Paul, let me begin by saying I absolutely love your affirmations at the end of your videos. They always seem to make me smile as well as provide positive thoughts…. Now for the content of your video well, all I can really say is BRAVO 👏, another job well done! You sir are the master of your craft, I can’t compare you to any one person out there. Thank you Paul for all you do, your undying respect and devotion shows in each video you post. Ok I’ll stop for now but just know, I’m riding shot gun on the next video you post! ✌️
Paul, you made a excellent video of the job you did both building and painting and then weathering your Tom Daniel Monogram kit of Rommel's Rod! Your video brought back fond memories of when I built this model kit as a kid many years ago. Rommel's Rod and Red Baron are my two favorite Tom Daniel model kits.
Aw, man, a shoutout from one of my favorite builders building one of my favorite model kits? I should be a lottery ticket. Thank you, Paul! :) Also, thank you for the tip on exhaust manifolds. That's a weak spot of mine so that tip is extremely helpful. You did a gorgeous job on this one. Glad you like the colored pencils. I agree chipping and dark rust are the best. I just got a second chipping pencil because I've be burning through the first one. They aren't the most intuitive tools, but the textures you can get from them when mastered is tough to beat.
Great build Paul, you being with the fire service and staying with the Great Tom Daniel you should do a build on the Fire Iron or Firebomb. Thanks for all the great tips.
Considering that Rommel lived on long after the North African Campaign in fact until he was forced to commit suicide in Germany late in the War, leaving the skeletons out is ok. This is my all time favorite model. I remember looking at it over and over again at stores and seeing it at just about every kids house that did any modeling at all. I never had the model but I always loved it.
I just bought that model and a couple others too, so coming back to your video for ideas but my build is going to be way different from your build. I’m glad you did this video it’s going to come in handy 👍🏻🔥🤘🏻
Love it Paul. I've been a hard core Tom Daniel fan since I was 3 or 4. I love every one of his designs, but the Red Baron is still my favorite. I've had a Rommels Rod I've wanted to build for a while now, but I want to go full hot rod with it, chrome wheels and all...except there was no way to chrome the wheels until recently. I even found a nice shimmery pearl/metallic tan for the paint.
Man, would I love to see that build! Suggestion, how about kit bashing to get wheels you like? maybe even a different engine? If you do this please share some pics with me!
@@pauly7218 I had the same thoughts about the wheels, but I want to stay true to the original design even though the kit is simplified. It has a charm that takes me back to being little. I do have the Monogram stock SSK engine that I might swap in. It's a little better than the original RR kit's engine. I might start it soon as Im wrapping up some long term builds now.
the level of realism you did is just amazing. as horrible as ww1 and 2 were the model kits of the vehicles were cool. I watch documentaries on a regular basis on historical events especially ww1 and 2. again great.job on the kit
Modern Day Salvage • I realized you commented a year ago but I just came across this video and read the comments. You may have found one by now but if not the stand you're looking for is from Tamiya. It's called, Spray-Work painting stand set, item # 74522*1500 and should be in about any hobby shop. I got mine at Hobby Lobby

Wow, that came realy neat! I have been using tablesalt for weathering
Salt is a tried and true method. It also gives a slightly different result, so it is nice to have several techniques in your arsenal....
