Thanks for appreciating our culture and learning our language Jared. If you and your girlfriend plans to visit the country and she's a Columbian, you might want to visit Zamboanga City down in the Mindanao region where they speak broken Spanish with the mix of Visayan dialect - we called the dialect Chavacano. Well, happy that you guys are visiting the Philippines in May, just bring comfy clothes like sandos (sleeveless shirts), shorts and cotton made clothes co'z it's too hot right now here during our summer. Ingat palagi!

Youre so good at speaking in tagalog, there's still an accent but overall your tagalog is amazinnggg!!! the surprised look on their faces were priceless! I hope you enjoy your stay in the Philippines next month. Its always nice to see Americans or foreigners who speaks tagalog but have never been to the Philippines, finally visit the PH. Tagalog Kurt is currently here in the PH, he's still here i think.
But anyways enjoy your stay, Summer here is really hot, since this is a tropical country, but def the best time to visit the beaches and other tourist spots. Coz PH has a lot to offer! Enjoy and stay safe!

“Putok batok” literally means “ bursting nape/back of neck” and colloquially refers to food high in cholesterol and/ or very fatty, ie potentially will increase your blood pressure (which often can be felt as a throbbing at the nape).

For your 1st time to the Philippines, please be prepared for the humidity. My tip is to not go inside the air-conditioned malls so soon when you are dripping with sweat. I would encourage you to buy those tea towels (but for the body) so you can wipe sweat off your body. Or even bring with you an extra shirt or two when you walk about outside during the day.
A lot of people get ill when the body is exposed from extreme hotness outside to the coolness of the malls.

Good job! As a native speaker, you’re very clear and coherent. Even throwing some filipino humor! It’s quite challenging to be funny in another language. Kudos!
Just a tip, you can swap out ‘ate’ for ‘tita’ when speaking to elderly women. Same for elderly men with ‘tito’. Shows more respect
Excited for ur trip in the PH, good luck with the heat! 😊

Be mindful of your belongings when you get to the airport, I agree with the other commenters that we're not exempt from opportunists. VISIT ILOILO CITY, awarded as the cleanest city in Asia. From Iloilo, take the bus to Boracay. From Boracay, you may fly to Cebu City and visit Bohol as well. From Cebu City, fly to Coron or El Nido, then back to Cebu and fly to the summer capital Baguio City (it’s cool up there) then proceed to Vigan and the neighboring cities…..

2 minutes in loving the video already. You definitely earned my sub. I have notes though on how you could improve Tagalog pronunciation. Listen to people speaking Bahasa Indonesia or Bahasa Malaysia. It's more similar to the way Tagalog is spoken compared to what I can only assume where your Tagalog accent is from, which is Spanish. Overall amazing Tagalog speaking and conversing skills from a non-native. Definitely better than most videos out there of people claiming to be fluent in Tagalog.

Even the way you say English words sounds exactly like how we Filipinos say it! Especially how you say, "Okey" 🤩

It's El Nino this year and the weather is extremely hot, and will be even hotter in May. Bring sunscreen and cotton shirts.

@Jayyhartmann You should try exploring Zamboanga city in the Philippines. We have our own Spanish language called Chavacano somewhat similar to Spanish.

The weather in the Philippines right now is extra-ordinarily hot. Classes are legitimately being cancelled due to the health risks the weather imposes. Be careful and stay safe!

"Buhay pa ba yung Barbero?" is how to kiddingly tease your haircut, it's usually followed with, "Tara tapusin na natin."
"Is the barber still alive?, Let's go and finish him if he still is."

I love this. As a Filipino who grew up in America and came to America at 8 years old. This is very impressive.
