- I'm working on a painting of our old shed with a red sunset for the sky. Here's how it looks so far, and (excuse the mess!) here's a glimpse of me & my studio. It's one of our spare bedrooms that I repurposed for my office and studio.
My paints are made from rocks, clay, bones, and a couple of plants. Most plants aren't lightfast, so in general, I avoid them. But thyme makes a long-lasting lake pigment yellow, and Osage root bark makes an excellent light-fast orange. I'm not using the Osage in this painting, but I have used the thyme.
You can learn more about my art, the use of local pigments, and see life in general out here at Wild Ozark at my website: www.wildozark.com.
