Yes its great fun lock picking and as you say you have to be patient with them, the more you get pissed off you get with them the longer they take to open.
I know many pickers always start from the back of locks, but I generally start from the front of the lock on the very first pin. That way making it easy to detect pins.
Maybe Im just getting lucky or maybe the way you explained it made more sense to me than other videos. I have been more successful with my locks In any case, thank you.
Lol!!!!!! fair comment my friend. I do sometimes feel like smashing them with a hammer or throwing them through my kitchen window when I cannot pick them Lol!!!!
Yes Ali its a guinea pig. Was my sons but has sadly passed away, broke my little lads heart. It was cool little thing and through the day time it just use to roam our back garden and never once strayed out of the garden. He called it Roary because it was red in colour.... he named it after Roary The Racing Car Lol!!!!
I can't wait until my beginner lock picking set arrives. Unfortunately it is going to be shipped from Hong-Kong, and the order has not even been shipped out yet.
Nice video, I bought the SOUTHORD PXS-14 which they say is a good set for beginners, 1 of the reasons I wanted to learn about locks , I locked my self out of my flat, so then I decided i Better find out how they work and as I'm into DIY it did come in handy to open filing cabinets at work, any way just wish I had more time to practice and I would love to make some mortice lock picks, may be you should do a detailed, video on making picks.
Cheers for liking the video mate. Your picks from southord are not slimlines, but pending which locks you choose to pick all is well. Funny you mention me making a video of making my own picks............... I have never made a pick
Lol!!! yes got an Oral B Floss pick but tried the tooth brush in a lock and the fecker will not fit well, I had to trim it down to fit and even then had to whack it with a hammer, thanks ladies
Love my master 140s, great practice lock. Usually contain spool pins but easy to identify and overcome. Great video Rich, sat here watching with my 3yr old son.
WOW!!!! This is an old video Rich mate. Yep the 140s are good practice locks.... So sorry for the delay, but say a big HI to your little one from me mate.;o))))
I've always been interested in lockpicking, as hobby of course, but I was never absolutely sure about where I should start. Any suggestions? Also do you know a cheap lockpicking set for a beginner? Like under $15? And what kind of padlock should I start out with? Thanks :) ~Will
Hey thanks for this high quality video - The best demo I've seen on picking yet. I'm a total newbie so this helps a lot! Also - Where did you get that awesome laser!??! Are these for sale?
Sorry delayed reply as been installing the new windos 8 on my Pc. Glad you liked the video and hope it helped in some way. The lasers of that power are banned in some contries unless you use for business purposes as its 200mW and a standard laser pointer is only 5mW Deal extreme do some I believe but just make sure you check if legal in USA buddy. I got mine from a company in Uk but they no longer sell them. Thanks again for your great comment :o))))
Cheers koko mate, did you enter the comp on dbc as Im putting the video on later this evening so all can see the time it took me to pick the ISEO Cylinder lock 10 times :-)
You will get it Carlos buddy, not sure if it can take 8 or 10 weeks to arrive... Never really ordered much from Honk-Kong, but as say give it about 10 weeks but could arrive a lot sooner if lucky pending how they post shipping wise.
Waddac, love the video and will definitely check out the forum. I have a question. What do you recommend for an absolute beginner? Do you think I should pick up a cheap set of lockpicks, buy some padlocks and start from there? Or is there some other way I should start (no, I mean legally)? Thank you for your time.
What do you mean when you say a video of what happens inside the locks mate ? I think I have a master cable bike lock somewhere so will have to dig it out also ;o))))
Hi Jay, Its my 5yr old sons Guinea pig which has now passed away. As you could see it was ginger in colour or red. So my son decided to call it Roary after Roary The Racing Car because he was red Lol!!!
Thanks again mate.... Try to help newbies as much as I can. We have a new member on our DBC forum that has a PAPAIZ like mine and cannot SPP it, so I have sent a private message on how the lock works, after posting the video :-)
Yes, as I believe the the tiny hole is for lubricant......... but in my opinion it is to drain water due to a padlock being used and hanging on an exterior lock, but if you have access to the padlock all the time, lubricant should be used in that spot mate
I will have to get use to them first but do think they are great, was thinking of making some wooden handles for them when I get chance. By the way, thanks for subscribing to my channel my friend :o)
Thanks for the great comment buddy. Regarding the green laser I bought it with a red laser a few years ago. I am afraid you will not be able to purchase these in the UK now. 1mW is the legal output, yet both of mine are 200mW... which is 199 times more powerful than the standard laser pointers sold. I think you can buy them providing you use them on a professional level regarding business use. Reason they are banned is idiots pointed them at planes and helicopters.
Funny you mention Le Carbeau picks as the guy who invented them sent me a free set, and he even joined our lock picking forum.... Not seen much of him on the forum for some time though. The picks are a little bit too flexible for me but I really like the shape of them. I may have to play with them more and try do a video at some point as the design is fantastic. If they were a bit thicker metal I think they would be favourites of mine.
Hi, Yes I have been asked this a lot. My answer can vary due to what Country a locksporter is from as American keyways are more open than Euro locks to get a pick inside. That said, I would always opt for a thinner pick such as Southord Euros but be careful not to use too much force as they can bend or snap in newbies hands
No problem buddy. Check out withoutakey.co.uk as that is the place I bought my very first pick from. He is a great guy by the name of Pete Wilton. If you have any problems choosing a pick set from Pete, or if choose from another site, please feel free to ask my advice before clicking buy etc..
Sorry delay buddy as been so busy with work. The set you are looking at will be more for wide open American type locks and not much use for Euro cylinder locks. These picks if purchased may make you shy away from locksport with not having too much luck. The shafts of the picks are too high etc.. Did you look at withoutakey.co.uk
+Kewaza Mulani Yes they can be picked buddy as I have picked quite a few on my channel. You have to pick the outer pins first which makes the lock drop into a nice false set, then you finally set the inner pins to pick the lock.
what's the easiest lock I can start on? I think I got a lock that is too advanced :(. I got a Guard Lock with 5 pins. What lock do I start on since I have no experience and I'm learning this on my own?
Hi.. Some master locks are good for starting out. One is the master number 03 laminated padlock and other is a little master 140 brass padlock. They are good for practicing as they can have one security spool pin inside and when setting a standard pin the spool pin traps on sheer line causing the plug to turn a bit then stop. Trick then is to find the binding pin (tightest pin) and push on it to get counter rotation on the plug until the pin sets. Also look out for some cheap Chinese laminated padlocks in hardware stores as they are also very easy to pick. Hope this helped a little, sorry also for late reply as I am currently on holiday/vacation in Spain.
Thats called destructive entry and doing that defeats the object of opening it. We are lock pickers or should I say lock sporters and we pick locks for fun....... so smashing it with a nail and hammer is not lock picking is it?
+Dan Gray Hi Dan, Yes buddy I am now on another lock picking forum and have been for a few years. The forum in this video banned me for moving onto pastures new and not sure it exists now as you say. I am Team Advertiser And Uklocksport Promoter for the best lock picking forum on the web and you can pop along and have a look if you wish. Here is the link www.uklocksport.co.uk Regards, Rich (waddac2)
Hi Dan, thanks for watching buddy. This is an older video of mine and probably not far off some of my first videos as I started lock picking in 2010 and still picking now, so been picking about 4 years now and now playing with the odd high security locks. Thanks again for watching ;o))))
Hi Sinfold McGraw , hope you are well. Yes get a couple of cheap padlock or easy cheap euro cylinder locks and practice on those. I would recommend not spending a large amount on a pick set incase you decide you do not like lock picking. If you do visit our forum and have a look in our shop also and its specialkeys.co.uk where we do a 13 piece Majestic pick set very cheap which contain lots of different picks including rakes and hooks. Regards, Rich (waddac2)
Hi, Yes I am not explaining how to pick the lock buddy, because if you read the video title again its a Tensioning Tutorial, not a Picking Tutorial. Thanks for the comment though.
It is a shame as the lasers are fantastic. I also have a Red 200mW laser that can burn plastic and leather. I even etched my initials on a lock picking case. With them being so powerful I have special tinted goggles that a designed to be used for powerful lasers.
The pick set is a 22 piece southord slim line set. I did back then have RCS Rippled handled picks also, but used southords in that video. When you say $40 does that mean all in wit postage as can try ask around on sites for you if poss... but try withoutakey.co.uk first as they are cheap for uk, but not sure out of uk. Have a look mate and let me know how you get on. Cheers, Rich (waddac2)
You can get picks from our store specialkeks.co.uk and if you want to shop about for southords they are good too, but start basic first buddy if new :o)))))
Hi Will, Glad you have an interest in locksport as its best hobby in the world. Come and join us on our forum which is uklocksport.co.uk for great hints and tips from all members. I like southord picks as they are slimline and fit all locks. Padlocks can be funny to pick as a new started so you can try a dollar store padlock or a master number 5 which I find quite easy. Try raking locks first to pop them, then go to single pin picking :o))))
So sorry for the delayed reply as been very busy. Southord slimline picks are fantastic, but if new to lock picking be careful you do not use too much force as they will bend and snap. Use very light tension on the lock and push pins down from front to back. If working from front does not work, start at back of the lock I am team advertiser and uk locksport promoter for a forum, so come and visit us at uklocksport.co.uk It free to join and great fun :o))))
Well, it is a very old video John but glad you liked it and helped in a small way. Thanks for watching and nice comment. Have Fun And Happy Picking ;o))))
Check our shop specialkeys.co.uk mate This was an old video I did some time ago for a great forum, but if new to picking pop along to uklocksport.co.uk :o)))

