Crash Bandicoot 1 100% Speedrun in
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 лип 2024
- So in December I set out to improve my 100% time from 1:21:25. At first I was thinking sub 1:20 would be a reasonable goal but as I was getting better times I couldn't get a run without deaths and other miss haps. Here on August 1 I managed to get this run which is really solid. I suppose this is appropriate because in August last year I got my 1:21:25 so one year later I'm finally to this same point.
This run is still mildly improvable. I had a box glitch in Whole Hog that cost 31 seconds. Its an unfortunate, late run glitch, this is completely luck based on whether you'll encounter it or not. Basically you charge through a box while on the hog and it doesn't register as being broken. Other than that there were only small 1-4 second mistakes here and there throughout the run costing about 15 seconds. Movement also wasn't pristine. This was my fourth run of the day so I probably lost 15-30 seconds over the entire run compared to my best movement ever. With perfect luck and ideal movement a 1:17 is definitely plausible but at this time I'm not feeling motivated to achieve that run.
I will definitely keep doing runs of Crash 1 100% for the time being but not nearly as focused as I have been over the past 6 or so months. I would like to at least 'stay in shape' so that I could potentially run this at AGDQ 2014, but we'll see if I'm able to make it as well as I make it onto the schedule. Feel free to follow my live stream at www.twitch.tv/caneofpacci if you wish to keep up with my endevours or here on UA-cam as well. I'm kinda hooked on Frogger atm but its a great game! - Ігри
You know that he is serious when he leaves extra lives behind.
I mean it's not like he needs them lmao
Nsanity167 true lol
You can’t die in a speedrun
instablaster...
this game and spyro = best childhood

What about gex ?
Ratchet and Clank And jak and daxter great games as well
The Truth my little cousin ask for me to get him crash n sane trilogy instead of v bucks or another game
Very impressed. This is the hardest crash game out of the first three, in my opinion.
It is ... I platinumed out all 3 warped was easy csb was ok this was a nightmare though ...
Definitely.
I found 2 more frustrating.
@That guy who's Irrelevant and old news really?! With crash 2’s improved controls, improved system of getting gems (I.E. not having to literally perfect each level) and the new moves, crash 1 always took everything out of me after I would 100% it. The only time I ever felt crash 2 was frustrating as during the ice sections. It makes 0 sense that you would hit a box, then carry the momentum after you jump, also, I know it’s common in a lot of games but ICE PHYSICS SHOULDN’T EFFECT HOW YOU MOVE IN THE AIR!
@@gladiatoranimator3088
I don't like the excessive backtracking, some of the enemy placement grates on my nerves, and the wave board is the most unintuitive controlling jet I've experienced in a game up to this point. While the control is improved, it's not perfect. Crash's momentum in the air is pretty inconsistent as sometimes you'll have to gradually build it up, or you'll still have the momentum intact when pressing the D-Pad. It makes landing on some boxes needlessly difficult at times, and can result in some cheap deaths or having to do a bonus section again.
I just love how 35% turns suddenly into 100%
Ultimate Potential Unleashed Nice math XD
Kouteij lmfao
How the fuck he did that?
The gems give you only 1 % if you don't do the bonus rounds. When you get the last gem, it will turn to 100%. In Game Done Quick one person explain that, who speedruned this game. :)
This obviously isn't the original game. You can tell right away at the end of each level in the scoreboard room..
THAT'S not how it goes..
One of the greatest games of my childhood.
+Seven Foot Pelican yes today 8 years old play torture and killing games.
+NobelMicha Eh... to be fair, we also had Doom And Mortal Kombat when we were kids.
@Eva Adamska Well, we weren't as desensitized of it back then because they were the first real bloodbath games. Comparing then and now, now the games are much more gruesome. But based on the times when they were made and what existed with them, they're pretty much on par with each other.
@Eva Adamska no u
Congratulations. This is by far the most defining game of my childhood, and it's a bliss watching someone mastering it.
41:20 If you listen closely, you can actually here the speedrunner's heart stop.
Damn.. Koala Kong has definitely been skipping leg day
Lmao
1:18:36 35%-100%?! BRAIN EXPLOSION XD
You have once again entered the world of survival horror ...
Loved watching. I'm a massive Crash Bandicoot fan. The music and sound effects take me back to being a kid. Love it. Great playing.
Great job! Always a joy to watch smooth speedruns by gifted players like you. Stay awesome! subbed
1:20h? Hey that's exactly the time I need to make it up the spinning platforms in Native Fortress...
I spent the 3 years since this comment doing just that!
Seriously, I beat slippery climb faster than I beat Native Fortress.
Childhood
You make it look so easy-but practice always makes perfect. Well done!
Greetings from Greece!
