I guess I am 4 people now
Yes! Love the fact that you didn’t add anything to up the protein and just opted to make something delicious instead. Can’t wait to try it! 👍
for 950Kcal you can do better
As an anabolic cook/baker I can think of plenty of things for the egg whites
I'm loving the fact I finally have something to use the egg yoke for!!
Thank you so much for this I have your protein pancakes almost every day and this will make a fine addition to my collection
nice star wars reference hahaha
tried making these and i was so surprised with how easy they actually were to make and how good they tastes. Great vid and great recipe
Made this last night with some tweaks - I used whole rolled oats instead of oat flour, 100 g nonfat greek yogurt + 1 tbsp milk instead of the apple sauce (adds more protein), and baked it at 350 F for 15 min. It came out great!
1 tbsp of milk is literally one gram of protien
@@soggymilk56 I was referring to the combination of greek yogurt and milk, not just the milk.
@@funnymonkie411 oh lol
wonder if replacing the PB with protein powder will change anything
@@jg5695 probably just the flavor, try it and let us know lol
Love your honesty! Thank you for the recipe! I'll definitely try it.
"if you cut it into 4 servings" - as if!!
Lol
Fattie
Clickbait bs title
@@light-qe3gv not really fatty
@@tylerriggs95 im literally 8% bodyfat
this is the kind of attitude I need when I bake! "close your eyes when you add the baking powder" had me crying!
Will b making the cakey one AND the brownie one!! Thx Josh!!
100% will be trying all 3. Thanks for the recipe Josh!
🙌🙌
I made the brownie version today and it was great. I know he mentioned there not as good as a normal cookie/brownie skillet but I wasn’t missing the real thing at all. Taste wise for the brownie version it wasn’t super sweet which if you want that then you’re probably not gonna like it as much but what it does have is a really nice chocolate flavor. So if that’s what you like I would very highly recommend the brownie version.
Best recipe channel on UA-cam.
I love your common sense approach to adjustments, such as "close your eyes when we get to the baking soda part." XD
Usually, when I watch these "low calorie, high protein" dessert recipes, they almost always require protein powder, which I hate buying. So, I'm glad to see something I can do that doesn't require protein powder. I'm definitely going to try this.
why you hate buying protein powder?
@@AnantGupta02 expensive
Low calorie? It's 950Kcal!!!
@@YouSurfinyou could very easily lower the calories with a few changes. Sugar Free maple syrup and chocolate chips for example. Mine is 810 for the whole thing. And even then, 900 calories for an ENTIRE cookie skillet is fuckin amazing.
Loved the humor this vid.
Made the chewy version last night...yum! I subbed Ener-G Egg Replacer for the yolk and it worked just fine. Thanks for the recipes!
Well damn! Now I need to get a dog to take care of the extra ingredients I don’t need any more lol. Josh, love your commentary. And since I am a chocoholic I’m definitely going to use this one
I personally don't crave sweets often, but my sister does and recently started her weight loss journey. I'll share this recipe with her!
Tell her to do intermittent fasting and she can still enjoy the real thing. I’ve lost forty pounds and eat a real dessert daily.
Hell yes buddy!!! Thank you!!!!! Awesome
Thanks for these, the part about not wanting to buy casein is real. I don't mind having some it's just the cost has gone up. I ended up buying 2 massive bags of optimum nutrition protein at Costco just to have it in the event it goes up again. Shits turning into an investment at this point. Can't wait to try this!!!
These look delectable
My wife is going to love this. I already make the baked oatmeal twice a week you are gonna kill me in the kitchen man.
Im making this tomorrow, ive been intermittent fasting and im always craving cookies or brownies
You can get butter extract on the slice isle and add it to it without adding the calories.
man im traveling atm babysiting a friends apartment and boy oh boy am i craving something like this xD, had to boil eggs in a pan yesterday. Funky stuff
I accidentally put the egg white in and just decided to go with the whole egg. Still came out 🔥!
