- How to go clamming, crabbing, and fishing from a kayak in Tillamook Bay! In this video I share a day on the water harvesting a seafood feast from my kayak. It's fairly easy, safe with the right know-how and gear, and best of all, you get to take home a bunch of delicious food!
The most important part is getting the timing of the tide correct, which I discuss. If you're kayak fishing, you also need proper immersion gear and experience self-rescuing.

Good times. I'm having my wife watch this. I think she'd enjoy it. Great vid.
Thank you! It could be a good opportunity this holiday weekend with the daytime minus tides, but watch the wind forecast. Hope you're able to make it out.
Another awesome video! Well done.
Thank you!
Another great video full of good info! Looks like a delicious bounty.
Always great videos! I’ve always pumped for gapers. I find Cockles in knee high water on ridges/shelfs and just step until I feel a softball under my feet.
Is crabbing in the bay any good late may thx love the vid looks like a cool bay
Excellent video! That intro new? Love it!
For what it's worth, I'd also have kept that rockfish! I thought it was like, a medium-ish size.
Thanks man! Yeah I've been playing around with shorter intros that are specific to the fishery I'm talking about. I don't know if I'll keep it up, though, it's too much work :)
Thank you you were fishing on my home away from home. Do you guide?
No guiding ambitions so far. Maybe when I retire from my day job :) Thanks for watching!
Captain Redbear,
What's your advice clamming in August?
Clamming can be good any time of year, the important part is just that the tide is low enough that you can get to the clams. Check the tide tables and look for minus tides. Good luck!
@@CaptainRedbeardsAdventures thanks!
I aspire to one kayak fish here one day. Im curious if you were in the narrow jetty part or back in the section where it hooks south. Crab rock seems like a good spot to fish?
I was fishing the south jetty wall along the section where the jetty runs NW to SE. Just make sure to watch the tides, because the "pinch point" between there and the main bay can really rip on an outgoing tide.
@@CaptainRedbeardsAdventures you rock! Thx
Where is the exact location?
For the clams, head out to the islands at low tide directly out from Garibaldi Marina. There are lots of good places to catch crab - try adjacent to other crab pots to get started. The best fishing is at the jetty. I was fishing the south jetty. Hope this helps!