Watched this while drinking wine. Not only you have excellent platform-gaming skills, but you resurfaced many loved memories from inside my mind. Keep up the good retro gaming and speedrunning!
I don’t know how you could possibly have good memories of this game but, ok, carry on.
This was awesome to watch a no glitch speed run! Loved it!

Seeing this game through a speedrunner's eyes gives me a totally new perspective!
Wow - your Crash Bandicoot skills are top notch. Thanks for making the video
Astonishing! The video was a pleasure to behold for any old school Crash fan, Mr. Uploader.
thanks!
Not sure if this guy is ultra pro or i was just bad at games when i was a kid...
You probably weren't that good as a kid (I wasn't either) but lets go with the first one.
CaneofPacci i bet when everyone was a kid they didnt know how or what to do in a video game(including me)
CaneofPacci When I was a kid I was way better at these old video games. I suck now.
@kuck True for me. When I was a kid I had Crash warped which in my opinion is the easiest out of the originals, and that game was super ultra mega hard for me, and you can bet 8-9 year old me was just…so happy when he found out what he had to do to 100% Crash 1…
So happy.
@@gladiatoranimator3088 i 100 percented the fuck out of crash as a 8 year old...... of the titans and mind over mutant.
I remember this game being ruthlessly hard as a child... I appreciated just how hard it was after giving it another go a few years back. You just did it in a bit over an hour....
Fuck.
If you have any Playstation and haven't played any Crash games, there's something wrong with you.
I think you are exaggerating too much.
DeGoldenMental Almost all my friends if not all of them have never played the PS but have played on the rest and they’ve never played Spyro, CTR, or any Crash game not even Gran Turismo they missed out.
Kind of have to agree with this, though in a less elitist sense. Crash Bandicoot games are a Playstation essential.
Since June 2018 if you have a Nintendo Switch you can play the Switch Version
i have it played crash bandicoot on playstation but i've played it on ps2 Spyro Gran Turismo
I'm impressed how fast you do the levels & defeat the bosses. Good job :).
I never thought that spinning would give invunerability against some things... Interesting
Yeah I remember being so confused as a kid because when I hold spin on the bouncing metal crates, it wouldn’t bounce me. That’s like how kids react when they see a toy train moving on a track, it magic to them.
Ouch. As a kid, I never got past ripper roo, and I thought I had come a long way then -.-
I remember getting the world code (unlock all stages) from a friend. That was quite the treasure when none of us kids were allowed to diconnect the phone's landline for very long, in order to access the dial up modem powered internet xD
yeah I was doomed once and I got to sunset vista god I hated that level, you literally just reminded me though of that unlock all levels code ! :P
Why have you not capitalized the X it’s driving my OCD through the rough REEEEEEEE-
Thanks youtube algorithm for showing me this masterpiece
Awesome run!
Good run I wish I could be this good lol keep up the awesome work :)
This is one of my all-time favourite movies!
Look at those extra lives that got left behind
When I was a kid I spent hours trying to somehow get the miniature gems (the ones that disapear as soon as you get closer)
Thanks! and good speedrunning Crash Bandicoot! It can be discouraging at first due to the poor save & check point system but once you get consistent enough that you can beat the game without being concerned about game-overing it can be fun :)
This man is a damn machine at playing Crash Bandicoot
Wow! That secret in Level 2!! Was something you learn 20 years later after gaming! This level was also in the Demo version.. wonder if the secret exist in the Demo as Well!
Excellent run! :)
reminds me of my younger days with games. CB2 was actually the first game i ever did a 100% completion on when I was in elementary school; back in the 90's without internet access o.0
great play through though man! I never finished this game 100% and now I can without any trouble.
I beat the game on 100% before... a lot of time. One guy told me "I've beat Crash on 100%. Did you beat Crash on 100? I don't know a guy who did it." and I told him I didn't but deep in me I told to myself "Well you gonna know someone who did it." and i needed like 5 days to accomplish it. He was very happy when I phone him and told him.
This was an amazing run. Well done.
Games like this were my childhood. Also Muppet Monster Adventures, Spyro, 40 Winks, Tombi, Hercules, the Atlantis one.
woah! (crash noise) that was great, id still be fumbling around on slippery climb after 1.18 mins haah
I love the true ending and Crash and Tawna float away together.
Technically that’s not the true ending, Crash 2 opens with Cortex falling from the blimp, which doesn’t happen in the secret ending, also in the *deep Crash Bandicoot lore,* Tawna ran away with Pinstripe Potoroo, so it wouldn’t make sense for her and Crash to completely abandon the castle, because with the blimp ending, the blimp probably landed at the base of the castle, where she likely would’ve seen Pinstripe as he would’ve likely fled from the flames.
Amazing! And this is a single segment run? Incredible! Congratulations!