Good going Josh
The cookie skillets look awesome! Don't know if I can just have a quarter tho 😅 You crack me up! Feed it to the dog ... I'd save the egg white for your baked oatmeal recipe :)
The only earning I got about using different starches is that in certain recipes, you will taste the difference. I suppose this will be especially important if what you use it in is mildly flavored.
has anyone tried the wheat flour version of it? I tried it w/ the chewy version and it ended up too soft and never seemed to really cook despite leaving it in for way longer 😢 I don't think I messed it up though I used 90g instead of 95 for flour cause of volume
Edit: Wait I used pancake syrup. Now that I think about it that def has way too much water compared to maple syrup I bet.
I'm definitely going to try cookie skillet and I'm going to add my homemade Ninja creami protein ice cream
I am literally realizing how fun and easy weight loss is omg
Hey just a note you can beat the egg white to add to the fluffy texture you are aiming for in the first version
It dilutes the sweetness and led to a gummy texture when I tried that. It wasn’t as good
Looks great. I imagine sugar free maple syrup and Lili's chocolate chips would pull calorie count down even more. Whether or not that's worth doing-- will need to cook ad eat a few batches to say for sure. Thanks!
I was wondering this as well bc i am diabetic lol
I did the same thing and pulled the calories down to 760 for the whole thing. I'm also diabetic and this recipe is a game changer. I love the cakey version.
If you are allergic to peanut butter what can you replace the protein powder with? Regular flavored protein powder?
If I want to make these ketogenic using almond flour or coconut flour, what is the substitution ratio in place of oat flour?
How much should weight the whole skillet? I use the weighting ingredients and It was way too dry before cooking
nice
im just wondering when you said per serving make 4 do you mean like 4 slices per the whole batch or like 4 serving with the one you are holding
Can i add casein protein powder to that and if yes - how?
any way to include casein?
really good recipe. i recently "invested" in a giant tub of vanilla casein protein powder, so how *would* you change these cookie sheet recipes to incorporate that?
your website is awesome, but i can't sort/filter recipes by ingredients used/excluded.
He said in another comment to add it and some milk, but he hasn't done it - also I don't know if you'd swap it out or anything. Maybe play it by ear
🎉YASSS 👏
Tried this recipe, but for some reason 162 C and 12 min wasn't enough, maybe my oven skillet was to small and the mixture wasn't spread out to make it thin a layer, any suggestions?
Hi Josh, Could I still add Casein to these to pack more of a protein punch if I wanted? Just got to the part at 3:20 where you mentioned it
You may have to add some milk or something if you do. I’ve never tried it. Its going to make it more cake like
@@TheMealPrepManual Thank you for the reply. Keep up the great work. I really look up to your videos😊
Did you end up trying it with the casein? How did it come out
@@paul5928 I ended up having to change a few more variables because of what I had in my pantry so I don't know if I could speak to it. If I try it again, I'll stick exactly to the recipe but with casein and see.
more bulk meal’s please
can i change the maple syrup for honey ?
Anyone know if I can replace the PB with protein powder and the applesauce with greek yogurt?
First!! Haha actually this looks amazing i can't wait to try them!
Do these need to be eaten right away, or will they remain reasonably edible for a few days?
I’ve had a couple of them sitting on the counter for 2 days now and they are still good. Not sure how much longer though
nice old mixer, did you get that from your grandma ? 😁
Knowing me, on my cheat day I'll add 2 massive scoops of ice cream on top and still call it "clean" lol
Honestly, I don't need this to be "as good" as a typical cookie skillet. I just want something that tastes good, has a pleasant texture, and satisfies my sweet tooth without consuming the same amount of sugar that I would get in a pint of ice cream. I'm trying to reduce my sugar addiction, not feed it.
"close your eyes when I add the baking soda" lmao 🤣
Can you use parchment paper instead of oil or is it needed for the baking process?
