‘raar’?
Ik denk dat ik ‘t juist kán uitspreken..? maar met een zuid-Limburgs accent. Niet goed voor Hollanders😅

Dank je wel, Kim! Ik kom uit Amerika en ik woon in Oregon. Mijn grootouders kwamen uit Nederland en mijn moeder spreekt Nederlands, maar ik niet. Nu studeer ik. De “ui” is erg moeilijk voor mij.
It becomes less "moeilijk" by listening to your lessons. Heel veel dank.
im just starting to learn dutch, and im so glad i found your videos. Legit amazing. keep up the good work 👌🏼
The Dutch words ijzer / ijzerwaren and ijs / ijsje / ijsco / ijslaag / ijsmassa / ijsveld start with IJ, and I think I saw a few more words with IJ - Dutch pronunciation is very easy, like English pronunciation, and the only words that are a bit challenging are a few words such as geheugen, because a word such as this one has many similar letters in the same word, kinda like the English word rural, so these are a bit harder to say, but not extremely hard tho, and definitely not impossible, they just require a bit more effort, so to speak, but the CH and the G aren’t the exact same sound tho, because G is a G-controlled H-like sound (approximant of H controlled by G aka a sound that’s right between G and H or a mix of G and H) and CH is a K-controlled H-like sound (approximant of H controlled by C or K aka a sound that’s right between K and H or like a mix of both) despite them being quite similar, but one can definitely hear the difference in Welsh words that start with CH because the K sound becomes more obvious when it’s in the beginning of a word, because CH also exists in Welsh, which kinda reminds of Dutch a bit, because of this sound and because it has a similar intonation / vibe etc and some words have similar letter combinations, such as afon / bedwen / helygen / derwen / mynd / nest / lolfa / telyn or delyn etc, while in the middle of the word they sound almost the same, so most cannot tell the difference between G and CH as they are usually in the middle of the words or at the end, and I’m not sure if Dutch has words that start with CH, because so far I have only seen words starting with SCH, but not CH!
I'm a new learner in dutch and after searching for many ways to learn it, really you are the best ever...thanks a lot
The best lesson I had , so easy, thanks Kim!!!!
I'm starting to learn Dutch and I love your channel . Best channel to learn Dutch 😊😊

Best place to learn Dutch! Really that's great that i start to understand more and more. Thank you Kim. Your are great! 🙏
Even have changed language in my phone on Dutch. That's insane 😅
A brand new dutch learner. Arrived in Halle(Saale) Germany on 24.02.2021. Need to learn Dutch very fast!
Hoi Khalid, you know that Dutch is not the same as Deutsch? We speak Dutch in The Netherlands, in Germany they speak German (which they call Deutsch) :)
@@learndutchwithkim Wow! I never knew. By the way, help learn Deutsch please!
@@learndutchwithkim we speak about 17 different languages in Germany. One of those is called German. It's an artificial language that the monk Dr. Martin Luther invented in the late 1500s. Most Germans struggle with that language.
I am shocked that the Dutch alphabet pronunciations are similar with Indonesian's alphabet pronunciation way. It's been such a fate to find your videos and learning Dutch excitedly!
I wonder why? !
@fwengsolutions because indonesian language is influenced by the dutch, that's why the pronunciation is similar
@@ishmetmuhibb590 Yeah, sorry, I knew that I was being ironic/sarcastic.
Because the Dutch colonised Indonesia for 350 years.
Great content, and delightful presentation. Thank you.
Such an amazing video... Luved it, Kim ❤️

