20:30 - Yes, Wolverine was shot in the head, but the bullet didn't penetrate his skull. Remember, his bones are covered with adamantium, which a regular lead bullet can't penetrate. However, the impact of the bullet probably knocked him out for a minute, which is why he fell to the ground.

    • @SirChaosS

correct. he suffered a concussion from the bullet impact, which knocked him out, but his healing factor expelled the bullet and recovered from the concussion thus waking him up.

Also, I think she got the events of the first X-Men movie reversed: in the mansion, she was stabbed by Logan's claws and only by absorbing his powers briefly, she temporarily gained his healing powers so she could heal her wounds. And at the end of the movie, he healed her by touching her unconscious body, again allowing her to steal his healing powers so she could recover. She doesn't have healing abilities; she just stole them from Logan twice. If Wolverine is injured in combat, the best thing she can do is actually stay away from him, so his own powers heal him.

The Nightcrawler/Mysique interaction was something of an Easter egg for fans of the comics. In the comics at the time Mystique had been revealed to be Nightcrawler’s biological mother several years before the X-Men films started coming out, so that was a fun little interaction for comic fans. As comics will do though it has continually become a more and more complicated backstory between the 2 having recently reached a new level of complication.

Chris Claremont, one of the Marvel writers who had a big input into the X-Men, has a huge thing about TH White's 'Once and Future King'. He saw Prof X as being like Merlin collecting knights together for his crusade for mutant and human co-existence. This kind of segued into Xcalibur, which had even closer ties to the Arthurian legend, as Captain Britain was created/mentored by Merlin. The link to Xcalibur is that Kitty Pride is among the students listening to Prof X - I think she rushes in late through the closed door earlier in the scene. Kitty later becomes a member of Xcalibur as Shadowcat.
An Xcalibur movie would be difficult because Rachel Summers aka 'Phoenix' has such a complex back story. The didn't even touch her for the New Mutants movie, despite the story that they adapted originally being her debut.
There are hints that they're going to bring in Captain Britain at some point, and not just as a 'What If?' Peggy Carter Multiverse clone.

You had a great idea, but Bobby's just a kid in this movie. He doesn't have the kind of control of his powers yet to freeze all that water. Love how you think, though! 😊Really, most of the ways one can kill a vampire, one can kill a person with super fast healing abilities. Chop their head off, fire, a stake through the heart (and body) that isn't removed... as long as you do something where they cannot heal fast enough to keep their brain from dying, then they're toast. Logan filled her full of metal; she couldn't push it all out and heal in time to fix that. It's a great power, but not an invincible one. I think all powers have their limits in the X-Men universe, but being able to counter them can be very, very difficult. Lol. Loved your reactions! Fun watch. 🥰

Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) is my favorite X-Man. I used to tell my friend who worked at the comic book store that and he was a little confused and was like "Why? He can teleport, but how is that useful?" I'd just shake my head and then we went to see this and the beginning where he takes out all of the Secret Service guys and almost kills the president and he turns to me and says, "NOW I get it." I said, "Told ya he's cool." Some more facts about him, 1 with his skin color, he's virtually invisible in the dark, except if light catches his yellow eyes. He can climb walls and ceilings. He has a tail that he can use as a fifth appendage. When he disappears and reappears in that puff of smoke (which they always wrote the sound of it as BAMF!) they say there's the smell of brimstone. So, he'll appear in a puff of smoke, smelling like brimstone, looking like a demon without horns, but he's the nicest most polite person ever. Granted I'd told my friend all that stuff too, but he still couldn't see it until he ACTUALLY SAW it on screen. 😁

32:07 There is another teleporter at the Xavier school. She is a British girl named is Lila Cheney. She looks perfectly normal and has a public identity as a rockstar.
Whereas Nightcrawler can only teleport a few miles at most. Lila can teleport herself and others across interstellar distances. She can literally teleport to other planets and solar systems. Her one limitation is that she can only teleport massive distances so the small types of jumps within a building that Nightcrawler did she can’t do.
Nightcrawler also can only teleport to somewhere he has been or can see. Lila can actually teleport to wherever her voice has been heard. So if someone on the other side of the world is listening to one of her songs she can teleport there.

Stan Lee created The X-Men during the height of the civil rights movement in the 60s. And it’s no accident that it carries messages like “Don’t fear or hate someone just because they’re different from you.” And “They’re probably not as different from you as you may initially think.”
And although he’s never spoken about this, I think there’s a bit of “Push anyone far enough, and they will eventually start to push back.”

"The Once and Future King" by TH White is essentially a retelling of some of the tales of King Arthur, written mainly for children. If I remember correctly, Disney's "The Sword in the Stone" is loosely based on it (or at least claimed to be). Not entirely sure of its relevance to the movie. (Or even if it has any!) 🤔

Your questions about his origins are answered in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"! Initially, each character was meant to have an origin movie, but it failed to happen. Apparently, the number of girls and women who enjoyed seeing him streak wasn't enough to override the negativity from the boys! 😮

Unfortunately Bobby Drake/Iceman is still just a kid learning to master his powers and even if he did master them, it's debatable if he could have stopped the water.
Jean who has had much time and experience with her powers was still struggling to keep the water at bay for more than a few seconds.
I'm not sure if you noticed in Jean's closing monologue at the very end of the movie that there was some kind of shadow beneath the water. All the while she was talking about how evolution leaps forward. Couple that with the scene right before where professor x senses something, smiles and says he thinks everything will be alright.

One thing to keep in mind (since you said Wolverine is 'healing himself' from the cigar burn and asked later if Rogue still has 'healing powers' when he got shot). The healing is only on the person themselves, IE Wolverine / Rogue couldn't heal others. And... it is involuntary / always on unless Wolverine is severely weakened (like the end of X-Men 1) or severely wounded. Like if he got cut or shot a bunch, the 'healing factor' - what they call it in the comic - might triage to vital organs first, then bleeding, then superficial skin wounds. And some stuff, like losing an eye, might take awhile to recover from - likes days to weeks. Not sure how his teeth work, but I assume they grow back if knocked out.

The Once and Future King is a collection of stories about King Arthur (short answer).
Mutant powers have localized limits, except for a few as you will see in X3. That's very likely well beyond Bobby's powers to freeze all that water. Charles & Magneto have larger limits than most.

Jean Grey is not dead. She's always been a little afraid of her power because she is the most powerful mutant. In the comics, Jean turns into the Phoenix. You saw a glimpse of the Phoenix flying above the water at the end of the film. The problem is with so much power that she may be out of control. -OG