You can it'll come out easily that way.
I just made the chewey version but topped it with 1 tablespoon of mini chocolate chips instead of regular and it was fuckin great. Gonna make this all the time to curb my cookie craving. I used sugar free maple syrup and saved up a few calories. About 203 grams for 1/4 so I'll happily have two slices for 406 calories.
Edit: so the next day I made the cakey version. And HOLYSHIT. it's fuckin amazing. I accidentally added 4g of baking soda rather than 2 so idk if it made a difference but it's so fuckin good. I added mini chocolate chips so the chocolate distribution was far wider. I love this. I will never go back to cake or cookies. I will try the brownie version and give my review later.
2nd EDIT: I've made the brownie cake version multiple times now and i love it. I dont know which one i prefer between the brownie or cakey one but they're both amazing. The brownie one has less calories but has less protein while the cakey one has more more protein but more calories. If you swap the syrup for a sugar free one and maybe the same for the chocolate chips you can save a lot more calories. Also just use mini chocolate chips for the whole thing so you have more chocolate spread throughout.
I fuckin love this thing. The cookie chewey one i might try again but tbh the cakey/brownie one is awesome enough.
Are they suitable citizens to enter Snack City?
Or will the cookies crumble under the temperature and pressure?
I wouldn’t think this would be great in the freezer
Can u add protein
Could you use darc chocolate chips
Finally a recipe that's not using Yogurt, Sour Cream, Butter Milk or Cream Cheese! Thank you very much, I've been looking for something like this.
Do you think sugar free maple syrup would work to make it even less calorically dense?
Yes
What's the point of using oat+starch instead of whole wheat flour? Difference of taste?
It’s just a gluten free option for those that may need it
Any ideas for what to use instead of the peanut powder? I am allergic so can't have it unfortunately.
You can just leave it out
There’s powdered almond butter as well, also by PB2. 👍🏻
If you're in the UK alternatives are really hard to find. I know there are some soy/sunflower based "nut free" peanut butters. I get mine at Holland and Barrett I only really use them for baking.
@@juiy222 That sounds like a good idea, I'll try that. Cheers mate
1:04 if I want to use regular peanut butter do I use the same amount as when I use powdered peanut butter?
probably yes, but i've never tried
if i dont have apple sauce what wld be the equivalent in butter?
Probably somewhere between 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup if I had to guess
Hello, just a quick question about the baking soda, where comes the acid from to react with, just asking that i can understand?
probably the applesauce
@@TheMealPrepManual Im stupid, thank you for your answer, i baked it in the meantime, but didnt taste it yet. I had an idea with the egg white, thought about beating it to egg snow to mix it under the liquid, but i got some egg york in it, maybe next time. In general thank you for your reciepes, its fun to copy it.
Is it possible to add banana instead of Apple sauce?
Probably but banana has a much stronger flavor than applesauce
I used a banana instead twice already and it's insanely good !
are there any substitutes for the apple sauce? as I am allergic to apples
Maybe pumpkin but that won’t be as sweet
@@TheMealPrepManual thanks! do you think any artificial sweetener would fix that?
I used 100 g nonfat greek yogurt + 1 tbsp milk instead. It adds more protein and it was still plenty sweet from the maple syrup.
At this point the only way I’ll reasonably upkeep my sweet tooth with my cal limit, is by me eating just straight up sugar by the spoon
I’ve actually done this in the past. I would just dip my finger into sugar and that would be enough to hold me over. 😅😅
Any substitute for the PB2 as someone with a peanut allergy?
I will try with a protein powder as a replacement for the pb2 keep you uptade if it turn out good
@@Wuila thank you bro👌
@@arronhowitt321 it does work pretty well but the baking may vary a little bit
@@Wuila cheers man will give it a go
This is why you're the Mayor.
Anybody know how much butter I would use instead of the applesauce?
