I just love how intense and epic the machines get in both of the Horizon games. I look at the bosses like this and in my mind I go back to the beginning of the first Horizon where Striders and Watchers seemed like a big threat at the time lol
I'd like to see it where the game engine allows the Machines to coordinate better. Let the game record data on Aloy's most recent tactics, and the engine will develop countermeasures to them. The whole swarm is synchronized in the final battle, but slower to respond (in-game it is explained that they spend their time talking to each other instead of purely fighting). But as Aloy destroys more of the Machines, the faster the engine can handle the remainders. Semi-Intelligent opponents, rather than enemies made of Hit Points.

One thing that would help out for the final boss fight, the battle makes the location more dangerous for Aloy. For example at 21:00 when Aloy is fighting Landra inside the Horus' head, she has to disconnect the original power cables. This results in the loose power cables we see later. I imagine that a fully functioning Horus wouldn't have any more weapons compared to the one we saw. It seemed more like a melee-based unit, so extra guns would obviously get in the way of that. What I imagine was that these machines were speeding, weaving bruisers. Its tentacles would be constantly whipping around with enough force to break the sound barrier, while its legs were constantly pumping to keep it charging through the battlefield. Note how the six legs directly underneath its body are on a separate torso, with 4 much larger legs attached to the upper body. This unique configuration would have allowed the horus to turn on a dime, snapping from one direction to the other with agility that utterly defies its gargantuan size. Its ranged weapons would obviously be far more powerful. The two auto cannons on top of its head would be shooting with enough force and speed to look more like a laser beam of pure lead. It's EMP ability would be amped up to a whole other level, able to purge entire battlefields instead of the immediate 400 feet around it. Lastly, though it is a bit of a stretch, the horus may have even had a railgun ability. Along its tail are two tentacles that seemingly serve only to support the tail. Even the purpose of the tail itself is unknown. It was likely ammo storage but could also be a key component in a hidden weapon. Perhaps by straightening its body and locking the joints, a horus could brace itself and focus all its EMP energy into a singular projectile. The tail could act as a tesla coil to concentrate the projectile, while the body as a whole serves as one giant gun barrel with which to launch the projectile. Again, bit of a stretch, but to see such a weapon bisect entire mountain ranges would have been a sight to see.
To see a horus start moving again, i can already tell if it werent so weak to heat and eroded by time, that thing would definitely live up to its history of being the destruction of earth

They didn't have to deal with thousands of Horuses but each Horus could make endless numbers of corruptors and deathbringers. Also the Horuses wouldn't have been overheating right from the beginning like this one since they wouldn't have been 1000+ years old.
You simply cant fault these games. They are absolutely brilliant. Its a pleasure to play such wonderful and extremely beautiful games like the Horizon franchise. Well done guys for providing such fun.
The one thing that lore wise bothers me about this boss fight, is how Aloy bascially beat a Horus by herself. In the audio logs of the first game, it would take squadrons of heavily armed soldiers, with the latest technology as well as heavy ordinance, to have a remote chance of taking one of them down. Meanwhile, she fixes a couple sticks together and brings one down by herself pretty much. A little BS, i expected her to need more help or get several machines to assist her.
To be fair, this Horus is thousands of years old, and evidentally quite damaged as a result, additionally, it has never that they and the rest of the chariot line were impossible to defeat, it was that they were being produced faster then they were being destroyed.
The PS4 would melt trying to render this thing, it literally wasn't technologically possible. Them being able to make this thing move and animate with a stable frame rate and no drops or crashes is insane.
A pretty damn fun boss fight. I just really wish the characters would have talked less during it and spoke with less of the typical millennial, "Uh, guys?!" kind of dialogue.
This was the main draw of the expansion to be fair. I don’t think any of the other final bosses (Deathbringer/Fireclaw/Sentinel Prime) were shown in trailers before
@@wr5488 honestly the Horus was supposed to be the final boss at the end of HZD. they ran out of time and had to improvise a powered up deathbringer. thats also why you get regular machine reinforcements in that battle. they probably planned this for the Horus to deploy.
My aloy was taking some hits on the sand battle sequence aswell it was like shit happening all around her...but hey wearing skimpy armour and using primative weaponry apart from the guantlet and finally taking down a 1000 year old giant rust bucket controlled by an immortal dooshbag was just another day at the office for aloy with help of her new found friend of course.
Man this fight was so incredible and for the first time you actually felt the fear people must have felt when they saw a swarm of these things. The scale, the sound and these tenticles, it all must have been horrifying. Sadly the rest of the game wasnt as good as this part.
Gotta say, after The Witcher 3, and the God of War-saga's, Horizon truly is the bést Franchise out atm in terms of gaming quality and experience: An incredible story, a wíde variety of characterbuilding, stunning open world, and absolutely magnificent monsters and Bossfights. This Horus-endboss seems quite over the top though; Its só massive, só powerful....yet it ha'd its weaknesses to exploit, and who other then Aloy to figure that out, exploit it, and defeat this nearly invincible monstrosity!
Strange. In the first game this robot was meant as invulnerable, capable of creating new cars of the chariot series on the battlefield, according to holotapes from Zero down she seemed invulnerable to any attacks, but here, they say in plain text "THE WEAK POINT THERE" . That's bullshitп
It’s because this Horus has been rusting for a couple of centuries and it’s running at the most minimal efficiency. Also in the past it was accompanied by Corruptors and Deathbringers. They were also armed with EMPs making any sort of getting close with tanks or anything electronic based was impossible
Lol how do you go into the HORUS fight without a full loadout of potions and such? No wonder the video had a "suspicious" cut while climbing the leg. The player died 😅
I hope the makers of Horizon know i am greatly appreciative for their work on this. This is one of the greatest boss fights I ever played. They manage to top themselves every time. It's awesome to know they're capable of that kind of dedication.