Great run. This is some relaxing shit for me. Puts me to sleep every night.
When my phone is at 1% and I'm far from my charger
the old school OG of platformers
Absolutely awesome run. I made an any% sppedrun just for myself and my time was arund 1: 22: 00, so you made a 100 % speedrun faster than I an any%. I also saw the video when you made an any% speedrun at AGDQ, I amazed how you had luck and also skill to make it at an amazing time, 46 minutes and maybe 13 seconds. Liked and subscribed :D
Thanks, I'm hoping to get back into this game in the near future so perhaps you'll be seeing me get even better times some time soon.
CaneofPacci
I am sure I will.
This makes me want to try a speed run of this game! I only recently found out about AGDQ and have been watching speed runs since. Good luck if you make it to AGDQ 2014 and I'll definitely be watching! I'll probably even donate!
What are you doing? Are you not aware that the high road is impossible to complete on the first try?
No it isnt...
I always fail on that one the first few times :D and i've played it through alot
Well, ignorance is a bliss.
Also woosh on that other guy.
Those are 5 year old comments.
he died on the stage
Amazing video and amazing game!
Best game of my childhood and the best rage game today :D
I'd love to see you speedrun the revamped crash bandicoot 1, especially that new level added to it.
You're in luck. I have speedrun the all gems category of the N. Sane Trilogy which includes that level. :) You can find one of those runs on here, or wait a week to upload a faster one
Whoa! It is my sorrowful duty to announce officially the death of Brendan O'Brien, Crash's original voice actor. O'Brien lived a great performing life bringing joy and happiness to millions of fans by making this game and the Crash Bandicoot franchise possible. He passed away on March 23rd at the age of only 60. All of us and the gaming world will miss him and his remarkable talents. But the echoes of his voice and his humor as everyone's favorite marsupial live on. For that, we thank Brendan for helping start it all and wish him a nice long eternal rest. A reminder that gamers and everyone in the industry, only have one life to live and have to enjoy it and gaming while we can, just like you, me, and everyone else here on this Earth. All creatures great and small.
Our hearts, thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies go out to his wife Ingrid.
Need I say more?
RIP Brendan. May you keep on gaming and hunting and eating Wumpa Fruit up there in the sky, now and forevermore.
😢💔🙏🏻🎮🕊☮
Really amazing, man
thanks :)
Having a PS1 as a child was pure magic. Just watching this game footage brings me back to the magical feeling and excitement these games brought me. Back then it was pure existential bliss. Now I am an adult who is "smart" and I can see through the simple programming and finite limited nature of video games. No longer do I feel as if anything is possible because I've played so many games that I've literally seen everything that is possible.
I can still feel the magic though, that I felt as a kid, I remember it, but it does not overcome me as it once did, not nearly. Video games have exhausted themselves , but the wide eyed child lives on.
20% Zig Zagging
20% Level Music
60% Aku Aku Theme
Great job man
Who needs a green gem when you are Spiderman anyway.
The original crash is definetly better than the remastered in terms of atmosphere and music. Activision is the kid factor in every game, and it just made the remastered game more of a kid's game than a serious game like this one. Some levels are kind of creepy, especially for a child because they are intended to be.The music and atmosphere in this game is in the gaming DNA only naughty dog possesses.
Venom I've played all 3 on ps1 and now on ps4. Like the remake more thb. More appealing.
Really cus the darker than dark aesthetic clashes with the music and tone.
I agree and I'm surprised to see someone else shares this opinion, since everyone else bandwagon loves the remake, like the first two guys that replied to you. I always liked how the real first Crash Bandicoot game had a Looney Tunes/Tex Avery cartoon type of feel to it.
Some of the sounds terrified me when I was a kid and I loved it so much lol
I love them both. The remake has some really stupid decisions and misunderstands a lot of stuff from the original, plus I do miss the original aesthetic with its high contrast and higher confidence. However modern technology allows for mood lighting and detail that really adds to the atmosphere and I do think VV superceded some of the original art. I also prefer the newer gameplay and honestly appreciate time trials in 1.
I do think the remake looks/acts sillier, but imo it's not to an offputting point. Spyro remakes are so much sillier than their original counterparts that it's offputting to me. The Crash remakes were never that bad and still have more detail, texture, mood and (given the aesthetic they're going for) don't overbrighten everything.
If you ask me, the original Crash games have a much better average than their remakes, but the best stages in the remake are just oozing with atmosphere so strongly... just, damn. Don't get me wrong, the originals have amazing atmosphere, but sometimes you can really feel it filtering in with the lighting and particles and textures in the remake.
It's complicated, there's a lot you could say about each of them, but yeah.
