The Full Story of Sylens - Before You Play Horizon Forbidden West

- There's a lot of moving parts in Horizon Zero Dawn's story, and over the course of its long runtime, the game weaves a captivating tale with many unpredictable twists and turns. And while Aloy is, of course, the one that the entire story revolves around, the character that proves to be the biggest driver for some of the most crucial narrative events in the game is Sylens.
Sylens is a constant presence in the game following his introduction a few hours in, and he always remains an enigmatic, mysterious character who constantly toes the line between enemy and ally.
He will, of course, be returning as a crucial character in Horizon Forbidden West, but before that, here, we're going to take a look back his story so far, and go over some of the most important beats that you need to be aware of before you dive into the upcoming sequel. - Ігри

Lance Reddick is an awesome actor. I hope they keep the character in the gray area, not a villain, not a hero.
@@mainkilla Some were based on their voice actors, others were modeled after specific actors, but voiced by different ones. Aloy, for example, was modeled after Dutch actress Hannah Hoekstra, but voiced by Ashly Burch. Many characters are kind of losely modeled on an actor rather than closely copied, like Erend and Nil look similar to the people they're based on, but they don't look nearly identical like Aloy or Sylens do.
An anti-hero with a hint of opportunist
When Sylens shows Aloy the Earth map, a few marks are noticeably flashing. SF was one of them. East Cost had a flashing signal too.

Sylens is "the heavy", like Darth Vader he's always gonna have the best moments. Not sure if he will end up as the main villain, but I guess HFW will cement his position as friend or foe to Aloy. Good vid, you touched on the important points without wasting time on speculations.
See, I do agree with that, but I also think that Sylens is also a little bit like Littlefinger from GoT. He's always after a personal end goal and will support who he has to, if he thinks they will get him to that end goal. So you can never tell if he really supports many of the plots that branch from his influence, or if they are just a stepping stone to get to where he wants to go.

@@itsdantaylor Sylens is more like Littlefinger in the books, rather than the show, only because we see so much more of his character in depth in the books (obviously - lol)
Strangely, Sylens is my favorite character, I’m glad that they didn’t just drop him.
The start of this video was amazing, I remember playing the game and reaching that part. I couldn't think of a way for Aloh to survive, but her being saved by Sylens came out of nowhere. Really good moment in the game, can't wait for part 2!

Sylens is one of my favorite characters. I wonder if any humans from the old world escaped Earth and their offspring are corrupting Hades.
I keep thinking some form of Faro is still present. He had the means to clone himself or download his consciousness into a machine

My theory is that Faro is still "alive" in some capacity and will be revealed to be the main villain. Sylens may align with Aloy to help take Faro down before he destroys humanity.

@@sladey21 Yeah, we never got proof he is actually dead. It was just assumed he died of old age in his bunker. He had vast wealth and resources to live as long as possible. Maybe he downloaded his consciousness into a machine? I really loved the story of Zero Dawn and hope Forbidden West expands on it. I'm excited to see where things go
I cannot wait for Forbidden West, it is so close now.
An important thing to note is that Ben mcaw said that hades recieved a hate from the unknown signal that wasn't there before and the unknown signal is most likely the red blight in forbidden west

I got this game when it came out for pc. The game is awesome but do not have a ps so I guess I'll have to wait another 5 years to see how it all turns out.

@@sladey21. I was thinking more in the lines of playing as Syles. His weapon arsenal and his involvement this time around in HFW. Kind of like playing as Yuffie in FF7 dlc.
The Frozen Wilds dlc had some more info on him yeah? (I’ve only played it once)

Dear Horizon Team, if Lance Reddick, rest in peace, must be replaced, please consider Giancarlo Espisito for the third installment. He has the Sylens personality in spades when it comes to acting.

Love this guy's voice acting since _Remedy's_ *“Quantum Break”* came out back in 2016. And love his acting from *"John Wick".* Reddick's really talented! Can't think anyone else as Sylens! His friggin name and that unique accent! He totally nailed it!

HOTTAKE: Ted's destruction of APOLLO is the reason why the glitch happened and the reason why the space ship was destroyed. Parts of the ship and parts of APOLLO are scattered in the west. Also, Sylens is going to repair one of the ancient farobots and transfer HADES into it.
Are you referring to HADES’ glitch or the faro plague? Because the faro plague occurred before APOLLO existed, and the mysterious signal was transmitted when Aloy was born, so it doesn’t make sense. Solid predictions otherwise

Aloy must be a descendant of Sobeck.
She's a clone, not a descendant. It's a long explanation but she doesn't have a mother or a father. She was made in a lab.

How do you go about pronouncing all their names differently just because? It says them in the game haha
This game is going to turn into an Assassin's Creed type of franchise, which is a bad idea if it heads towards such direction. The second game should be the last, as the notion of allowing access to newer abilities is just the producer's tactics to make the consumers purchase it; when they could've simply added all these abilities of swimming, flying & fast climbing in the previous game. The prototype included all of that for testing. But since it has a good plot a second game is not bad for a continuation of the story but not game-play. Especially when you must upgrade to get all the good stuff & you can only accomplish that through finishing side missions & errands, not only the main story.
More than likely a part 3 will come later down the line. Just like a 3rd the last of us.
Lance Reddick is the real star of the game. The gravitas and quality of acting he brings blows everyone else away....especially Aloy. It feels like a professional, acting opposite a high school drama student, in his scenes with Aloy. They really did the character of Aloy a disservice by not casting someone with the ability to sound competent next to Reddick.....the difference is stark and made me notice how bad Aloys voice actor was throughout the rest of the game.
I wish the sequel was just about Sylens. Its just a better character.....and he owns every scene he is in.
Hopefully he has even more to do in "Forbidden West".

Just got a ps5 would love to play horizon day one but 70 is too much for a single player game.

Just get the ps4 version. It is going to be 60 bucks, and you can upgrade for free to the ps5 version. So u save 10 bucks.

He was a sociopath who doomed the world. His arrogance caused massive damage and he wanted others to fix what he started. I think he's still "alive" in some capacity. He wasn't exactly all in on Zero Dawn and wanted to find another way to stop the plague.