@@slvrcobra1337 those aren't normal arrows first off secondly she hit weak points. 3rd this is normal in not only fiction but video games in general. For a character to win against crazy odds or an OP enemy
Jesus CHRIST, watching this while nice, really, really makes me wish Aloy talked even half as much, I don't think there was a solid minute where she wasn't saying something or walter was saying something , just, shut up, shut up damnit. let me enjoy the music, the ambiance of fighting essentially a giant metal god. you don't NEED to make quips every 30 seconds for me to feel invested, shutting up and trying to kill me is motivation enough ya know?
I bought my PS5 just because I wanted to experience this boss fight. And I did. Safe to say, it was a challenge (Very Hard difficulty, may attempt Ultra Hard soon) but it was also super fun and exciting. I'm glad I did a manual save right before that so I can replay it over and over again 😂
With all the lore bent around these machines you would figure it might start to dissolve the shrubs and greens on it. Even then Horrus was described as a mobile factory. I understand it has to be able to be “Beaten” But beyond a miracle this battle shouldn’t of even gotten past maybe 15 seconds and it would of started pumping out machines the second it booted up.
The horus was not at full capacity for a few reasons: - it is 1000 years old and damaged - the 3D printer was depleted from manufacturing the rocket for londra to escape
As always, gameplay was enjoyable and satisfying, as well as boss fights. Lovely finishing touch with Aloy x Seyka and the heart to heart that. “Home is not a place, but the people you want to be with.”
This dlc, more specifically, this boss fight is the first time it really like it's next gen. Not a prettier last gen game. Especially the underwater chase. My old ps4 would have vaporized
Just shoot the weak point and Dodge... Not really hard you should have like unlimited resource if you get to this point After complete the base game. I found the boss really Easy, visually Amazing, but gameplaywise the same stuff as always
Swap Aloy with Commander Shepard, the Horus for Harbinger and Londra with The Illusive Man, and you have the ME3 final boss I would've loved to see back in 2012.
And that fight I think it's the main reason why Guerrilla didn't bring the DLC for the PS4. It's just to many particles, effects, movements and explosions happening at the same time. Probably it wouldn't look great or at an desirable quality in the past generation.
Whats crazy is the Horus probaly "primitive" tech compared to what the zeniths had with them before nemesis took control. Horus sized specter tentacle robots.

damn, Aloy kinda looks like a young and chubby Lisa Kudrow in the cut scenes. kinda weird that Aloy was able to beat a Horus on her own but entire armies and militaries and future tech couldn't. then i remembered that Project Enduring Victory got rid of alot of abled bodied fighters even before the battle even started. hopefully she could work out how to use another Horus in the next game so it can battle Nemesis.
Wooo! Saved myself 20 bucks and a lot of time by watching this. I thought the Horus fight was rather lackluster and the "moment" with Seyka didn't feel earned. Aloy is never really romantic and if I did have to imagine her ending up with someone, it'd be with Erend.
Exactly. He also feels forced, they barely know each other and they already want to put romance between them. It just doesn't work like that. So if aloy fell in love with someone it would be erend, for the time they have been together, a bond that justifies the feeling.
That's true Erend is deserve more than just a thanks, im kinda feel sad for Erend after he knowing that Aloy "kisses" a stranger girl who is literally just met.. rather than him who is always stood on the edge of death by aloy side in the first and second game.. i mean he's a loyal companion for her, its just difficult to find a someone who actually loyal to aloy as he is.

@@riohudson9612 Nice description, that's terrifying.
I just went through Burning Shores and Jesus Christ, Horus Fight Soundtrack Make Me Goosebumps
To see a horus start moving again, i can already tell if it werent so weak to heat and eroded by time, that thing would definitely live up to its history of being the destruction of earth
The soundtrack, the buildup, the presentation, all of it was mostly immaculate aside from some technical hiccups and clunkiness. Other than that, this was worth the 20 dollars for me. Don’t know about everyone else.
Some People think it isn’t worth it cus Aloy is a lesbian it triggered all the snowflakes, it literally gives you the option to make her a lesbian or not and people are offended for that. But overall I think it was worth the 20 dollars.