You’re welcome!
you're so funny Kim!! so happy I just found your channel to learn Dutch. thank you so much for the lesson :)
Ahhh thank you, you're very welcome and good luck!
Hi Kim, I really like your Dutch learning videos and I will surely recommend your channel to my friends who are also learning Dutch! I think you are very creative to teach us the Dutch sounds by using the typical Dutch words! I think "negenennegentig" is really hard to pronounce, I always hear it from the TV commercials.
Thank you! I’m happy to hear that! Good luck :)🍀
And 888? Achthonderdachtentachtig?
Split it in parts like: nine and ninety: = negen en negentig
Acht honderd acht en tachtig = eight hundred eight and eighty
You are lovely!!! Thank you sooo much!
Hallo! this video is a very smart way to teach Dutch. Thank you and congrats...
This channel is amazing!!!❤🎉 I'm movimg to the Netherlands so it's really helpful
Adorable videos! I am already binge-watching ever since this morning. One thing that has always puzzled me ( excuse my ignorance or not awareness of ), but I was wondering if there are materials or resources for learning and practicing English phonics, phonetics, and pronunciation. Something like we learn English using transcription, just in this case for Dutch. That would be of great help.
Thanks a lot! Keep up the good work! I strongly believe this channel needs to reach more people!
Thank you😊 I’m super happy to hear that! Unfortunately I don’t know about these materials.. sorry I can’t help you there. Good luck and enjoy the rest of my videos!
So far the EU AND UI are the hardest for me to pronounce. They kind of sound similar but they don't at the same time. Lots of practice for me to do! Thank you for the great video, Kim! I really love learning from you! Dank je, Kim!
Goedenavond Kim. Ik spreek Engels, Duits en Afrikaans. Dat maakt het alfabet eenvoudiger. Bedankt voor de lessen.
You have been a great teacher ive been talking notes and doing duolingo to❤
I love so much ur teaching videos you r my Teacher I live in Belgium I wanna learn Nederland
The Amsterdam spelling part were super funny! Lol! It is what I hear often from people when I tell I am based in the Netherlands, and I have to explain a lot of things to change this mindset that is quite common. (I am from Brazil and a similar thing happens as well but with carnaval, soccer, Rio de Janeiro, etc.)
Olá irmão,tudo bem? Gostaria falar Holandese. TMJ
This way of learning alphabet is genius 🎉
Every thing , every pronunciaton very understable with very beautiful teacher Kim :))) For me does not has any difficult world.
Thank you Tuna!
Ma'am the despair in your face from the typical questions was out of this world =)))
Am so happy to join your channel
4:43 Hilarious 😁
"Jongen" is the one the trickiest for me (even in German Junge). I believe it's the "ng" sound combined with the following "en". Anyhow, you got yourself a subscriber to the premium course! Veel dank!
Hoi Zakaria, thank you so much! I am very happy to hear that! Good luck!

HI Kim, I shall keep practising, but even saying Van Gogh is tough at the moment...and Schipol, not to mention Vliegtuig :)
I'm really bad at the g/ch sounds I can only really do it when I talk loudly (and I'm a very soft talker haha), and the R sounds which are almost rolled as I cannot roll my R's at all! I will keep practising though :)

Definitely a better way to learn the alphabet ! :)

Hoi Kim, hoe is het? I find it difficult to pronounce 'leuk', always fail with the EU sound. Any recommendation on how to practice this sound? Dankjewel!!
my throat hurt a lot xD thanks for free videos.. really helpful to me.
I swear to god Kim sweetheart! I honestly think memorising all wor Dutch vowels are harder than wor consonants! XD For wor constants you only have at least two of them! XD For the vowels, so god damn many of them! XD
Yes that’s right!!
Dank u wel Kim. Goeiedag!

