Jayyhartmann where is this in Canada? Salamat sir. Watching from Florida.
Hearing you saying the word "opo" really makes me admire you more for loving the Philippines. More power to you. God bless man.
He is indeed fluent. I'm a bit salty before watching this because there were a lot of videos I watched saying that they speak fluent filipino but turns out soft and mumbly which is ok though. But yours sounds really like a filipino.
5 months into learning tagalog and this is so inspiring to me! Thanks for the content, keep it up!
Thank you! Good luck with your Tagalog studies 😊
nice, 170 more languages to go :D
@@Jayyhartmannwhere is this, lots of Filipino here?
Mind blown by his mastery of Tagalog language despite the fact that he has not set foot in the PH yet. The accent, intonation and nuances. Just wow!
I like that he even uses Po and Opo… so respectful and truly Filipino.
His accent and tone is perfect. Amazing.
its not perfect need more practice for accent but he is good at tagalog language.
It is perfect in the sense that he has never been to the PH and is not half-Filipino.
he even surprised some batanguenyo and ilokano people
Definitely nowhere near perfect, but good enough to look casual.
@@uglyme9411 His accent is very UST, ATENEO, ans UP conyo, so I'm pretty sure he's accent is very accurate. Our Tagalog accents may vary from region and like status I suppose
It kinda pisses me off that there are people that don't speak the language in the videos who think that Xiaoma can talk like this guy after studying for a couple weeks. Xiaoma gets pretty good at languages for only studying for a couple weeks but his level is still beginner and with a lot of stuttering and "uhhhh"s on top of mispronunciations and poor grammar. If you remember in the Tagalog Xiaoma video the woman said he sounded very American. In this video the lady can clearly see Jared and is still convinced he is Filipino.
It's coz some mixed fil-ams look more whatever half than general filipino/SE Asian. aah, genetics and psychosocials 😂
Furthermore, mastering tagalog takes years as we have many special conjugations that takes years to learn intutively. Xiaoma is good, but not good enough to catch up with Jared in a few weeks. People who think that are flat-out wrong
Facts bro this guy deserves more subs
Jared is much better than xiaoma
Impressive! So fluent. Best Tagalog spoken by a Canadian or American I’ve watched in UA-cam so far. The conversion has many if not all the nuances and practices spoken by a Filipino including the “po” and “ba” which do not usually translate to the English language. Thanks for sharing!
What a trip, this made my day! Perfect tagalog! I love seeing the reactions of fellow Filipinos abroad because it just shows how much they miss speaking their native tongue especally in a foreign country.
As a filipino, i could clearly understand your tagalog since some slangs were omitted. filipino is one of the vivid languages after all, like german and russian.
at 3:00 you may notice the difference between same words but different syllable stresses
tag in- it - means "someone/ something that heats things up." literally understood as "taga init"
tag- init literally means "summer heat season"
that's how our auntie says it was something academically deep about it. we learned that on filipino class during my highschool and college.
at 6:36 pork skewer, it was pork barbecue in the philippines
chicken skewer was chicken barbecue, depending on the place and the cook or chef that prepared it, would be authentic if a filipino cooks it due to special marinade and sauce that are mostly made by them. simple but authentic.
at 7:11 you also notice that the sauce was a vinegar, that was the easiest sauce to make, for the other sauces you may need ketchup(banana ketchup), some onions and garlic and some other seasonings and spices that a filipino cook may prepare for a barbecue skewers.
at 9:24 lomi is an original noodle dish from batangas, sometimes they make noodles from scratch some cooks buy noodles from the market then prepare it with their special soup for the lomi noodles. my favorite lomi is a chicken lomi sometimes i go by sweet and spicy lomi.
As i watch the whole video i kept on smiling im amazed that a foreigner can speak my first language, keep it up bro....pusong pinoy kapatid...suporta sa mga nagmamahal sa pinoy
It is so inspiring to see this, I'm also learning tagalog to surprise my filipino side of the family (my girlfriend's family) so i can make them feel more comfortable with me. Maraming salamat sa iyong content.