I was a little underwhelmed by the amount of side and main quests, but this Horus fight made me want to throw my wallet at Guerrilla. Have my money, this game is insane. The soundtrack at 8:00 😭
@@dafuq6413 Gildun is back but I honestly expected more. Frozen Wilds had more side quests. But I think Guerilla was betting on the fact that we might spend hours swimming in deep waters with the Waterwing lol

Takeing down one was touch can only imagine the world and them haveing to deal with thousands of those things all at once
This robotic monster reminds me of the Omindroid from The Incredibles.
It’s that but on steroids
"IT'S BIGGER, IT'S BETTER... MY MY IT'S... APPARENTLY NOT TOO MUCH FOR ALOY TO HANDLE?! WHAT THE F**K?!?!"
-Syndrome (probably)
The one thing that lore wise bothers me about this boss fight, is how Aloy bascially beat a Horus by herself. In the audio logs of the first game, it would take squadrons of heavily armed soldiers, with the latest technology as well as heavy ordinance, to have a remote chance of taking one of them down. Meanwhile, she fixes a couple sticks together and brings one down by herself pretty much. A little BS, i expected her to need more help or get several machines to assist her.
To be fair, this Horus is thousands of years old, and evidentally quite damaged as a result, additionally, it has never that they and the rest of the chariot line were impossible to defeat, it was that they were being produced faster then they were being destroyed.
it was overheating and ancient (Walter sucked at controlling it too)
@@cupcakes6919 Not to mention the Horus is typically controlled by an AI, not a human.
@@icy1172plus it couldnt make deathbringers for some reason

A pretty damn fun boss fight. I just really wish the characters would have talked less during it and spoke with less of the typical millennial, "Uh, guys?!" kind of dialogue.

Last time Guerrilla did a massive walking death machine boss fight was the MAWLR from Killzone if I recall, nice to see they've still got it.
I’m so sick of games putting their final bosses in trailers it makes the bosses lack impact
This was the main draw of the expansion to be fair.
I don’t think any of the other final bosses (Deathbringer/Fireclaw/Sentinel Prime) were shown in trailers before

honestly the Horus was supposed to be the final boss at the end of HZD. they ran out of time and had to improvise a powered up deathbringer.
thats also why you get regular machine reinforcements in that battle. they probably planned this for the Horus to deploy.

"friend"
HAAHHAHAAHA THIS GOT ME
I mean Aloy is just THAT girl
Can't imagine how people fought multiple fully functioning Horus's during the Faro Plague.
I got the chills fighting this I was actually afraid like- how did the old civilians feel
that boss fight was cool and impressive, and then came FFXVI's Titan boss fight.
Man this fight was so incredible and for the first time you actually felt the fear people must have felt when they saw a swarm of these things. The scale, the sound and these tenticles, it all must have been horrifying. Sadly the rest of the game wasnt as good as this part.
The Horus is kinda cute. Look at it. Beeping and booping. Destroying things. 🥺
I wish there would be tv series about last battle against the Faro Plague and the second story line about the Zero Dawn Project.
It's planned
Gotta say, after The Witcher 3, and the God of War-saga's, Horizon truly is the bést Franchise out atm in terms of gaming quality and experience:
An incredible story, a wíde variety of characterbuilding, stunning open world, and absolutely magnificent monsters and Bossfights.
This Horus-endboss seems quite over the top though; Its só massive, só powerful....yet it ha'd its weaknesses to exploit, and who other then Aloy to figure that out, exploit it, and defeat this nearly invincible monstrosity!
This by all means is one of the best Boss Fight I have ever encountered. Awesome.
For instance felt like an war in Avenger's Endgame :)
Man, I'm so envious of anyone that has a PS5 rn, please enjoy this game on behalf of all PS4 users haha.
I hope the makers of Horizon know i am greatly appreciative for their work on this. This is one of the greatest boss fights I ever played. They manage to top themselves every time. It's awesome to know they're capable of that kind of dedication.
SAM WITWER is the final boss controlling the Horus.
Darth Deacon strikes again
Pretty absurd to think any human being could ever survive such a fight, but still pretty freaking cool.

Safe to say, it was a challenge (Very Hard difficulty, may attempt Ultra Hard soon) but it was also super fun and exciting. I'm glad I did a manual save right before that so I can replay it over and over again 😂
Banger. The fact it looks this good and runs this well is just insanity. The devs really are artists.
The horus was not at full capacity for a few reasons:
- it is 1000 years old and damaged
- the 3D printer was depleted from manufacturing the rocket for londra to escape

If it was me I would have brought his body I want that special armor they wear I’d take him and then take it from the corpse

This is literally f**king insane 😍

11:38 Horus guns go brrrr
How's it lackluster
That's true Erend is deserve more than just a thanks, im kinda feel sad for Erend after he knowing that Aloy "kisses" a stranger girl who is literally just met.. rather than him who is always stood on the edge of death by aloy side in the first and second game.. i mean he's a loyal companion for her, its just difficult to find a someone who actually loyal to aloy as he is.
@@Dontforget-nd6ux Yeah, it feels strange because with Erend they have been building their relationship and interactions throughout 2 whole games. This just doesn't feel earned somehow.
