- Check out this test footage from my newly purchased Sony DCR-VX700! I took it out to Driggs, Idaho for a spin and fell in love with its performance.

Gracias Brandon por tu aporte. Sigue así. Un saludo desde españa!!
looks actually quite good!!
Cool camcorder dude! That’s a rare model… more rare than the vx1000
I know and I got it for like $250 and it’s even an English model
Wow it looks like Trailer Park Boys ❤
Yeah I thought so too. I love the look
What I don't like about this camera is the sound from the cassette deck is very annoying and not at all friendly to microphones 😳
Yeah I have yo run this tapeless for it to not have that noise
@@brandoncameracollection I ordered this camera yesterday. It will be my first mini DV as I have been using video 8, hi8 as a camera for years. Does it have nice colors or are they faded??
The colors are a little more faded or washed out. But the vx700 and vx1000 were the first mini dv camcorders made by Sony. So it will have a bit more retro look to it.
@@brandoncameracollection For example, my Sony CCD VX1, V6000 Pro cameras have very nice colors, but the DCR VX1000, VX700 don't have the same colors as the hi8 cameras?
Hello Brandon, great video, what did you use to transfer/convert the footage to digital?
This is the process I use:

@@brandoncameracollection Hey Brandon, great video! If you don't mind my asking, what was your motivation for using analog capture instead of DV? The usual wisdom is that firewire gives you a bit-perfect, lossless copy of what's on the tape, whereas analog degrades the image considerably - but I know a lot of people specifically want that analog look. Was that degradation desirable, or were there technical reasons for doing it this way?
@CathodeRayDude this was captured with FireWire used the Panasonic DMR-EZ485V VCR/DVD combo because it a has a FireWire 4 pin in on it. But also the Sony vx1000 and vx700 I’m pretty sure were the first mini DV camcorders ever made so even though it’s digital I think the footage still looks a little rough. The vx700 also doesn’t have a 3ccd sensor like the vx1000. The vx700 was the consumer model of the vx1000. But maybe the way I capture footage through firewire isn’t the absolute best image for FireWire but I think it looks fine in my opinion.
@@brandoncameracollection oh, my bad, I'd watched your video on the VCR but I only noticed you doing the analog interface, I somehow missed it had the firewire! That's usually a very good conversion chain, so maybe it is just the quality difference between the VX700 and 1000 that made me think it was analog. Thanks for the reply!
Do you think we can communicate somehow? I don't have Discord, so we can't talk on there.
