you're in control of it. Simply filter what you watch or don't watch at all. Guess it's much easier to Simply blame something else fir our own shortcomings and bad habits or lack of will power
@@daffydlandegge3843 Hey, it's not that easy to say "just dont watch"! These platforms are designed to make you addicted to them, it's very hard to tear oneself away completely from them just by saying so And their design philosophies also make it hard to filter what you see in an efficient way, because they will still remember what you liked and are able to drag you back in with just a few videos (I'm a communications student at university, there are so many things that talk about these processes in my material) That said, it is the exact reason why I'm currently trying to avoid all platforms outside of short periods once in a while where I allow myself to relax a bit, but it's something to actively work on and where you have to be able to be merciful with yourself, you know?
This video was so inspirational, typically am just a critic of all of the art i love but now think that i really want to just make more, not only drawings, music or analogies but stories, series, models etc. thank you greatly, am in love with your channel ever since i found it.
Like, literally today, I found inspiration in Windbreaker! I was just expecting to have a good time watching anime with my family, but found myself analyzing the methods in which they conveyed information (without being dull or hamfisted ofc) while being remarkably simple. And I just...suddenly felt like I could create something fun and simple again. Like it somehow had been so like since I thought I could make something good without overthinking. Not to say that thought wasn't put into the show. But it doesn't feel Herculean to look at old work that needs a clean or work on my next chapter. Also solid video as always, my dude.
I didn't realise I was the exception... I'm always talking about my creative projects with my friend, I'm constantly inspired by things, and I don't really watch trend videos (which explains why I normally have no idea what this week's "drama" is 😅)
I mean sometimes you just need that one friend who will listen to you go on a 1 hour talk explaining the entire lore, world, storyline and describing every single character and their storylines
My desire to create as an artist was destroyed by how hard it is to learn at least something (i'm not able to do it at all, because i was born with a defective brain) and just do this stuff in general (drawing arts in my case) + perfectionism and inability to enjoy something i'm not good at + my mortality, i don't want to waste my precious and valuable life, the only one that i've got, on anything that will be lost in the end anyway so i'd better to simply exist and entertaining myself endlessly, this way i will not suffer (except it can't save me from my death)
1:42 kind of.. I think that might have recently happened but ive already forgot... 1:55 that one for sure. 2:50 oh I do that part all the time. When I have ideas... 9:28 Yeah I want to be a game developer and I should probably play more *games.* In specific I want to go over some of Scott Cawthon's older games. The pilgrim's progress is a must play even if im not too interested in the genre. And maybe I should re-play the desolate hope. 9:52 I like videogames with mechanics that are easy to get into but have a high amount of complexity if you engage with the simple systems in place. Especially when mechanics and complexity come seemingly by accident. Like in Celeste there's like kind of boost move you can use by launching yourself into the ground, giving you extra horizontal momentum. That type of thing that you can do throughout the game just because of how the mechanics work, but doesnt seem necessarily intentional, but can be explicitly used, its interesting. I also need to think more about narratives and how they are done and how they stick with me. 14:20 I really care deeply about the game Celeste. It also hurt me... I wont get into why... but it did. I really care about that freaken game man. 15:24 well lets see. I loved that the game had a narrative about facing an internal challenge, that was externalized by the game's setting. The gameplay then becomes a journey of the player facing the same external struggles as the protagonist, and in turn, in a sense, facing the same internal struggles. As the game was difficult, that difficulty makes you feel frustrated. But everything is fair, and its quick to restart, so you can always get back up, try again. And then every success has the same excitement that canonically the main character would be feeling. Your journey and the main character's journey are one in the same, in a sense. As I said I know the point where they messed up... And that was boxing in that narrative to one thing. Only one way to relate to it. Oh and making the story go on for longer than it needed to arguably just to do that. I guess the lesson is, just be honest, but also make it relatable to anyone. Dont box in the story to one valid interpretation. I just like metaphors I guess, and art that anyone can take something away from. When your message has that kind of... generality to it. It gets at something real no matter what your beliefs are.
A lot of yhose wroters were DEI hires and took the spot of real writers with actual talents... because they used to get federal handouts for doing so But as if recent, they cut that funding and now we are seeing the real feelings abour DEI hiring
My problem is that I'm too specialised, I can come up with an entire world, characters and long spanning story in a couple days or so and I've done it like more then 12 times, but once I have to put that story into words(that aren't my unorganized 100 page notes) I struggle, it reads like that one harry potter book that was basically just a script wich honestly makes sense because due to my imagination I've always visualised my stories as tv shows in my head