Mooie ogen , Bedankt Kim
i love your videos 🎉❤😊
too hard to start learning a new language @ 39 but I am giving it a try 😁
Good luck!
Being level 0 in Dutch I have problems pronouncing most Dutch words that have more than 1 syllable. However, if I look at your 7 famous Dutch words Schiphol seems to be the hardest to pronounce ( for me). The S is followed by the hard ch and then the p is followed by the h ( usually the 'f' sound in English). It does not flow naturally for me. I was surprised that the Dutch uu and the formal u have the same sharp "u" sound as in French. As a French-Canadian, I was happy to see (hear) that!
I like the sharp (and open, clear) vowel sounds also :)
Until maybe two years I pronounced nearly everything wrong (German) 🙈 I still find it very hard tonsay Schagen (the town in Noord Holland) and the ui and eeuw Sound.
(By the way: I do wear wooden shoos - klompen uit Marken in mijn tuin 😊🌷)
i love your videos 😊🎉😮❤
Dankjewel!
Dit is een erg leuke manier om het alfabet te leren uitspreken en te spellen. I practice my Dutch with Doulingo but I always have issues to pronunciate Vier, Vijf and some words with "w" like Wet (mijn moedertaal is Spaans). Heb je een video voor het "W"? ¡Abrazos!
Dank je! Ik heb er nog geen video over, misschien in de toekomst! Succes!
Wat zal de werld mooi zijn op die dag ? Is the translation on this what a beatifull world would be that day or what a beatifull world will be that day ? Thank you
What a beautiful world will it be that day!
dank u wel
Hoi Kim, Quite a different way to teach the alphabet. Just wondering how you missed "ijs" while talking about the "ij" sound. 😉. Bedankt voor de les🙏
Why should that be strange? Ijs is not really a very important word. It's not as if we're talking about ice the whole day!
Goedendag Kim ! Ik ben Aum. Leuk om kennis met u temaken. Ik kom uit Thailand. Ik woon nu negenendertig yaar in Chiang Mai.
Omschrijven was a word I've found awful to pronounce, but really any word with g or ch I struggle with. I feel I always have to raise my voice to get the correct sound, and it tends to sound really forced when I say it, but perhaps it'll get a little easier saying it quietly with more practice. Ui also feels like such a difficult sound to pronounce for me!
Hello :) can you advise me a online dutch-english dictionary which gives phonetic transcriptions? thank you in advance.
The sound I struggle with the most is the 'ui', funnily though, there's a tram station in Amsterdam which I also struggle with.... 'Hugo de Grootplein'. My mouth just cannot make those sounds all together without tripping on one or the other lol!
Ik ook! I always have to pause when I say thing with “uit”, haha. And every time it sounds a bit different….
Dit is 'n superleuke manier om het Alfabet te leren Kim ! Hard to pronouce: "Zeven Scheveningse schippers schuiten varen door de onstuimige golven van de Noordzee"
Dank je!! En wow, die is zelfs voor mij lastig! ;-)
Graag gedaan Kim ! Veel sukses met jouw unieke manier van mensen Nederlands te leren !
Hahah, I've been pronouncing Schiphol wrong for so long, but thanks for correcting me :) . I'd lived in the Netherlands for roughly six months during my Erasmus and I stayed close to Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena. It was difficult to pronounce this name at first :D .
Hallo! Ik ben Grieks en ik woon nu in België. Ik heb ook gewoon in Nederland, maar sinds ik heb het taal vergeten. I am now trying to re-learn the language, it will be very helpful for me. Please correct me if I am wrong, my syntax is terrible! 😅😂 Dank je for the videos!
koninklijke vlichtvaart maatsschappij
dank u wel voor dit woord
I always struggle with any phrase that has more than one "g". Takes me at least two tries to get it right(ish). I also have trouble with vowels, but I think that's more speech impediment related lmao. I needed a speech therapist just to learn how to speak English lmao. And I can barely say the english "r". Pronunciation is hard.
Yes, a lot of people struggle with the G and the vowels! Good luck with these annoying sounds ;)
Even if I listen to the "ui" sound on repeat, I still can't say it! My Dutch partner tells me to practice as much as I can and I still struggle. And ui is used in a lot of things - ui for onion (I hate onions so "zonder ui" is heel belangrijk!), uil, huis, muis and these are basic words that I can't pronounce correctly. I'm fluent in English, Indonesian/Bahasa Malay, Japanese, some Arabic (so the "g/ch" is ok with me) and Finnish (so no problems with "r" even though my native languages are primarily from Asia) but that "ui" is tricky. Anyone know what is the closest English sound for "ui" or in the languages I mentioned above?
Yes the ui is super hard. There are some nice videos on UA-cam with instructions how to make the ui, maybe you can find them under “uitspraak ui” or something like that!
Dutchies to be - Learn Dutch with Kim Thanks Kim! Will search!
Dank u 🌹🌹

Hello Kim, I have difficulty to pronounce the ‘R’ word. Maybe because I don’t need to roll my tongue in English and Cantonese Chinese. Is there any way and words I can practise to make my R sound better? TIA
It’s a hard sound, yes. You can watch my video about the R and G for more explanation:)
Hello - do I know you? Did you previously work at the Kindred Spirit store?
No, I didn't :)
Hi! This was a helpful video. What words are hard for me to pronounce? My two Dutch grandchildren stare at me with looks of utter bafflement when I say anything in Dutch. My Dutch son-in-law, has a tiny bit more success comprehending what I am trying to say but then looks skeptical when I make a second attempt. My daughter loves not being the worse Dutch speaker in the house.
Goeiemiddag Kim! One word i learned to pronounce is the liverpool football player Cody GAKPO.
Dank u :)
Graag gedaan!
Anything with UI is soooo difficult, like huis.. I'm trying to relate it to sounds I do know in my language and it does sound a bit similar like the letter combination äy/öy in Finnish
