When I was a kid there was a company that stiffed my neighbor at the time and he and his sons went over to the business at night drove by in the car and threw balloons filled with paint remover at their vehicles. I remember the next day there was this huge write up in the local paper about how the company had to have all their vehicles repainted due to some "vandals".
Yeah... And insurance covered the cost and all the other small businesses in town pay higher premiums because shit like that. I'm still glad they got some revenge but there's way better methods
I used to drive limo's my boss always said get the money up front before you even start the ride. There are some weird assholes out there when they get drunk they will try and stiff you. Could this be considered theft of services? Could you get the police involved? Definitely going to have to always remind myself to take before and after pictures.
I've been in this situation before where a client made me wait over a month for a TV and satellite installation, after weeks of calling and requesting payment and getting ignored, i showed up at his house with a legal document to have my equipment removed. Long story short, the payment was done same time after he got angry at me for asking for what was due to me... Lesson learnt, deposit first, especially when it comes to "faulty" clients
Lesson learned bro.Saw a very smart comment.Said make sure you get 50% payment upfront or make sure they sign a document saying you did the job you can use that in court.
This is exactly why every estimate I do is signed and accepted electronically with a disclosure/contract. I was screwed once, and immediately started enforcing that.
My husband and I have a small painting business. We also do light construction, carpentry and power washing etc. We've had a job where we ended up having to take out a lien on a couple's property because they owed us over $12,000 and after giving them more than enough time to pay, we realized we weren't getting paid without the courts. We even had a woman go as far as splashing paint all over her rugs, walls and doors claiming that we did it because she didn't have the money to pay for all the work she had done. Apparently she didn't realize that we always take many before and after pics and her husband had signed off on the job. It's crazy what people will do to avoid paying for services.
You should put his name out there. I had a renovation/remodeling business and when I provided a quote it was a combo contract valid with the customer's signature. All legal terminology was in it including fees and fines for late or non payment. It was iron clad and would affect their credit score if they didn't pay. Your business is different, of course, but I required half down, 40% before the job was completed and the remaining 10% upon completion.
I pressure wash myself. I do prefer the turbo but thats my personal prefference, my boss actually hates them for some reason. Feel for you, hope he pays you brother. The comment I will not be doing work for him again made me happy, glad you have conviction. Stay safe.
That is a very common practice in my country (Argentina). My collecting message says : " I'll go to your place tomorrow to receive my pay, if there is nobody home, I also carry with me 15 liters of weed killer. Nothing will grow in your garden for some 5 years." It works like a charm.
One reason I try sticking to commercial businesses.. It's a business to clean & you deserve to get payed properly for your labor, time & for using your equipment to do the job right.. More money in commercial pressure washing but also a chance to grow by providing window cleaning.. 2 birds from 1 shot.
Go back and take some wet mulch and spread on the area you cleaned, re-wet it and leave it for the home owner to clean up. Should be pretty strained by the time they see it. Good job thought!
You might be a small business but I would def recommend you to have the client signing a contract, that way your chance of getting paid is higher. I made that mistake when I first started and didn’t get paid several times. Also couldn’t sue them because there was no agreement on paper. But good luck my friend! Glad to see young people grinding. Reminds me of myself when I first started trying to grow my bussiness .
Go down to city hall and file a mechanics lien against his property for failure to pay. That usually gets their attention. If he still doesn't pay then it's priceless if he ever sells the house, it comes up with a lien against it and it has to be resolved before it sells.
Start taking a non refundable deposit payment now mate, don’t get ripped off 👍🏼 Make sure the deposit is included in the price of the estimate. If they cancel you keep the deposit, and if they don’t pay you, you still get the deposit. I’d also only clean the surface the deposit pays for.
Yes sir I indeed was thinking why not use a surface cleaner? lol for the views... I like your honesty!! As for the deadbeat customer, talk to your local news about it and see if they can get him to answer them as to why he hasn't paid you yet and you might get a fire lit under his check writing hand. I do subcontracting work for channel 8 here in Tampa, so your local news channel will usually help if they can but you'll need to reach out to them.... even show them this video. God Bless my friend!
I do mostly concrete for a living but when I was asked if I knew anyone that does pressure washing I automatically signed myself up. Great way to make easy money. Although tedious I don’t mind it.
If you have a contract with him, send him to collections and let the collection agency collect the money. You can negotiate the agency’s rate unless they have to represent you in court.
Justin, just thinking out loud. Why not use a payment solution such as Square on your phone. Roll the fee 8n as a convenience fee. Take a deposit for the entire job on the clients CC and when finished, push it through as a purchase.
I'd tell anyone if I dont get paid i put the dirt back on. A nice mix of used oil brake fluid and some paint thinner to make it easier to spray should do the job.
My husband worked construction. Add-ons had to be agreed on and signed for before work was done. They were not free. Was taught that too in college for landscaping jobs. You did a lovely job and yeah, you can see the house would need doing too. You didn't put an update I could notice but hope you got paid. Signs were not good. Don't recommend trashing a place as some did, but factual exposure was fair.
The guy that owes you money wants you to go to where he makes money. He's just a man of few words, and if this is how he does people he may have been popped in the mouth a couple of times and talking ain't his thing. Sure hope he isn't selling the place. We're starting the same type of business and your videos are gold, thanks. Self employed.....

Great work 👍🏼 I hope that, that guy pay you for the work that you did!! Great work and keep it up.
Go back and take some wet mulch and spread on the area you cleaned, re-wet it and leave it for the home owner to clean up. Should be pretty strained by the time they see it. Good job thought!
God Bless, Justin personally I like the wand better I can see a bigger difference but that’s just me I will watch them either way
You might be a small business but I would def recommend you to have the client signing a contract, that way your chance of getting paid is higher.
Start taking a non refundable deposit payment now mate, don’t get ripped off 👍🏼
Make sure the deposit is included in the price of the estimate.
I’ve had the same stuff happen to me. I service pools. When that happens I bring a saw with me.
Maybe you didnt do a good job? Or damaged their place
@@sothickitssickk maybe they scam people.
Try an Apache Hard-Soft Turbo nozzle on Amazon $82.00. Used one for about 15 years before it finally gave out. Not the cheapest but really works!
Big bucket of dirt mixed with crude oil, with the message ''non-payments'' on it, included in your before and after pictures.
I washed trucks for a while and we had those turbo nozzles. We didn't like them at all. But they might be better for what you do than cleaning trucks.