You wouldn't have any problems learning Cebuano since it has more Spanish loan words compared to Tagalog and the verb conjugation is waaaay easier! But has a lot of glottal stops.
And you might want to give Chavacano a go too!
Chavacano man haha from Zamboanga here
Is cebuano really that easy? I know spanish and of course, tagalog. I'm looking for another language to learn and initially, I wanted to learn German but I thought, why not learn another language from my country?
@@christiangonzales5296 I have no idea since I myself speak that language
@@christiangonzales5296 To give you an idea, here are sample verb conjugations of Tagalog and Bisaya in the present progressive tense:
Kumakain = Nagakain
Tumatawa = Nagatawa
Umiinom = Nagainom
Just slap "Naga" in front of the root word instead of playing around with the syllables.
The only challenge is probably the vocabulary because there are only a few Tagalog words that are also used in Cebuano. For example:
Lakad = Baklay
Lumalakad = Nagabaklay
Your Tagalog is superbly better than that other Canadian guy who vlogs in the Philippines and was just given a Filipino citizenship. Yours is amazing because you learned it while you are there in your country. That other guy’s Tagalog is very slang and funny.
Please don't compare. Omg
K _ _ _ S left the group
You’re Tagalog is so amazing! I’m also from Calgary, Alberta. Hope people will not compare with the other Canadian, I know whom you are referring to. Every individual differs.
Hey man. I’ve been enjoying your interactions with the locals and you should definitely do more of those type of videos. It’s cool to look at authentic reactions.
If you go to the Philippines, try visiting Kulas (Kyle Jennermann) in Cateel, Davao Oriental. Like you he is 100% canadian. Unlike you, he speaks only little tagalog but his contribution to the whole Philippine islands through blogging earned him filipino citizenship. There's a lot to learn from Kulas not only from foreigners but pilipinos as well.
Maraming salamat po for making a video about Filipino and it's culture...❤❤❤
Someone get this man here! Filipinos will love you
Ang galing! I've been watching your videos and nakakatuwa na Pinoy na yung lumalapit sayo para makipag-usap ng Tagalog. Like a lot of Pinoys in Canada recognize you.

Try to add "po and opo(yes)" to make it more polite kahit same age or younger ung kausap mo mas matutuwa sila sayo, galing mo mag tagalog, tuloy tuloy lang, salamat sa pag mamahal sa aming kultura ♥
your accent is spot on Po! its key to getting the dialects correct vs just saying the words. its key in my Bisaya learning! ill be in Dumaguete in 4 days!
Xiaoma = Happily married polyglot
Jared = Broken-hearted polyglot
😂
You forgot Oriental Pearl as a happily Married Polyglot😅
Impressive.!.!.. you speak better than my son who spent 7 yrs. to study Vet Med. in the Phil., very polite & respectful w/c part of our growing up culture back then.. :)
Kakatuwa nman you love our language I subscribe you one day you will get more subscribers. Keep it up and enjoy exploring the world with your blog God bless
I hate it when you speak tagalog to a kababayan and that kababayan responds in English all the time! It‘s about respect
I love to hear you speak Tagalog, nakakabilib ka talaga❤
Maganda Yan Jared mas madali Kang matuto at mabilis Ang paraan mo para lalong Kang magaling mag Tagalog,mahalaga in person kamakipagsalitain ,good job,at na encounter mo Ang lahat na pilipino Ang bawat wika Ng pilipino,
Yung gumagamit sya ng Po at Opo… kinikilig ako 🥰🥰🥰
Dude your Tagalog is awesome! Hope you'll come and visit the Philippines soon.
hey bro I am half Ethiopian half ertrian who is in love with Tagalog I moved to Dubai last year and I started to love the language I have lots of Filipino friends and I love the food and I am learning the language kinda hard for me but I am learning my plan is to open a first radio show in Tagalog and your videos are amazing thank you I wish you the best ❤🎉
5:50 the "po" is always there even if they are aware that your'e white.. that is a sign of being polite or respectful. The first lady was obviously older than you thats why she doesnt need to say "po". But in the philippines some may still say "po" even if they are older than you coz again "po" have two implicaitons, being polite or respects you as elder..
love when you say "po"...more respectful than some pinoys
Wow! Galing ah!
