This is truly one of the best coin videos I've ever had the privilege of coming across. When I was in the beginning stages of my coin collecting, people were telling me that my first finds were nothing but damaged coins or coins that weren't worth the time collecting. But I'm very happy to say that I didn't pay them any attention and now I have an extremely nice collection. To give you an example. One of those coins in my collection is a 1977 d, with the d being totally filled, having no center, copper quarter, without the outer clad layer. That one I didn't find in my coin roll searching but received it in my change from the Walmart self-checkout register. I also have a 1946 nickel. Somehow the planchet that puts out the die, created an error coin. and instead of the date being 1946, it reads 19A6. So, thank you to everyone that took part in making this video.

I will have to go back and look for it, but I found one of the older nickel’s with a Capital D in his head. I’m new to this please be patient with me, I have a lot to look through, so I put it with the other keepers. I don’t have the correct magnifier yet, but trust me, I can see them. Thanks everybody for sharing your stories, it helps a lot

Fyi i realized yesterday that i had a 1946 nickel in my car for the past yr... I looked it up last night = it was a transitional yr after the war nickels of 1943-1945 AND may be worth tens of thousands of dollars! But a professional needs to use a Ray Gun to determine if it was minted w/silver planchet = not all were = both versions weigh the same due to however they minted it. So, i wish you & myself the Best of Luck🙌

Yes to both questions. I found a 1999 Delaware quarter that read "The First Stat" on the reverse. The "e" in state was missing. I took it to a senior grader at one of the major grading companies and was told it was probably from grease left in the die after a cleaning and was worth $2. I am keeping it just the same. Thanks! 👍

I have never found an error coin. However, I found a '99 S dime that to me looked very shiny-so I stuffed it in my pocket and showed it to a few local coin places- all of them said it's pretty but Worth only 10¢. The last place I went to-- told me something very diff. They told me I had a very High PR grade SILVER 10¢ piece. They helped me send it off for grading. PCGS sent my coin back, slabbed as a PR 70 SILVER! It's not a life changer but it's Worth more than the cost of grading so that's pretty cool, no? Love you guys

I have a lot of new and old circulated quarter's and it's amazing just how many have a minor error. Or double die rim and planchet cracks and I've had some that are obvious errors and some that you really really really have to look and sometimes I just think I'm imagining it and I've asked some people that are experts about a few coins. a couple have said about a coin or two oh nah that's just after mint damage it's like a full-time job going through your coins ( after roll hunting OR just getting interesting change at stores) weighing examining them then on top of that looking up information and history on certain mints and dates and what coins to look for errors excetera excetera . And I have a lot of BU collecting but I also get in roll hunting moods and I think I am addicted to Quarter's,Lincoln memorial circulated and BU COINS ! Lol. It's easy to buy a mint set or Proof set break it up (wearing jewelry examination gloves course) and rating them are easy! But rating a error coin and getting the courage to slab and send it out. Fearing it comes back a dud so I totally feel you on that point I also have a bunch of really nice toned and discolored quarters and Lincoln Memorial cents the quarters that are toned and the Lincoln Memorial cents summer red Brown some are blue blue red purple I got them in a book just a blank Myler Style Penny book for some reason people love those the Beautiful and they're all one-of-a-kind because you never see the same one twice they're all like rainbows LOL

WOW and OMG!!! I’m so excited now!! But NOW what do I do?? I’m almost completely clueless about coin collection except for bicentennials and pre-1965s… and even for those I still don’t even know what I’m supposed to do with them besides keeping them all in a separate jar….. I just started going through one of my huge change jars and was watching coin vids while I sorted out mostly just quarters. I know that 64 on back is good so I was just separating the state coins separately from the rest. I’m barely scratching the top and this vid comes up. I have THREE of these Virgin Islands ones already and I am SO excited now… YAY!! But NOW what do I do?? Also the print you talk about is so very small I can’t even see it… I don’t have a loupe. I just have excitement!! Thank you so much for making this silly chore so exciting and also for the happiness. Much love and blessings to you 💜💜💜

You'd be hard put to find anyone to give you anything worthwhile for this pitiful example of an 'error'.

And yes time and time again I've carried coins that I have thought were errors to my local coin guy and he has basically shrugged them off or he either acted like he didn't have the time

Yes I'm afraid there is so many varieties and small imperfections that are called "errors" in the hobby today that most older dealer's find uninteresting only the bold double dies like the 55dd ,09 s vdb are considered valuable the tryed and true over time

I don't fool with local coin shops, it's a waste of time. I hunt coins and I can sit on them if I want to. I'll sell them raw at the flea market to other collectors for cash. If they know what they are looking for they'll pay a fair price. I don't have time or patience to divulge my knowledge and I'm definitely not desperate for money. I don't mind leaving a lot of meat on the bone for them to make some profit too, It's good not to be desperate. 😊

Nice to run across this video. I've loved the family coins we have that just got passed to me two years ago. I cataloged them and sent an email to idk who anymore but either a grader or auction house, who stated I have nothing worthwhile. Yet watching all these videos online state that I've coins from $2 upwards of tens of thousands. But it was that disappointing response that made me put them back away until recently. I've always been curious on multiple just to get a grade for fun and perhaps future reference. I'm thinking once again about just going for it, still trying to put negativity out of my mind and just enjoy them, regardless.

Check out you State Quarters, some can be worth ALOT.
If coin collecting gives you joy than that's worth more than money.
Lowell State coin, Connecticut, Kanasas 1861 with the Buffalo or Bison, look for a real high back, both are sort after. Goggle State coins and have fun.
I found a 1972 Liberty Quarter with a small round dot where the min mark should be. I was told there were no error 1972's, yeah well I have one and will get it checked out soon. It would be fun to do like the dude it in this video it.

This hobby is the first hobby I've had that I have broke close to even on.
I have found a few that I consider possible errors but haven't confirmed any as of this time.
Perhaps one could spend more money grading those that actually are identifiable by the novice and actually lose money rather than enjoy the hobby by spending more aquiring coins to enjoy.
Thanks for sharing the information and the enthusiasm for the hobby.
The pleasure from this peaceful hobby is the eggs from the golden goose.

You said something right around eight minutes into the video that i was glad to hear. I myself have shown coin's in community groups i will leave unnamed, however was supposed to be one of the top grading groups. One of the man guys went on to say it was after mint damage. Then right after him another guy said it looked as if a tornado touched down on the coin at the top and made it's way south. He then recommended me to give my coin to the previous guy for analysis. I guess these guys work together to try and find fools, however i am not one. I love watching your channel and one other that i subscribe to because i continue to learn new things. Variety Vista has been a big help when it comes to comparison of variety coin's and i believe i just discovered a new variety which isn't on his list. I have also saved your link where you have coin's for sale, therefore soon to make a purchase. Sorry that the comment was so long but you was dead on when you said get more than one opinion and don't just go off what the first person says in some group. I know what you do is very time consuming and i thank you for your informed knowledge, therefore i will always be a subscriber to your channel.