Too bad Crash 2 turned out so shitty in the remake for the most part though. :/
CaneofPacci I want to learn from you master! You're so amazing. You did it fast and well at the same time. I can't even complete the gems.:(
Just in case you don't know what part the sequence break is, it's at the part where the potion guy is throwing the potions at the second half of the still platform just before at the two in-out platforms, if that makes sense.
If you jump down around where the second platform is, you'll land on spikes but you can walk forwards and skip one of the stairs you have to walk down IIRC. Shaves almost 10 seconds.
good work 😀
very nice video, crash bandicoot are the absolute best forever ♥
Good the idea to death to not loose time, I knew the same secret paths, I play almost like you, I had thought to do a record time ago, but I never had enough time. This remains for me most beautiful game I had ever played. Where are you from. My congratulations.
I'll try to play it at one shot, from begin to the end. Nice skills.
Congratulations. I was fascinated the way you got gem in 1-2 without using green gem.
I like your method of skipping the "Great! But you missed these crates and are a silly nitwit for doing so" cutscene in that first river stage. Rather clever.
Keep up the good work:)
360p is the max. *that’s how you know something’s on PlayStation*
*Good times*
Ah, good times...
...when I finished this game on the N. Sane Trilogy literally two hours ago
Nice run
Thanks :)
I love the whole creepy vibe to the dark levels with the music and the reverb
god tier
Thanks! and yes, this was done in a single segment.
One thing that I’ve learned about Cortex Power that saves a lot of time is that instead of going through the whole gem route, go to the end of it and work you way back to the line of TNT’s than hit the farthest one, just like you did, then go back to the regular level, then go to the start of the gem route and hit the Aku crate.
There's a new route that does it without the blue gem. Saves a nice chunk of time.
@Cane for real?! I was surprised when you somehow beat the level with the green gem… also are you ever planning on trying to improve your time? I see a couple of mistakes and those won’t matter too much, but also the new strategies mixed with your skill could make a beast of a speed run.
@@gladiatoranimator3088 My PB is a 1:09. this is just an older run that UA-cam likes to promote. That said world record is now down to 1:03
Cane thank you do you know where I can find it? This run is the only 100% run of the original crash that I can find and on UA-cam.
Never mind I just found it but I’ll check it out later, I did just spend 1:22 looking at an old PS1 game and my eyes can’t take much more of that.
Good old times ^^ Nowadays games just don't give me the same feeling anymore that I get when I look at the main menu of for example Crash 1
first game i played on my ps1, memories
Y'know, for someone trying to rescue their girlfriend, you avoid every chance to say hi to her
You know it's fast when the rest of the video makes Hog Wild look slow !
Wait...are the Tawna bonus rounds useless when it comes to boxes?? Wth? Nice moves btw! Didnt need those transport gems in the first levels at all! Had no idea that was possible.
I salute you, when I was a kid I suck so much
god job
this is a very good pace
Papu Papu - Possibly one of the easiest bosses in gaming history.
nnema95x i know an easier boss, because they kill themselves and you don't have to do anything
nnema95x Neo Cortex-The easiest Boss in every Crash Bandicoot Game.
Thanks!
Спасибо за прохождение!
My man beat jungle rollers without the color gem. Dang
Not included in the "where are they now": Tawna dumped Crash for Pinstripe Potoroo soon afterwards.
(no seriously, that's the official reason she disappeared after the first game)
Tawna was too sexy for crash bandicoot 2 cortex strikes back.
Awesome run dude, all I can say about this game is, fuck that slippery climb shit. And yeah, awesome game ! xD
Damn. Just playing this game normal was hard enough!
I found a cool exploit,
If you press the jump and spin button on your controller at the same time it’ll do those actions at the exact same time. It’s useful for stages with a lot of enemies
excellent
Hey, I'm sure you've heard of Stormy Ascent. Have you ever thought of just doing a one level speedrun on that? It'd be pretty cool to see such a hard level get smashed, and I know there's at least one sequence break that doesn't skip any crates (at the cost of a mask).
I have the run highlighted on twitch if you want to see the live commentary, but yeah, no MrBean35000vr status run commentary.
I also know i am late for this comment but i am trying to speed run this game but cant seem to master it. May you give me spine tips. Thank you for this gameplay you have blessed me with. Papa bless.
message me and I'll link you the discord for that
Nice work, subbed :)
This was one of those games I dont know why I was so good at it. I once booted it up at a friend's and got to the end in one sitting without even trying. I pick it up years later and can barely do anything.
How do you get worst over time?! Hahaha!
amazing!
How do you do that trick jump on Level 2? ( Jungle Rollers) So far I can make it up there but, I can't seem to find the box to hit.
damn I cant wait for june 30th I need to play remastered haha
crazy how this run is over 10 years old now. im curious what you think about it looking back.