Im from Olongapo and its nice that she mentioned our city and said how nice it is. salamat po
speaking tagalog plus saying "Opo"..... perfect hehehe. respect
OMG this is sooo cute!!
Biggs used to have some good stuff, Congo Grill sizzling tofu is pretty good, chow king tofu + soy sauce is pretty good, if you like mcdonalds breakfast you'll probably like jollibee, right now I'd say the best chain food is probably Max's sizzling tofu (and one of the few spicy foods you can find in most regions)... overgeneralization - most filipinas are great cooks, but you really have to emphasize you don't want sweet (even the "whole wheat" breads are super sweet - no joke), else all the wonderful flavors will be blasted away/hidden by the sugar (exceptions, strangely enough, dessert places like dunkin donuts and goldilocks are relatively unsweet as compared to western versions). people will talk up tocino (tastes like meat glazed in honey) and adobo (every hispanic country has a national food version of it that is completely different...philippine one not spicy), but pancit miki or pancit canton are my gotos (beware: about as oily as american east pizza and west pad thai).
ang galing ! You should try coming over here
Dude Sana All 💪
New subscriber here ,, just awesome to hear foreigner speaking our Tagalog language😂😂😂❤❤❤

Grabe ka, daig mo pa yung ibang pinoy na namimilipit sa tagalog nila hahaha, only matatalinong tao lang ang pwedeng linguist na tulad mo, knowing tagalog, english and even spanish I think, congrats bro....come here in the Philippines, you may even become an instant celebrity with that attitude and talent.😊😊
As a Filipino, born in raised in Canada, I am glad you’re embracing and appreciating our culture. Respect

Hello Jared, first thing I wanted to say is that I love the content and look forward to seeing your channel grow.
The second thing I would like to say is please, invest in a new mic.
Nice 😊 like I said on the comment from your previous vlog, this kind of content is going to be more popular than your usual content, you are far better than Kyle or Kulas of Becoming Filipino, keep up the good work brother!
galing! .. hahahaha, na papa ngiti ako habang nanunuod sa video mo.. yung part pa lang na alam mo yung character ng isang Filipino base sa lugar nila sobrang nakaka bilib na yun.. imagine studying geographics, social life style of people leaving somewhere within 7,641 islands and having more than 111 dialects.. That is sooooo "Anggas"... hahahaha
I'm so happy when you upload. I'm probably biased, but you're the only content creator I look forward to watching nowadays 💯
I really gasped that someone or might not a foreigner speaks tagalong. Its really bringing me joy and amazed by your speaking tagalong.

Galing 💗
The whole time I was watching. I was smiling. Damn, galing!
Im glad u enjoy filipino food and ur so awesome speaking tagalog.❤
Yes bro, food tastes better in the homeland ❤
Your Tagalog is superb 🌟🌟👍
what the?! Learning Filipino is hard, you sound like a real native speaker!
Thank you for speaking our language even if you're there in Canada. And not even Filipino language but other dialect too. You truly have a Filipino heart ❤️ 🇵🇭👍🏻🤍🙏🏻 God bless.
Ang galing mo kuya. 🫡
The way you casually used "jowa" is funny to me. You're becoming like a true blue Filipino now, man. Jowa is actually just a slang for girlfriend, and girlfriend is acceptable to us Filipinos, but you went out of your way to use it to sound more natural and knowledgeable about our language. Props to you for that.
More Power
Wow.... kagaling mo naman... using po and opo, too... very admirable ❤
Man, I wish my Tagalog was 1/4 as good as yours. Loved the video .
Yo! Your tagalog is impressive! I'm even more impressed that you know several Filipino dialect words. Ang galing mo bro! 👍
IT'S TRUE FOOD IS UNITING THE WORLD. . . . THE UNIQUENESS OF THE PHILIPPINE CUISINE MAKES A EXCELLENT CONVERSATION PIECE. . . .
Another great one!
