The Pontiac Aztek Cooler is the best tech feature for sure, and is actually a legitimately good cooler for routine use, keeps stuff cold for a solid two three hours in direct sunlight on 95 degree days, can't complain.
Usb-c power delivery is the best thing that happened in technology, and every new car should have them, but we are still in the transition period so regular plugs are still usefull, for now.

One of my favorite tech features is the hold break feature that’s on all Mercedes cars. If you do a lot of city driving it nice to not have to keep your foot on the break every time you’re on a red light.
It is nice, however in most cars you have to turn it on every time you start the car. In cars with a physical button it's not so bad but in my car it takes four taps on the screen to open the settings, turn brake hold on, and get back to the radio.
Good lord you missed my top 2: keyless entry, and being able to take your foot off the brake at a red light and the car stays put until you hit the gas!
Blind-spot cameras are unnecessary if you adjust your side-view mirrors to always show your blindspot instead of the side of your car. AAA recommends doing so, and it's super-easy (basically, set the two side mirrors so their view extends rather than overlaps the rear-view mirror). Voila: no more blind spot.
I do this and it's amazing how well it works. Combine this with a regular scan of the mirrors and you never need to turn your head because you know what's there. My car has blind-spot lights but I never look at them.
heated steering wheels are a must if you live in a snowy climate, so nice not having to drive with thick gloves. Obviously Alanis doesn't have a clue living in Texas, surprised she did not complain about rear window defroster ruining up the rear glass with the lines across it, she probably hates heated side view mirrors. As she is a native of Texas I would love to see her drive on a snowy and icy road, that would be hillarious
I wish cooled seats become more common. I like that Lexus offers it s standard on most of their models. Its just as useful in a hot summer day and in regions with a hot climate
Can you do a review on semi truck please? I know you do not have a CDL but if you know someone with a CDL than that would make your day something to remember.
Agree on rear view mirror camera. We could get a “smaller” car and have a kid in the third row every day and load tons of stuff for road trips. Always perfect visibility.

I would be one of those people. I don't like the sun on me or heating up my car any more than necessary. I ordered my car in the highest trim available without a sunroof. Any higher and the sunroof is standard. Those higher trims have stuff I don't need and the sunroof was optional in my trim but so it would have been a waste of money for me. For the other car I was looking at, only the base model has no sunroof. Anything above base has a panoramic sunroof. It wasn't the dealbreaker but I never would have opened it or the sunshade.
I dunno, I cant agree with the quiet start. I love my morning cold starts. On either my bike or mustang. Both have loud exhausts and give me such a massive smile when I start them.
I think I am the only one that absolutely hates heated seats . I run extremely warm so all I do is get hot and sweaty. Now the seats that have the AC are awesome 😂
I'm the opposite of her on the heated steering wheel. Anytime the temp is under 50 outside, I have it turned on. I will never get another car without it. My other wish is that every car comes with a digital rear view mirror camera. Especially in coupe designed vehicles and suvs. Just as the back up camera was mandated after 2018 for every vehicle in every trim level, these need to be mandated too.
Alanis lives in TX, of course she can't appreciate a heated steering wheel. Up here in Minnesota, I'll never buy another car without it! Same with heated seats.
Never understood the need for heated seats. With body heat and a solid seat behind you, your back should be the only part of you that doesn’t need heat. I drove a convertible with the top down for an hour at 30 degrees. Still didn’t need heated seats. I turn them on for carry out food in the passenger seat but they don’t seam to help much.
I am so much the opposite of Alanis on the heated seat/heated steering wheel debate. I have both in my car and if my seats weren't heated, I wouldn't mind. Take away my heated steering wheel in winter and we're fighting. I can't stand to wear gloves when driving. I also can't stand temperatures below 75 degrees but that's another story.
Doug never seems to consider that household plugs in cars usually have very limited wattage you can draw before you trip a circuit breaker (F150 Lightning and the Rivians being exceptions).

Even the now standard backup camera is invaluable. The ease of backing up without the possibility of hitting something is something you can't go without. Even when you would twist your body around and look out the back, it was still a huge blind area that left you vulnerable.
Agreed. I hear horror stories of children being run over by their parents backing up and the thought shakes me. I always look at the camera before backing. (I always try to know where my kids are too, but still.)
