It’s safe to travel Honduras, Central America? The entire trip: Caribe, Capital, Lakes, Villages

Honduras is the country I was missing to visit in Central America. The 45th country of this 9 years trip around the world.
After one month in Honduras I confess that I didn’t feel always comfortable in this country.
Nothing bad happened but I felt the need to be always aware to protect my self.
For me what makes a country safe or unsafe is the attitude of the local people. If I feel the locals will protect me if something happen I will feel safe.
If I don’t have that feeling, if I don’t feel welcome, and even if I feel that I need to be always bargain for the faire price of everything, so I don’t feel safe.
I am happy that I came to visit and check it out.
But it’s not lie when you listen that it’s not safe to visit.
Anyway, there are nice places to visit and I met nice people, specially from other countries who are living here or were traveling around as me.