Probably at least 1/4 cup. Often times recipes that swap applesauce for butter go a full 1:1 swap
@@TheMealPrepManual Awesome Thanks 👍
Would it still work if I used straight up rolled oats? (Don’t have a blender to make oat flour)
Hmm. Probably but it’s going to drastically change the texture
@@TheMealPrepManual that’s fine with me. Thanks for the response!
Is there an unhealthy version that uses normal ingredients?
It's interesting you always answer ahead of time stupid questions & comments. Are there so many? (Like. What to do with the egg white - wtf? Whatever, huh?)
Also, you say 236 kcal each for 4 servings, but the small "cube" you show looks a 9-ish serving size. So I guess the one you hold in your hand is a 105kcal-ish one, right? Also, can these survive freezing (and go to 'Snack City')?
Thanks!
Correct. I just used that small one for presentation purposes. I don’t think I would freeze these but maybe
@@TheMealPrepManual Wonderful, thank you!
Could you replace apple sauce with anything?
(I hate apples sorry)
This won't taste like much if at all like apples. It's there for texture, the other flavors in this should MORE than overpower any apple taste. After all it wouldn't taste much like cookies if you could taste the apple.
2:48 :))
Have you ever tried using erythritol in these recipes ?
I haven’t you could probably experiment with it and add it in place of the syrup if you added some other kind of liquid
I can make it on my air fryer?
I don’t think I’d recommend that
well I just tried - the top got browned which is not entirely perfect for a cookie but it was alright. You kind of can air fry anything you would put in the oven as the only difference is a fan that's always blowing full force so stuff kind of gets blasted with heat.
20g protein at 1000 calories seems more accurate. Who can eat 1/4th of a warm cookie
Thanks, now I need a dog too…😂
200 something calories but that doesn't count all the chocoloate chips you eat while you're mixing the batter. And in my case, m&m mini's.
Only 236 for that little piece? That’s almost 1/4th of my limit lmao
Allergic to the pb tho😢😢
“Skillets” make it sound like a frying pan. These are BARS.
Could we get more airy fryer meals?
So the whole skillet is 236 cal?
Not super low calorie
If you find a SUPER low calorie cookie recipe that doesn't have the texture of cardboard let me know
@@bribradt3450 found one
I wish you showed what a serving was in your hand
...pizookie
I just tried the chewy version with chickpea flour instead of oat flour. Maybe it's the natural flavor of the chickpea flour, but this tastes really "healthy," if you know what I mean. I feel like the applesauce and maple syrup isn't quite enough sweetness. And personally, I don't much like the "chewy" version texture. But still, very intriguing recipe. And it comes at a perfect time, as I have just started a diet. I will definitely try this again. Hopefully my experimental notes are useful to someone.
Calories add flavor. So, if we want to lose weight or not get fat, we have to give up some pleasure from the flavor calories add. It is not rocket science!
you lost me at replacement for butter.
I don’t see the point of it’s just that small price for 237, there are similar items in the store that aren’t too far off from that number 🤷♂️
Cool, but clories aren't the problem, the fact that this is incredibly carb rich is (cornstarch, oat flour, baking soda).
Nah
And...? Carbs aren't bad for you. People need to stop demonizing carbs.
These are gonna be dangerous
For your blood sugar, yes.
🫡🫡
soooo.. this has same calories as normal coockies or even more.. put how many calories for 100g instead of wasting people time
So the whole cookie is 944 Kcal? That's WAY too much. I'll pass.
Way too much for what? Are most people trying to eat an entire batch in one sitting? 230 calories for a serving seems reasonable to me.
@@bribradt3450 A Serving is very subjective. For you it's 1/4, for others can be 1/9. That cookie at 0:05 seems like 1/16 of the whole recipe. That's 59 calories each cookie. A chips ahoy cookie has 54 calories. 5 calories more each cookie.
None of these are cookies.
bro why are you talking so damn fast. breathe. 😂