Where can you buy a simple lockpicking set from and are the expensive?
Waddac, love the video and will definitely check out the forum. I have a question.

Its a 200Mw Green laser ponter and it burns matches like anything. I also have a 200Mw Red laser pointer that burns through leather etc
@waddac2 no from the UK but living in Australia at the moment, can you get them in just an ordinary hardware store?
Great going Carlos, glad you got your order my friend... Happy picking buddy ;o))))
Well I think I literally learned a literal lot there. I literally feel better off now. Literally.
Are you in the uk mate for wanting to buy a pick set?
I will have to get use to them first but do think they are great, was thinking of making some wooden handles for them when I get chance. By the way, thanks for subscribing to my channel my friend :o)

Great video as always waddac!!!!
I've seen that kit on Amazon, but no one has it for sale. Know any good ones on eBay/Amazon for $40

I will have a go at handles I think but just need to get good tools and glue to do it :o))))
Can mult-locks be picked, coz some of their pins have pins within?
+Kewaza Mulani
Yes they can be picked buddy as I have picked quite a few on my channel. You have to pick the outer pins first which makes the lock drop into a nice false set, then you finally set the inner pins to pick the lock.
Be a long time before I finish the project man. I am off work due to two very big operations, but I will make the handles ;o))))
LOL!!!!!! just re-looked at the video again as did it ages ago...... Yep I do use the word "Literally" quite a few times don't I. LOL!!!!!
what's the easiest lock I can start on? I think I got a lock that is too advanced :(. I got a Guard Lock with 5 pins. What lock do I start on since I have no experience and I'm learning this on my own?
